The French Tennis Federation (FFT) is decided to take care of her soon, to find her a coach and to allow her to make progress. They have discussed with Tati during the Fed cup in Paris.... I don't know when it will hapen but the FFT will make everything possible so that Tati reaches the Top 10 as quickly as possible... They just realise that Mary and Amélie are getting old and it's time to prepare the future. And for the moment the future has one name: Golovin

The FFT has arranged a marriage for Richard Gasquet and Tatiana Golovin. At the 2007 French Open both will win their respective singles championships. On center court during their trophy presentation for mixed doubles Richard will fall to his knee and ask for Tatiana's hand in marriage. The FTT believes this will cause a great scandal and peak interest in tennis. FTT knows that it will inspire hundreds of children to play and with the strict guidance of FTT by 2020 France will be the only tennis powerhouse in the men and women's game. Quite good for Tati considering she doesn't play against Peer or Shaughnessy in 1st round. But beware of Cho as she's the homecrowd favourite. The second round could be ok. I don't wanna make any predictions....
If Tati won two matches, it would be reassuring.

After needing three sets in the first round, 17-year-old Golovin made quick work of Mariana Diaz-Oliva on Thursday, winning 61 62. The teen Frenchwoman will next take on 30-year-old Sugiyama, who had a 64 63 win over Martina Muller and will make her second appearance in a Tour quarterfinal this year.

After a disappointing start to the season, Sugiyama got back on track at San Diego, a Tier I event in August, when she reached the final, upsetting world No.4 Svetlana Kuznetsova along the way.

On Friday, Golovin and Sugiyama will square off first on Center Court, starting at 11:30 a.m. local time, with the younger of the two owning a slight head-to-head advantage. In their only previous meeting, at Sydney in January this year, Golovin won 61 26 63. She has reached four Tour quarterfinals previously this year, winning all of them.

from the Seoul website:
3rd seeded Tatiana Golovin, hoping to win her first WTA Tour title in Seoul, out-finessed and overpowered the more experienced Ai Sugiyama of Japan, 6-3, 6-2.

Golovin capitalized the shaky service game of the Japanese and raced to a 3-0 lead in the first set and closed it out 6-3 with a splendid forehand driving volley at the net.

Golovin again had a commanding 3-0 lead in the 2nd set. She commited a double fault for the first time in the match in next game to get broke, but a volley winner and a crucial backhand down the line winner gave her a 4-1 lead.

Golovin won when Sugiyama hit a forehand volley wide, and will face the top seeded Jankovic in the semifinals.

Very good week for Tatiana... She was very near to the final... Perhaps in her next tournament... She can arrived to a new level : the Top 10 level... I hope it's for soon... But, she is n°2 for the "under 18", just after Nicole Vaidisova...

Seems like an error fest for Tati and also she injured her leg :bigcry:. I love to see her grunting more :haha: and also she seems to have more winners than JJ who is bascially a wall like we all know. Not so bad at all I think.

In the first set, both players capitalized their solid groundstrokes and broke each other 2 times for 4-4. In the 10th game, Jankovic won a crucial point when she passed Golovin at the net. Jankovic wrapped up the first set when Golovin hit backhand long.

Golovin raced to a 5-2 lead in the 2nd set after she decided to play more aggressive and grunt louder (:haha: ). She frequently overpowered Jankovic, moved her from corner to corner, and ended a point smashing a ball returned helplessly by the Serbian.

But the sometimes-impatient French started making more errors than winners, and saw the score evened 5-5. Somehow Golovin regrouped herself to break back Jankovic next game to love and held her own serve producing remarkable 6 winners to take the set 7-5.

Golovin was briefly treated for what seemed to be a leg injury while trailing 0-2 in the final set. But what was bothering her more was her 20-year-old opponent who was retrieving nearly every ball. Somehow she evened the score 4-4, but handed over a spot for the finals to Jankovic by hitting forehand wide and long on match point.

Tati needs to be agressive to be successful, hopefully the leg isn't serious, because such a good chance to do well in Japan

tati interview after her win over sugiyama. most old stuff but some new stuff like her schedule and thoughts on korea.

http://www.hansolopen.com/english/hankorea/inter_list.jsp

Q : In France Open which was held indoors, you got to semifinals two years in a row. Did that experience influence today? How was the match at the indoor court?

Golovin : It was fine for me . It¡¯s better to play as soon as possible rather than waiting for the whole day. The speed was almost same as the outdoor court. Actually, the most important thing is how well I play, not the court. It¡¯s important to adapt to every situation.

Q : What was the strategy for today?

