Mrs Blackhall said Rory had been having a difficult time, was upset about things happening within the family and was unhappy about having to go back to school.

Suicide?

I suppose thats a possibility. But there were loads of police officers around all the schools today even at the opposite end of the town so it suggest that something more sinister has happened. They've only just moved the body so nobody knows whats happened yet.

I think we all knew it but its now been confirmed.

Rory disappeared on Thursday

VIDEO: Body Found

A body found in woodland has been confirmed as that of missing 11-year-old Rory Blackhall.

A post mortem is underway to establish how the 11-year-old died in the Livingston area of West Lothian.

His body was discovered in a wooded area at the western end of Dechmont Law, between Meldrum Primary School and the M8 motorway.

Rory, said to be upset over family problems, had failed to turn up at school on Thursday morning.

Uniform officers have been at Meldrum Primary School providing a reassurance for parents and the public around the school.

The community officer for the school has cancelled his annual leave and will be spending this week with staff and pupils.

Officers have also been stationed at all the other primary schools across the town for public reassurance.

Police praised the efforts of the public and partner agencies who helped in the search for Rory.

Chief Inspector Jim Thomson, of Lothian and Borders Police, said: "Over the weekend we had nearly 300 members of the public helping us with the search in addition to the 70 trained mountain search and rescue teams and specialist police officers.

"This shows the strength of community spirit in the area and how much everyone has been affected by recent events."

Local church spokeswoman Glenda Wilson said: "There is a lot of upset in the community from the people who joined in the search for Rory and the people who knew him."

Rory's mother Michelle Blackhall, a primary teacher at a different West Lothian school, had pleaded for her "fantastic and affectionate" son to get in touch on Friday.
