I think she should still play until she feels like she needs to go, wins a slam, or has a serious injury.

Henin-Hardenne is a difficult semifinal.

if Justine gets to the semifinal... She has Mary (who played awesome tennis before getting injured) and Amelie in her quarter. For Linds it's a pretty much an open road.

As much as I ADORE Justine, I dont think she will get past Lindsay if Lindsay is in-form and healthy. Hopefully, Lindsay would then meet someone like Kim in the final who would choke even before Lindsay could.

Not really, she obviously hasn't had trouble getting into finals. It's just beating the players who are on the other side of the net in the finals.

i think up until the finals henin hardenne is the toughest obstacle but i have doubts that she will make it to the semis anyways. . .

i just am looking forward to seeing lindsay do the best she can, and hopefully that means she will win it.

That's like saying no one else in the draw is good. She has Henin-Hardenne 2003 Champ, Mauresmo, Pierce, Myskina and Dementieva in her half and then anyone from Clijsters to Sharapova to a Williams sister in her final; saying she should win or retire just because of her draw suggests that she's the only person in the draw that's any good which just isn't the case. Saying if she doesn't get to the quarters or even semis is more reasonable but obviously you're not a reasonable kind of person. Also, other than Eleni [who will not upset Sharapova], Maria has just as easy a draw with a QF against an inconsistent Russian.

In the final we can have Venus, Kim, Sharapova and Serena (also not that bad).

No one should underestimate Justine. When she happens to reach fourth
round in this usopen, it will be very difficult to go out just like that.
So Davenport should have all the honeymoon because in the latter stage
of the tournament, Davenport will not have it own way.

I watched Lindsay in New Haven. If she keeps up that way, there is no doubt that she will win US Open.
Stay healthy, Lindsay, and enjoy your matches

Lindsay has a VERY easy draw and should win it. But winning majors requires a lot of luck, not just skill. Things have to break your way. As someone else pointed out in this thread, Maria has a cakewalk draw as well (ofcourse, her opener is tougher as is her potential semifinal opponent). Whatever.

usually people who SHOULD make it to the finals don't. Lindsay SHOULD have won the US Open last year and she didn't. I just hope she doesn't injure herself. Hopefully she won't play doubles so that she can rest.

I watched that match as well. Though she played well there, it is not a
measure of winning the USopen.
Davenport had a very very good chance to win the open last year but could
not due to injury or sort of. This year I am not going to say she will win it
outright because there are so many players who by some means can put up
very surprising victory at grandslams and particularly there players at the
other side of the draw who can be very good opponent for Davenport if
happen to meet in whatever round.

I mostly agree with you. But, IMO, it is the same thing for Lindsay and Serena - it is all up to them, it has nothing to do with their opponents. If she manages to stay helthy, I see no reasson at all why she couldn't win. She has huge game, and that kind of mind, that makes a thrue champ.

If she gets past her semi she will probably play Clijsters in the final, so she still has it tough.

Just because Lindsay has an easy draw to the semi doesn't mean she should win the whole thing
