The official site only has the list of last year
And only mentions Venus Williams and Anastasia Myskina as the 2005 players

I didn't know Molik was playing here... or even planning to... did she win it last year?

I didn't know Koukalova was ranked so low either.

well, as much as i know anna is going there. she doesn't like the US hardcourt season and prefers europe, plus - she has a nice past on this tourny (yes yes, it changes surface each year and that's why she won it)
i suppose molik will defend.

You're right! If Venus will play like she did some minutes ago, there won't be a Venus - Nastya final ;)

Well I guess her biggest reason is that she hasn't ever been in Sweden.

Wow, Venus had been avoiding Tier I all her career, and now she is going to Tier III?
I'm not sure what she is doing, but after winning a slam, I would find it a bit embarassing to take the prizemoney from those lower ranked that are struggling to find moeny to sustain their career. Oh well...good luck anyway, and Myskina:).

I thought Venus would have pulled out of this by now; especially after winning Wimbledon & there being a tournament in the US to play in the same week. Either she's ultra-committed to not letting people down or she's getting lots of money. Good for the event either way. So glad Anastasia is here and not in LA. This is a nice event to build up more confidence before Canada and U.S Open.

I only see 2-3 players who can give Venus or Myskina too much trouble here. Then again, Myskina has had a rocky year.

The draw has very solid seeds for a tourney of this level, but after Top seeds the rest of the field just falls off..

The WTA must have asked both of them to play here, because typically they do not allow top 10 players to play in a Tier IV.

Second WC goes indeed to Caroline Wozniacki. So there's only a Gold/Silver Exempt WC left. That means Hanna Nooni & Emma Laine have to play qualies.

That's so cool, thx for the Info. Caroline had only been promised a WC for the qualifying, perhaps that would have given her a better chance to win some matches, but if she gets a good draw she'll be ok :)

Go Caroline!! :)

Btw, its wierd, at Wimbledon she said she had a WC, don't mention Qualies...

Anyway to Danish TV2 Caro says that she's going to play doubles with Myskina :yeah:
