Winning a match may be asking a little much don't you think. :rolleyes:

I do hope she can though. But I'm not very optimistic. First Nastya suffers a major slump and once she starts playing well Tati starts losing every match. :sad:

I really hope she will do well at the US, I know she can...
This such a desapointing summer by now...
Let's pray.

c'mon Tati let's win! a set even, and if you are really up to it a whole match. maybe she can draw some crappy American WC, or someone really really bad. too bad Stevenson isn't in the draw, Tati in her form now could kick her ass.

on a side note, i had a dream about Tati last night. i remember i was somewhere seeing her practice and i ran to my room and found a pic of her in a magazine to sign for me. so i had it signed and then i sat down at some table with her and talked to her for like half an hour. it was really random, but i must have been really pissed about her losing last night and thinking about it and thats why i had a dream about her. i won't tell you about my other dreams about Tati. :devil:

not to interrupt the conversation :) but tati is the #24 seed. i'm not 100% positive but i think tati now avoids the 1-8 seeds if she makes the 3rd round. that probably would have meant more if she was playing better. ;)

pretty good draw IMO... she will get past the 1rd for sure (most of the players in the quali are poor), then the second round might be a though one, it all depends on how confident she is and Dechy is definitively beatable :yeah:

Yeah, I feel the exact same. Obviously Tati has the better game but Virginia will let her self-destruct if Tati is spraying balls all over the place. Most qualifiers aren't as experienced seeing as half the qualifiers I've never even heard of.

I hope Tati wins but I have a bad feeling about this match.

Like Gasquet right? These two should get married and give birth to hot children.

I think Gasquet is focusing on his single career at this point while the idea of Tati playing mixed is not that bad since she needs to play lots of matches to build her confidence. I just hope she isn't overburnt. But I hardly doubt so. She only played for two days for the past couple of weeks :tape:

santoro :sad: he's so old. can't she play with someone young and hot.
Well, he can lead them to a Slam victory as he did for Hantuchova and make them benefit from his long experience and talent... :rolleyes:
And "young" girls like him because he only really see them as partners since he's "too old" as you pointed out, adores his wife and daughter and don't consider them as "hot" like a teen would do and flirt instead of help them to progress...
But he's very nice and has a great sense of humour and makes them laugh so they like him...They'll have fun together. ;)

I went to the US Open today and saw Tati play doubles! Despite the scoreline it wasn't really a bad match for Tati/Anna; it seemed to me they weren't taking it seriously at all. The two of them were very chatty and laughing, they seem like good friends. After the warm-up, Tati sat down are braided her hair in 5 seconds flat:eek:, I've never seen anything like it. Her and Anna had matchng braids. There were a few funny moments. Once Tati aced Dementieva w/ a pretty average serve, because Elena swung and completely missed it :lol:. Then Flavia aced Tati with a second serve, because Tati was standing in like the completely wrong place, and Anna just burst out laughing. I think it I'm being to like Chakvetadze, she's so funny when she gets a bad line call; she goes 'what hapened'. I sat pretty close to Tati's mom and sister. At first I was like 'wow tati's mom is very young looking', but I found out that was Tati's sister when I looked a little futher and an older woman that looks just like her was sitting there :tape:. I'd like to see what Tati's dad looks like, because Tati is like a foot taller than the other women in her family

As far as Tati's game goes she looked pretty good, showing no signs of the injury affecting her, but then of couse she really run much. Demtieva has definitely improved her serve as well.

I'm glad to see Tati play on Grandstand tomorrow; it's my favorite court at the US Open

glad to hear they had fun together playing. did you take any pics?

i know what you mean about the hair braiding thing. i saw Kournikova play Seles in an exo match a few years ago and Anna came out with her long long hair unbraided, then she sat down and was interviewed and braided the whole thing in a few seconds. it was amazing.

anyways, good luck to Tati tomorrow in both matches.

Well well well...there was a lot of tension during this match...

tatiana always was dominant..but with her lack of confidence she was a bit acting like a "bitch"...:rolleyes:

at 53 she had a match point taht she lost..and hit the ball at the end of the point ON anna Smashnova..and did not even say sorry.....:rolleyes:

for the second match point a t 65 in the tie break....she screamed on a crossed forehand and screamed even LOUDER on her last forehand down the line...