Golovin : Sugiyama is a good player and has many experiences. She is good at defense. So I tried to make my own game. Moreover, Sugiyama is good at back hand so I tried to make it to forehand down the line. I think my forehand stroke worked today.

Q : On the back side, you frequently made lobs on backhands and do you have reason for that?

Golovin : It¡¯s because Sugiyama doesn¡¯t like that kind of ball. Today I played that way but it¡¯s not my style. And it¡¯s also because Sugiyama is good at hitting back balls on backhand cross course.

Q : What was your first impression for Korea?

Golovin : I heard from Sharapova that Korea is a wonderful place. More and more people come to see the match everyday and I really look forward to playing tomorrow.

Q : You was born in Russia and learned tennis in America and now you¡¯re living in France. Which country is the most comfortable for you?

Golivin : Korea¡¦(everyone laughs..) I¡¯m French and Paris is a beautiful city and I love Paris. I have been to Russia only twice. I have been in Florida (where Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy is located) for a quite long time so I feel it as my second hometown. (Golovin practiced tennis at Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy for seven years.)

Q : You came here with your mom and does she go everywhere with you?

Golivin : Of course.

Q : What¡¯s your plan after this?

Golovin : I¡¯m going to Japan Open, Zurich Open and Philadelphia. After that there¡¯s no schedule before Australia Open because of age limit. January 25th is my birthday and I become 18 so there will be more championships that I can play next year.

Q : These days you are wearing low-rise style... What kind of uniform do you prefer?

Golovin : My ideas are put in much when LACOSTE designs my uniform and the ones coming next year will be also great. Usually I choose what to wear according to my feeling.

Q : Which Grand Slam do you want to win for the first time?

Golovin : France Open, of course(laughs). Wimbledon is also special to me.

Q : Then, do you prefer a clay court?

Golovin : Not exactly. Clay court is hard to play so I want to practice more hard and do well.

Q : What do you think about Korean spectators?

Golovin : French people are enthusiastic and they express a lot, but compare to that Koreans are calm and quiet.

Q : In the Tour, who¡¯s the most toughest player for you, except yourself¡¦?

Golovin : All.(Everybody laughing¡¦) No one knows what¡¯s going to happen the next day, even though I meet a opponent that I once beat 6-0 6-0. That¡¯s Tour. All the great players are gathered in the Tour so anyone can be a rival.

Q : Have you ever been to other places in Korea, except your hotel and the court?

Golovin : I went to ice rink. I wanted to play ice hockey but I didn¡¯t have enough time. Next time when I get a chance to come back, I would like to visit the Korean Traditional Museum and go shopping and have fun at Lotte World. If the time allows I want to experience as much as I can.

Q : If you have a chance to come to Korea next time, are you going to come again?

Golovin : Sure. But when I have Tours, I¡¯m not sure how the schedule will be. If I get a chance I really want to come back.

Great interview. She's so obvious not your typical bash-every-ball player. She's thinking player. And I didn't know she's close with Shyperova :scared:

She's not playing any tournament before AO. Hope she withdraws from Zurich and save it for Sydney. I don't mind she's playing Hopman Cup either pairing up with Gasquet .

i think i read that tati and sharapova were pretty close at bollettieri's but then they sort of drifted apart.

i'm pretty sure she's going to play hopman cup as the warmup to the AO. it won't be bad; she'll get a week off before the AO. and she probably wants to make up for withdrawing last year.

that's a smart schedule, Philadelphia is weak and the Hopman Cup will be a good test since some of the top players play there before the AO. I would have played Moscow to get more wins, instead of Zurich, but Tati knows what she does.

thx for the interview! I like she shows she knows her opponent's qualities and even say a lot of good about them. she says she won because she knew them and was able to use her weakness and prevent her from using her strong points. Not like all the players who always say they were the best speak about "me me me myself and i" played very well today, didn't gave her answers etc

:) Very honest. she say the things as they are. about the korean spectators, the way she's interesed in Seoul etc

She's supposed to play the Hopman Cup? when? with whom? and where can i see this information? sorry about all the questions... ;)

that's our guess. she doesn't have any more wta tournaments before the AO so this is her only opportunity to play before the AO. and she had to withdraw last year so she probably wants to play there this year. gasquet, santoro? not sure. there will be more info later.

Nice interview!!! Thank you so much!
Im glad Tati is playing three more tournaments before the end of the year :yeah:
Opportunities to climb in the rankings as she has like no points to defend! (except 50 points from Luxembourg which was held later than this year)
I hope Tati could be back in the top 20 at the end of the year... She is #23 at race rankings so that is likely!
