Just post it to commemorate Su-Wei's comeback. I did not make it up. Su-Wei once bageled Sharapova. It's been a difficult road back for a once promising young star. Read this page and weep:

And don't forget to go to page 2 for more photos, of both SWH and Maria. Can't imagine just 3 years ago they were neck-to-neck with each other.

Go Su-Wei!!!

And where is Su-Wei today?
She has to prove herself again. And it is not an easy task against Maria today.
A number of players beat Hingis in the juniors, never to come close again once on the profrssional tour.

oh god...that was when Sharapova was obvoiusly a very young inexperienced teen.

Maybe you should post: Karin Lynn Miller d. Sharapova 67 64 64

It's just to put into perspective the comeback of Hsieh...she was somewhat of a phenom then and then everything fell apart....she's confident now and back with her father....plus she uses Yonex now...

Um....no. Martina was also quite the dominate junior player as well.

Yes thats true. Several players were neck to neck with Hingis in juniors... but after, got owned by her along with everyone else.

Su-Wei was Sharapova's equal.... but she doesn't have the same aggression.

Its great that she has found her form though :)

I did not say she did not dominate the junior.
I am just dtsting those girls who beat then, never came close once in the pros.
Thito illustrate that beating Sharapoav 3 years ago does not predict how things might turn out today.
To be fair, the poster clarified later to say that s/he saying to underline that
Su-Wei was good in the past and could carry that now.

another interesting thing... I was curious about Federer's gf Mirka's tennis career so I looked up her activity and saw that she beat Justine Henin once.... it was still Henin so I think it was a really long time ago I'll have to check...

Sorry folks but this was a totally useless thread. Glad to see Su-Wei back on track, but so she beat Maria Sharapova three years ago.

Means absolutely nothing in 2005.

Yes, Mirka beat Justine @ ITF Rockford 25K in 1999 6-3 1-6 7-6(5)... I just thought that was interesting... other wins I noticed were Anabel M.G. & Nuria LLagostera V., just neat to see that she had wins over players who are successful now:) She also had a win over Navratilova....Gabriella Navratilova;)

Actually in historical perspective that's pretty important since Miller was the first player to beat Maria in a pro match!!!!!!!

Hater.
Whether it's hater or lover, but Masha is indeed "used to getting bageled" by some top players:

Indian Wells 2002: lost to Monica Seles 0-6 2-6 in the 2nd round.

Hong Kong Exhibition 2003: lost to Monica Seles 3-6 0-6 in the SF.

But interestingly, Monica Seles was the first WTA player to say 2-3 years ago that Masha could become a world #1 player.