SHE WAS SO NERVOUS..tought that the balls were out.....SMASHNOVA WAS SO ANGRY:rolleyes:

Anyway pretty good match for Tatiana...she will probably destroy Nathalie Dechy:bounce:

glad to hear that she played some good tennis against dechy. i was at the match against smashnova and it was like she was afraid of going for her shots, which she did when i saw her in the past. it was especially bad at the end of the 2nd set. i think she was hoping that smashnova would make an error and it didn't help with all the double faults she was serving.

i also saw a bit of her mixed doubles match with santoro. tati was a bit overmatched but it seemed that she and fabrice got along well. hopefully, tati got some tips and advice during the match.

=======
US OPEN (Flushing Meadows, New York, USA, Decoturf, Grand Slam)
=======

This is Tatiana Golovin, the leading member of my casual demi-fanship, and a candidate for future induction into my eternal fanship:

At her best (that I have seen), Tatiana is a flairsome player with good placement, whose matches against Maria Sharapova (http://www.geocities.com/andrewbroad/tennis/shara/) are very entertaining, especially as I have passion for both. At her worst, however, Tatiana can be unspectacular and boring.

At her best, Tatiana is drop-dead gorgeous and luscious - but not consistently so (where were the microshorts and the alluring grunt at Birmingham 2005?). As well as being superficially attractive, Tatiana is charming in interviews.

The torch labelled "next in line for my fanship - if only she can impress me sufficiently" will be hard for any other player to extinguish, and I've been close to inducting her a couple of times already. But I concluded that my opinion of her tennis was clouded by her on-court sex-appeal.

-----------
First round
-----------

+ TATIANA GOLOVIN [23] d. Virginia Ruano Pascual [Q], 6-3 2-6 7-6 (7/5)

I was not optimistic about Tatiana's chances against the battle-hardened qualifier, for Tatiana's form and confidence are at a very low ebb at the moment, and losing the second set reminded me of Tatiana's 2-6 6-0 6-1 capitulation to Gisela Dulko at Toronto two weeks previously.

Tatiana was 0-4 down in the third set, but fought back to 4-4. She had a couple of break-points to be serving for the match at 5-4, and another to be serving for it at 6-5, but muffed them all. (Serving to stay in the match at 4-5, Tatiana was down 0/15, and two points away from defeat at 30/30 and 40/40.)

Tatiana serving to stay in the match at 5-6: 0/30 -> 40/30, 40/40, ad RP (match-point), Deuce #2, ad T, held.

6-6 tiebreak: Tatiana *0/1, 3/1*, *3/2, *4/2 -> 4/4*, *5/4, *5/5, 6/5* (match-point), Tatiana won 6-3 2-6 7-6 (7/5).

It should be a huge confidence-boost for Tatiana that she dug herself out of such a deep hole, and there's nothing like the joy of winning a third-set tiebreak after that 5/5 situation where whoever wins the point will have match-point!

I hoped that Tatiana could go into her second-round match against Anna "The Wall" Smashnova with much more confidence, and a possible third-round match against Nathalie Dechy - who isn't in great form at the moment - would be a good opportunity for Tatiana to reach her third-ever Grand Slam fourth round.

I was so happy that Tatiana won after staring defeat in the face. It shows that I have a passion for Tatiana not normally associated with players outside my eternal fanship.

Tatiana serving for the match at 5-3: 15/0, 15/15, 30/15, 30/30, 40/30 (MATCH-POINT), 40/40, ad S (BP), broken.

Tati loves to choke! Her victory is in great danger now, especially with her confidence being so low in recent weeks.

Smashnova serving to stay in the match at 4-5: 40/0, 40/15, held.
Tatiana serving 5-5: 15/0, 15/40 (2 BPs), broken.

Dechy serving 1-4: 0/30 -> 30/30, 30/40 (BP), 40/40, ad D, held.
Tatiana serving 4-2: held to love.
Dechy serving to stay in the second set at 2-5: 0/40 (3 SPs), Tatiana won the second set 6-2.

The momentum has really swung in Tatiana's favour now! :) I feel that her recent poor results have been due to lack of confidence, but now I fancy her chances in the third set... and it's not just her chances that I fancy! ;)

Dechy took a medical time-out at the end of the second set to have her lower back massaged.
