and what a tie breaker it was.
zvonareva and myskina shared "a moment" in women's tennis, both hitting some unbelievable winners against match points. both saved multiple match points before myskina won 17-15 after MP was given to her by a netcord ball that dribbled over the net ever so slightly.
a year later, two players are going to drop out of some important milestones - myskina will drop out of the top10 after dropping form since the olympic games, and vera will drop out of the top15, from there she eyed top10 (and was part of it for a short period) for so long.
it seems she's been there for years, and she is actually.
since her breakthrough year in 2003 when she first reached top20, grand slam QF (and what a QF it was, beating venus williams en route) she's been there.
top15 ever since USopen 03, (new haven, to be exact), finishing 2004 even better in 11th, after reaching her first year end championships. she won 54 (!!!) matches that year, a career best.
this year she started on a mediocre note, even though she did defend her memphis title, but had 3 first round losses in a row soon after. she had a good run in rome, beating schiavone, jankovic and clay specialist castano before losing to mauresmo in the semis, but a third round appearance (losing to eventual finalist pierce) was the last of her consecutive wins.
she boosts just 18 wins so far this year, and a year after one of the most remarkable sets in women's tennis of the past years, she's going to go back to trying to break through.
she won alot of points during the very end of the year, and she might actually go lower than top20 which would be a real shame, but something has changed for the young russian.
i hope she can work wonders, and reach the semis here again, only to make ammends and win a marvelous tie breaker en route to the title.

One thing to say about this tie-break : A-W-E-S-O-M-E
