View Full Version : A mid-summer dream called Roland Garros

June, 6th 2004.
It was over. Anastasia Myskina had won her 1st Grand Slam title, writing history in Russian tennis.
Who would have thought? Probably very few.
Endure and you may win they say about RG. A tough first match against Molik. Another 1st round exit? Not this time. She decided to enjoy Paris a little more. And she enjoyed it all the way, for 2 weeks.
A perfect mid-summer dream...come true.
One year later she's facing the impossible. Despite an injury, despite the pressure turned into fear she comes back and nobody gives her a chance. Same as last year.
But she touched the sky once. She is not afraid of heights.
Will she stay in Paris a little longer this year too? It's up to her. Like Jens said:
"If she gets to Paris and wins a couple of good matches, maybe she'll feel the magic of Roland Garros again."

June 6, 2004. "Black Saturday" to Dementieva fans. Only that the loss was to Nastya made it bearable.

Hey! With your list of favourites, you´re my best friend from now on

Nastya if at top form would have no problems, but the first round is often difficult. Sanchez Lorenzo is not shy to semi and finals in clay tournaments, (not so much this year), but has the experience to cause an upset if Nastya doesn't show up.

If Nastya doesn´t show up (not meant physically), it doesn´t even matter who she plays :o

Go Go Go nAStYa!!! :bounce:

You know what the good thing is? With the whole day coverages the next two weeks, I need to wake up real early to keep my "other" life running, meaning the French Open forces me to make things I always pushed away from me on an hourly basis. Now I have the matches to force me read books for university and all those stuff...good thing. So, 6 am it is

I´ve already went to the library today to get the books for my BA-papers...I finally did it! ;) Time to breath in and let´s go!!! :D
