Is there really any here? That would be cool...

I know a whole bunch: 416_man, Daffodil, Jahrim, vwrules, myself.

I play in the U16 Division for the Ontario Tennis Association (OTA). I played four tournaments this year and had a 3-4 record (:()

Tournament 1
L. 6-7, 6-4, 3-6

Tournament 2
W. 6-2, 2-6, 7-5
L. 1-6, 7-6, 1-6

Tournament 3
W. 6-0, 6-3
L. 2-6, 1-6

Tournament 4
W. 6-0, 6-0
L. 2-6, 4-6

I also played a Club Singles tournament- there was only one match and it was the finals against my brother, which I lost. I will add it here:

Tournament 5
L. 6-4, 2-6, 0-6

I also played a Club Doubles tournament w/ my brother...We won it! :) Here are they now:

Tournament 6
W. 8-5
W. 8-0
W. 8-5

I also played a Men's Club Doubles tournament w/ my brother. The second loss was in a SF of a B-DRAW...I'll add it here:

Tournament 7
W. 6-4, 6-7, 6-3
L. 6-2, 1-6, 4-6
W. 6-0, 6-2
L. 4-6, 5-7

Jahrim and Daffodil also played a ton of tennis! :) They'll post some of their results here, I'm sure...

I am playing and taking lessons right now during the fall indoors. I might enter a USTA tournament this winter, but I usually don't play tournaments, just high school. I am the captain of the Boy's Tennis Team at Franklin High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am probably going to play singles 2 this year, my senior year. I don't mean to brag, but in our third season as a program we won 3 meets including a tie for first at conference, and put 6 of 7 courts through to sectionals. We finished 8-2 in conference play last year.

Our number 1 is a great player. I practiced with him quite a bit this summer. I want to find people to play outside of Wisconsin. Yeah, I like this thread. +Ernie- is quite a good player from what I hear as well.

My USTA record is nothing to be proud of :o

I've played in 3 tournaments in the last year, and I've lost 0-6 0-6 in the first round of every single one of them :o :tape:

It's not that I suck that much, it's just that I get nervous and I can't establish a rhythm  I get to deuce and then CHOKE :fiery:

Ooo, that isn't good. Hey, it is USTA, don't put pressure on yourslef. Play for fun, not because you have to compete for a living.

Do you agree with the USTA ratings? I don't. I can beat players probably in the 5.0 range because I'm more mentally tough than most, but if i was rated, I'd be a 4.0.

You mean the NPR something something whatever those letters are ratings? Like the ones with 4.5 5.0 5.5?

I don't really agree with them either...but it's more because I'm quite an inconsistent player :o One day I can be up there on the chart but the next I can be as bad as a 2.0 :o. Haha, no really, not THAT bad but you get my drift.

But yeah, I guess it's for fun...but I'd like to win..:o

Oh and I play city tournaments once or twice a year whenever they have them :D I never get far in the doubles  I suck at doubles, can't make it past round robin. Actually, can't even win a single game :o

But in singles, I got to the Quarterfinals before I had to play my teammate from school :fiery: It was such a tight tight match, I played my heart out, and I still lost...2-6 2-6 :o:rolleyes: I choke under pressure  Meaning...I don't fair well when it is no-ad scoring

My summer was , I was definitely slumping. I just started in 16 and unders, and I'm starting to get better results. I play district sanctioned tournaments under the USTA.
First tournament of the fall *anything to get out of my horrendous summer*:
1st round: 6-2, 6-1
2nd round: 6-1, 6-2
Round of 16: 6-7(5-7), 4-6
I doublefaulted on match point , only double of the match. I was down 1-6 in the breaker before reeling off 4 straight points. Then I missed an easy backhand, my better shot. That match definitely hurt, but my opponent was quite good.
Second tournament:
1st round: 6-2,6-4
2nd round:1-6,6-4,7-5
This is probably the best match I've ever taken part in. I felt like Serena , because I saved *6* match points and came back from 2-5 in the final set.
Quarters:0-6,2-6
This was my second match of the day, after my marathon comeback. I was exhausted both mentally and physically. Of course, it didn't help that the kid I played is AMAZING. He probably would have beaten me fully fit anyways :).

I've never won a tourney. I always come close, but then never really able to play like myself in the finals. I'm a 16 yr old 4.0 btw. Hopefully I'll move up to 4.5 by summer!

The last tournament I played was about 3 weeks ago and I lost in the second round to a girl that makes really really really bad calls....
At one point in the match she served but it was a let and it was really really obvious that it was a let, like it hit the net, then bounced about 2 ft in the air before it bounced in the box. I didn't bother to call it because it was so obvious and she said that the point should be hers because I didn't call it. It was soo obvious! I didn't bother to argue. oh well. I'll kick her @$$ one day!

The problem with me is that I have the opportunity to have a coach, but I don't want them because they are annoying. They coach Jahrim, though. Also, over the summer, I LOVE to play tennis, but as soon as September hits...

Today, I went to the courts for the first time in like, two weeks. I played with Jahrim and Daffodil, and another friend of ours on green claycourts of Brampton, Canada.

