I also think that it's the moment to dedicate her a thread (hopefully we have soon other threads for other young italians)

I add that she is 282 in WTA ranking and she has only 1 point to defend until february 2006. :yeah:

Impressive in this beginning of 2005: she seems to be a winner; now she must demonstrate to win also in some more important tournament than 10k, but i'm quite trusting :)

Unfortunately she speaks practically only german, but noone is perfect ;)

She is very strong...but why, instead of going to Fano during the second Wimbledon week, she goes to Bastad (swe) for then coming back in Italy to play in Cuneo???

I try to give an explanation: next week she'll be in Perigueux (France) and she probably hopes to win (and i hope too :bounce: ). In Fano she should play qualies, instead in Bastad she probably will be in MD directly, so i think that she'll play in Fano only if they will give her a WC...

I hope i explained well my think ;)

Yes, Romina has withdrawn in Perigueux  ; perhaps she wants to play in Fano (75k) next week. It will be unlogic (unlogic  , i hope it means something in english...) jump a french 25k and play in a swedish 25k, so i think she'll withdrew from Bastad too. I hope that Romina's future program starts in this way: Fano, Modena, Palermo... :)

Romina has conquered in Bastad (Swe, 25K) victories #56 and #57 of the year beating in first single round Marielle Dittmann 60 62 (always impressive first sets of Romina...) and in first double r. Cetkvoska/Nemeckova (76 64) with Claire De Gubernatis.

The chanche to partecipate at the next slam qualifications is always more near :)

I wait for a Romina's win in Bastad ;) :worship:

I'm not sure she will play wta qualies... she seems to go very slow... first only 10k, now only 25k and 50k (why she avoided Fano?)...

However good luck Romina! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Yes (too late answer? :) )

Yesterday Romina has played and won her first Wta match against an other youth italian promise, Giulia Gabba: 6-1 1-1 ret. the score of the first round of qualies in Palermo ($140k).
Today Rom will face Melinda Czink, #126 wta.

I am not sure about Giulia Gabba, maybe she can be top 150-maximum top 100, but I cannot see her breaking the top 50 at all, I hope she will prove me wrong.

 Romina is on fire....I predicted a top 60-70 by the end of the year, but she is already very close to that....and not many points to defend until the end of the year...pity that she needs to play qualies in Wimbledon, she has no experience on grass, and I cannot see her game on that surface, so she might miss the main draw....but she will be back at US Open, finally in the main draw, let's do some damage there
I am now expecting a top 40-50 finish for 2006...next year, if she stays healthy and plays a full schedule...who knows...Francesca must be very careful not to lose her nr 1 italian ranking !;)

Romina Oprandi torna in campo.

yesterday Romina won a 50.000+H doubles title in Mestre, with Klemenschits and against Barrois/Meusburger. 6-4 6-1 the score.
It's her 8th doubles itf title in career, probably the most prestigious.

Probably more spectators in a 25K than I saw here at the Estoril Open for the WTA SFs. :help:

I see that Romina's personal style and game remain...distinctive. I'll watch the interview later today.

Romina is really one of the most talented players of this decade. I miss her. I would have probably never come back last year, but she did it. Now I hope she can come back stronger, she has a great tennis, not made of power and strong shots: she wins her matches with a good intelligence, she's just too good. Her physic...

Ecellent article about Romina here in French: http://www.lenouvelliste.ch/fr/news/romina-oprandi-la-fille-de-cristal-410-208785

"Injuries are stories of my life, i play when i can. And when i can't, i support my brother or my dad in their companies account"
