Does any statistically inclined individual on this board know roughly how many points have been needed to qualify in the top 8 for the Year End Championships??

well, davenport and sharapova don't need much now, lindz leadin by one point to sharapova's 1995 points thus far this year.
with the double bonus points in GS they will surely book thier place in the YEC after wimbledon, if not RG already. i assume QF+ will do should they beat seeds in the third and fourth round.

it isn't about how much points but the top eight qualify although the WTA reserves the right for a place issued for a wild card. I guess they may want to use this for a slam winner who doesn't qualify. In the men's the yec goes to slam winners and the other top point earners make up the difference.