Anywho, Jahrim and I played first and he beat me 6-3. In the second match, Daffodil lost to our other friend 7-5. Then, I played our other friend, and I lost 6-3. Then, Daffodil played Jahrim and lost 7-5. Then, Daffodil played our other friend again and won 6-1, then lost the third set 7-6, wasting nine matchpoints. I played Jahrim and won the next two sets 6-4, 6-4. The quality of tennis was okay quality but we'll play again tomorrow.

I hate the claycourts, though.

Yay, I like this thread :D

Anyways, the italian tennis tour is open from February to September, and the ranking are pretty well organized considering other countries' systems.

Practically, there are 4 major ranking categories: A,B,C,D with A being the best.

Each of there contains 4 subcategories, symbolized by the number 1,2,3 and 4, 1 being the best. I know it doesn't make sense :p

But for example, if someone is ranked D1 it means he only needs a few more points to make it into the C league, and as soon as he gets into the C league he will start with the ranking of C4.

And the only points you get are bonus points, there are no round points.

Anyways, this year I started off as a D2, and I was really slumping in around february, but I was able to pick it up again during spring and summer and really did well, so now I'm ranked C4 :D

Which isn't too bad considering the only players that are in A series are the top 10 ranked in the country, so at the moment Volandri is A1 :p

Very cool! I didn't know you where Italian!

In Ontario, Canada, the Men's League has four divisions also: A, B, C, O. "O" is OPEN and is the hardest one because EVERYBODY can play it. I'm in U16, so it doesn't work that way...

Round 2:6-3,6-2

I played so bad. My forehand is so flawed, it's disgusting. The kid was a pusher :tape:, which doesn't match well with my high risk game. I'm seriously considering a two handed forehand , because if I can get my forehand anywhere near my backhand, I'll improve greatly. Finally started training again yesterday, bout time

I felt so out of shape, I got tired after like 20 minutes :o

How cold can it get?

It CAN go to about a max of about, -7° C but that's very rare, it's usually around say, 7° C, so we just put on a sweater and play anyways if the courts that are indoors are already taken :p

:tape: that's cold. But, I'll take it over the -10 in Canada.

Anywho...I went to the courts with my brother today and we were just hitting out on the ball. I want to go one more time just to practice, before I get into the competitive mode again. :)

It is 6am right now and I have to leave in 20 minutes for school- I have my Tennis High School Meet today! :) Wish me luck...I want to see Jahrim at ROPSAA. :lick:

vw, I'm almost ahead of you in the rankings! :) I'm not sure how good you are. You beat someone I lost to, but you lost to someone I thought stunk! So, I'm not sure what to think about you, yet...We need to play the same tournament one time and see if you play each other.

Also, Navratilova once said that you should train your player 75% on clay, 25% on everything else. I hate claycourts.

Does anyone know of any tournaments during the winter for the USTA? They need to be in the midwest area around Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Illinois. I need to get a USTA membership because I've been busy with everything else, but does anyone know of an singles tournaments in this area.

by the way, what racket does everyone use, and what strings/string tensions?

I use a Babolat Pure Control, the old model (Dani's old one)

Perfect for flat shots and topspin, simply awesome :hearts: I tried the newer version but it's just too light, and I can't keep my shots in court

I use Babolat ProHurricane strings (They last much longer and are so great  ) and I usually string at 24 kg ;)

Wow, in Italy, ALL tournaments are on clay :o

The only time we play on hardcourts is when we play under 16 team tournaments (davis cup format) and you get to select the surface...

Too bad, my favourite surface is hardcourt indoors...

Btw, My Equpiment stats:

I have three Wilson H Tours, (old racket Justine Henin and LIndsay Davenport endorsed), and I LOVE it. Awesome blend of control and power. Im thinking about getting a few N Tours, but I don't have the money for that right now... Maybe in 5 or 6 months...

As for strings, I use Wilson Stamina Syn Gut 16 at 58 lbs. :D

Cool, where are you from? I'm in the Milwaukee area (Wisconsin). Maybe we'll meet each other in a tournament... Idk, it's cool to hear that someone is from my area!!

I don't plan on entering too many, maybe just with guys from my team. i don't feel that I need tournament play to keep my game sharp, just a lot a practice and repetition. I hope to maybe play one singles and one doubles tournament during the winter.

I am now just changing from the Head Liquidmetal Instinct to the Head FlexPoint 4. I string at 58-60 lbs. I use a combo of strings with prince (a hybrid type deal), but those might change too. My stringer is one of my good friends and our no.1 player on our tennis team. Today I demoed the Flexpoint 4 in drill group and it was defiantly better. The Instinct is designed for either counterpunchers or players that have a lot of racquet-head speed. The Flexpoint 4 is pretty stiff and I create the power I knew I had. I need the $ now, but I'm sure i'll fiigure out a way to get it. It is very similar to Venus' racquet. I can't play with Babolat (too much power, not enough feel).

Chicago, I LUV CHICAGO!! I go down there quite a bit. NikeTown is my favorite place. Plus Heaven On Seven is the best cajun restaurant near me, besides a place called crawdaddy's. I only need practice to keep sharp because I've been through match play throughout my whole life. I played volleyball since 5th grade, and club volleyball from 8th thru sophomore year. The mental toughness is quite the same and volleyball has helped me with tight situations

Practice gets me in a groove and I have quite a bit of experience winning that it doesn't bother me with match play. I know what to do and what I need to do to win.

Enough about me, how old are u? It would cool to play someone from this board. I'm in the 18's age group.
