Roland Garros prize money breakdown Paydays Set for Roland Garros

There was a memorable line in sports movie a few years ago, “Show me the money!” That line will hold true for close to 300 competitors showing up in Paris the next two weeks. The French Federation is paying the men competitors a tiny bit more than the women. One wonders with the difference so slight, why not just pay both draws equal amounts?

The payout for singles in US dollars calculated from Euros at the exchange rate of $1.26 to a Euro shows;
Men Women

Finalist 554,400 545,581
Semi-finals 277,200 263,500
Quarters 146,386 138,700
Round of 16 76,125 70,345
Round of 32 45,536 41,081

that's not much money. Tennis is pretty low paying compared to basketball, baseball or football.

Tennis is one of the few sports in which you are paid what you're worth not on what you could be worth or on your potential.
