I think Dally is one of the best stories in tennis. Period. It's a shame she gets so little press. Besides Nduke Odizor of Nigeria and maybe the Morrocans Alami, Arazi and El Alaonoui, no other player of African heritage has ever overcome the odds to achieve so much. Or at least none comes to mind. She should be a real inspiration to those who have to overcome the odds to make it to the big time. Here's wishing her continued success.

heartbreaking third set loss.. this kind ones hurts...
Dally was a pretty beatable player for Karolina, and a semifinal and big chance vs Marta in the semis.. Guess sheŽll have to wait her time will come.

Do you remember someone posted an eBay link on here a few months ago, with advertising space on Dally's shirt for auction? Does anyone know if there were any takers? (This did happen, unlikely as it sounds!!!)

All K-Lina fans can't be that dissapointed, she managed to win 2 consecutive matches (which is ALOT considering her lastest form) and lost to Dally who is a clay court specialist and has been playing well lately.

No, there were no takers.

Really? I'm amazed. She's more than capable of getting to the third round on her own merit with a good draw. That in itself would get her match televised. At the very least she could draw a top seed as well. Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of advertising seems worth the $3,000 chance to me.

By the way are you going to get a chance to be at the Allentown tournament again? I might go up for Tuesday and Wednesday.

I agree. And not only did Dally have to overcome the odds of beoming a successful tennis pro coming from Madagascar, but she very nearly failed - the year after she first broke the top 100, she went into a slump. For most players, they just need to work their way back - but it meant that Dally ran out of money, and was forced into retirement for a couple of years. It's testament to her attitude and ability that she managed to come back from that better than before, and it's so heart-warming that she's found a new lease of life as a top 50 player at the age of 28 after so many struggles. Impossible to root against her :yeah:
