I am wondering why Su Wei still partipate in such an low level tournament...Only 10K....
Perhaps she wants to use the ways to gain points as she did last year....
But...she is different this year:sad:
She is outside TOP300 last year and now she is near the TOP 150.
And this kind of tournament really doesn't help her anymore!

Btw, goodluck for her.

well done Natallia ;)
Aurelija  :(
Apr 16th, 2002, 09:33 AM
:fiery: :fiery: Amber and Chin Bee !!
Apr 16th, 2002, 09:50 AM
Good for Su-Wei, Chia-Jung, bad luck Aurelija and Keiko ;)
But Su-Wei should NOT be here. She's virtually a top 150 player, and she's perfectly capable of competing with those in the top 100. This is frankly a waste of a tournament on her limited schedule - she'll get minimal points and winning it will prove nothing. After the WTA tourneys in Asia last year, I assumed that Su-Wei had a brighter future than Angelique Widjaja. But it appears that Angelique's the one who's willing to do what it takes to get to the top 100 quickly.

Very disappointing results from Amber, Chin-Bee and Maki. :fiery:
Especially shocking losses from the latter two. :(
Well done, Su-Wei and Chia-Jung. :)
Keiko, I expected more games than that! ;)

Apr 20th, 2002, 01:12 PM
Aiko Nakamura is still 18 years old.She played at ITF junior until
2 years ago.She was born in 28/12/1983. She is 31st in Japan.
She is 683 now ,but she was 1100 last year. I don't expected that she become such a good player.

Eggy, how many points would Maria have gotten if she had beaten Su Wei? Will her ranking go up at all after this 10k challenger? I would expect it to.
Apr 20th, 2002, 02:39 PM
cat for making final you get 4 pts
winner gets 5 pts
Aiko is not ranked in top 500 so no bonus pts
Su-Wei is ranked 154 so 2 bonus pts (2 in a 10K is massive)
Maria so far has 6 pts, enough to take her into Top 500
Apr 20th, 2002, 02:45 PM
Thanks, Eggy! Do you think Maria could be WTA top 300 by the end of the year? She'll play what, about 6 or 7 more challengers and small WTA tournaments this year? It's hard to figure out! Should Maria make a run at junior #1? Or should she concentrate on improving her WTA ranking as much as possible?
Apr 20th, 2002, 03:19 PM
Aiko  what an upset
Su-Wei  but Maria :bounce: so at least no dilemma of who to cheer for in the final now.
Apr 20th, 2002, 03:34 PM
Aiko & Su-Wei of SF

Why don't we discuss about Maria's career (rankings, matches, etc.) in a new thread called "Sharapova Discussion" in the Russian Roulette, eh?
That way we can talk all about the possiblities in Maria's career.
To Cat's questions, I will post my answers in Sharapova Discussion, alright? Go over there, Cat! *spank your butt*
Eggy, don't tell me that I am naughty! :p

I follow Yoshi's picture's website and find a good Japanese website :) .
Here are more pictures, but the article is in Japanese.
Maria ever down 2-4 in first set but win 8 consecutive games after, good come back Maria :) .
About Su-Wei,I guess she and Chin-Wei won the doubles title, because they recieve the gift, too :D.And Su-Wei's little sister and brother are cute :D.
But I can't imagine she lost 9 consecutive games and down 0-5 in 3rd set .
