Hey :)

Last year, the WTA Tour Championships (Year-End Champs) were held in the PYW competition by using the eight real-life best players of the year (Davenport, Mauresmo, Myskina, Kuznetsova, Dementieva, Sharapova, Serena and Zvonareva).

It's still a long way before we reach this event this year, but I want to have a poll on whether you think we should use the real-life eight players, or the best eight players in PYW throughout the year. A simple question, give it some thought and vote :)

:wavey:

The poll will close on the 1st of November.

I think you should use the real eight best players. You have used the real players at every tournament so far, so why not use them at this one? ;)

The real players

Cos in every tournament we have a real plaers And seeded as in real draw (not according PYW rankings)

We can play PYW with the eight best PYW players throughout the year for fun or as additional tournament between the seasons

Although I voted for the eight best PYW players, I think we should do both. After the real Masters, we have a month or two off season without any tournaments. In that period we could organize our own Masters with the 8 best PYW players. Otherwise, I have the feeling that the work you do on the rankings is rather in vain. Ofcourse, this is just my opinion...

I like the idea of both. :)

Real, because we all know that Hantuchova or Clijsters will end up winning if we don't do the real.

The PYW off course, it makes no sense to do otherwise, it would create false final rankings and would rape the game

Isn't that something top ranked players do? Win tournaments. And it has been awhile since Daniela has won a tournament, so I wouldn't immediately conclude that she'd win the tournament.

Yes, that is exactly my objection to using the rela players. It puts certain players too high on the rankings (though not doing well at the WTA Champs means getting few points, but still).

But you use the real players for every other tournament, so it would be kinda stupid not to. You even say in the signature:

Every tournament starts with the original draw and in the end, the most popular player that week will win.

Isn't it funny how only Daniela fans voted for the second option?

I know :p I am not sure what to do  I might even be in favour of not having the Championships at all

Still think that the best is to play both things as real as PYW leaders

Seeing that the YEC starts next week, are we going the do the real event or the one with the top PYW players? Or both?

There are two real options:

1) The eight best PYW players (Seen as this is the most popular option in the poll)
2. A combination, with for instance the eight (or four) best real-life players and the eight additional (or four) best PYW players that are not in the Top Eight in reality.

I kinda like your second option. It would definitely content both parties.

If we agree to do this, I'd suggest do take the best eight from real life and the best eight from PYW, but still in a round robin format. So that would mean that there would be four groups. I think that would be a great way to end the PYW season. Anyway, do you have the race for this season? Or are we going to take the top 8 players from the entry ranking (which would take less efforts IMO).

The Race shouldn't be too hard to create (It would be from the AO until Philadelphia / Québec City / Busan), but without the quality points I think?

I actually think having four groups of four players would be a special ending to the season :)

Sorry, the quality points are included (but only from the US Open onwards, cause that is when we started using them).

She will make it to the PYW Year-End Championships.

The best eight real-life players will qualify, together with the best eight PYW players that are not part of the best eight in reality.
