I don't know how Ana's been playing this summer...so it's a tough call. We all know where Kim stands (maybe a little tired, but definitely with match practice), but Ana's performance is up in the air.

Kim's got the USO Series with Mareee out now, right? So wouldn't she be better off tanking the "mandatory" event, and getting more rest for the Open?

Yea Ana has been in 3 tiebreakers and WON everyone of them so idk ...Clijsters is Super fast and the Split is Awesome but i think Ana's serve will be a big factor..

After 1:3 in 1st set, Kim right now win against Razzano 6:3, 6:0! (11:0 in last 11 games of match!)

Yes. Ivanovic will win this match for sure, probably in straight sets. I hope Kim has the good sense to know when enough is enough. The USO is coming up and she has already played too much. Playing Ana is a perfect ticket out of this tournie for her.

She'll probably "tank respectably" though, not throw the match like a Particular Player did vs. Angie @ IW '03 (because Her Husband couldn't get a US visa as a Convicted Criminal serving his Suspended  Sentence). ;)

i don't think you have got any basis to say Patty threw that match at IW (unless you actually saw it yourself, in which case i will take your word for it). It would have made no sense for Patty to fly 36 hours from Europe to L.A. and back home again, just to throw a match. As i remember the score was 64 61, Patty probably tanked the second set but that was nothing new for her during that period of her career. Throwing a match implies something totally different than merely tanking.

It will go to three probably, but no doubt Kim will pull it out. Though I wouldnt rule out Ana winning as Kim does seem tired.

And d if Ana win, she will be TOP16 seed at USO, and WTA TOP15 player after New Haven (when Bovina and Dechy lose last year pts).

If Kim does have the US Open Series wrapped up then I don't care if she loses..even though this is one of my few chances to watch her on tv I'll be happy if she gets rest for the USO.

This is a battle of two of the best looking players on tour. I hope it is a marathon match so I can look at the players for longer.

I dont belive in this - after 2h50min maraton match against Bartoli, Ana have only 1h40min pause, and right now she play more than 1h30min in dubles (7:5, 2:6 and 0:0 in 3rd)!!!?!?!? Ana, you are real gladiator!?

I like Kim in two sets. Not sure how fit Ana is and after her marathon match today she will need to be in great shape or else Kim could blow her off the court.

In last 7hour Ana play more than 5hour (right now she save 2MP in 3rd set of doubles match, and after 2h20min result is 7:5 2:6 5:5). She is natural ATP player, like i always say about Ana.

Im afraid Kim in two. Ana tends to get worse in the later stages of a tournament and after battling for hours yesterday I think she's too tired.

her doubles match was another marathon
so I'd be very surprised if ana wins, but you never know Peng beat Kim a week ago, and I could easily beat Peng  :p

Kim is usually very good in early rounds against lower ranked players. So Kim in two or if she's having bad day then in three.

Hoffy (I should have said "future husband", of course) was in the final stages of his appeals process re. the visa, and would have joined her there if he got it (but was rejected just then). Coach Choudury was delayed in being able to fly due to being almost ova the flu, and told PP on the phone the day B4 that he'd be there for her next match. She told him "don't bother, I'm coming home after the first one". (Meaning she intended to lose because we "Ammi's", as she calls us, wouldn't err, let the Felon Fly here). ;)

That could easily have meant, "i think i'm going to lose" as opposed to "i'm going to lose on purpose". I do have an anecdote for you about that match though. Like you said, Patty showed up alone, without Choudury and without Hoffy, which was a first for her. She had nobody to organize her practice for her and so she was going around herself asking a bunch of different players, hat in hand. Finally she scraped up Tammy Tanasugarn who hit with her on the morning of the match. Apparently Tammy isn't a big admirer of the Peppermint One, and straight after the hit, Tammy went to see her friend Angie Widjaja and reported that Patty was struggling with her backhand on the fast hardcourts, and a few other tips.

The way things have been going lately...I suggest that next polls have an extra option:
player 1 wins in 2,
player 1 wins in 3,
player 2 wins in 2,
player 2 wins in 3,
player 1 withdraws with injury
player 2 withdraws with injury
