Indeed she did VERY WELL... Quite an awesome year... I it reflects to be the same 5 years from now...
I think she can do even better next year :p ( and take a slam in juniors:p )Good tournament despite this loss,Dominika :yeah: :D

Dec 10th, 2005, 12:01 PM
I actually hope she'll be playing way more pros next year. :)

Dec 10th, 2005, 08:45 PM
I think she can do even better next year :p ( and take a slam in juniors:p )Good tournament despite this loss,Dominika :yeah: :D

She did quite well.. but indeed... choky on slams... I personally don't hope she tries to dominate on slams next year, but rather play some 25ks, 50ks, or 75ks.... I believe it will be much more valuale if she gets updated with the WTA tour...

Dec 11th, 2005, 01:18 AM
Yeah I agree. I don't want to see her playing juniors that often. I want to see her in ITFs and some WTA events.

Dec 11th, 2005, 06:45 AM
Isn't she about to be 17 anyways?

Dec 11th, 2005, 02:28 PM
Not "about". She'll be 17 on May. Still half a year remaining.

Dec 11th, 2005, 02:47 PM
Me too, I hope that she will start to play ITF events or even some WTA events.

Dec 11th, 2005, 04:07 PM
Small pic of Domi @ OB. :)

Dec 11th, 2005, 09:51 PM
Thanks for the pic Derek :D  :smooch: and yeah, you are 100% right guys,I would love to see Dominika winning some matchs in a WTA tournament too :D :D I remember she almost qualified for the MD at Rabat this year :D

Dec 11th, 2005, 10:39 PM
I am sure Dominika is playing at least Prague this year to come... last year she almost beated Iveta Benesova.

Dec 16th, 2005, 06:35 PM

should be around top seed for Aus Open.

Dec 16th, 2005, 07:00 PM

Lukas Lacko and Dominika Cibulkova - Best slovak junior tennis players in 2005

source: Lukas Lacko official site (http://lackotenis.dflex.sk/english/main.htm)

Mar 16th, 2006, 03:44 PM
Whoa I had never seen her looking like that  Nice photos, thanks! :D

Are they a couple? From their hilts it seems so!

Mar 16th, 2006, 09:11 PM
WOW!! I haven't seen Domi dressed like that before either. She definately looks good. As for her and Lacko, I don't know if they are a couple. Last year at the US Open, they were just friends, but things could've changed. Last summer, she said that she as concentrating on her tennis and want a boyfriend at the time

Mar 16th, 2006, 10:04 PM
I might be wrong though - I just wondered because the way they're leaning to each other is more like couple than friends.

Mar 17th, 2006, 01:13 AM
she is pretty

Mar 17th, 2006, 01:57 AM
I just searched for "cibulkova" at ITF Juniors (http://www.itftennis.com/juniors/), and found two Cibulkové of Slovakia!

Is Maria Cibulková (07/05/1984) any relation to Domi?

Dr. Andrew Broad

http://geocities.com/andrewbroad/tennis/ (http://geocities.com/andrewbroad/tennis/)

Mar 17th, 2006, 11:41 AM
I have no info on that unfortunately. If they're really sisters then it'd be coincidental since their birthdays are one day apart. (6th and 7th of May)

That Maria Cibulková has played one match on her career, 5 years ago, on a G4 Junior tournament...

There have been rumours about some Monika Cibulkova though, but I never believed on them.

Anyway, Cibulková is probably a common last name for women.. isn't it the female for Cibulec? I think it's a common men last name there. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Mar 17th, 2006, 12:41 PM
Nice pics. :D Thanks. :)

Mar 17th, 2006, 01:10 PM
what is her next tourment?

Mar 26th, 2006, 01:49 PM

Mar 26th, 2006, 11:34 PM
Good luck! A WC would be awesome. :D

Mar 29th, 2006, 07:47 AM
She's also scheduled for a 25k in Mexico quite soon. :)

She'll play tomorrow at Miami. Good luck!

Mar 30th, 2006, 11:07 PM
I was lucky enough to meet Dominika in Miami! :D I got her autograph and watched her match vs. Lauren Albanese. Domi lost this match, but her opponent who is from the U.S. played very well and outhit Domi on most points. Domi has a good forehand, but still it's not much of a weapon like some other players have. Albanese has a big serve and great groundstrokes and those are what really troubled Domi. Domi led 5-2 in the first set, but still needed a tiebreak to win the set. And from then on it was all Lauren. The final score was 7-6(5) 2-6 3-6.

We'll have to talk about this. :p

Apr 1st, 2006, 05:47 AM
It's great you got to meet her. She really is a friendly and sweet girl.

What really surprised me about this match was Domi's serve. She got a high percentage of 1st serves in, 79% to be exact. This isn't always the case. At the US Open last year, she had a really hard time getting her 1st serve in during her quarterfinal loss to Alexa Glatch. The problem with her match against Albanese proved to be winning points off of her 1st serve. She only won 49% of the points off of her 1st serve. That number is really low when you get 79% of your 1st serves in. Domi needs to find a way win more points off of the 1st serve. This is an important aspect of her development. She is still young and has time to work on it. Hopefully, Domi will learn from this and use it to her advantage.

Apr 2nd, 2006, 01:57 AM
She didn't win a lot of points on her first serve because she didn't serve big or place it well. It was kind of up the middle the whole time. Also Domi looked scared to come to net, because she'd hit a big forehand in the corner which would get Albanese on the run, then Domi would just stand at the baseline and Lauren would through up a lob to get back in the point and Dominika would have to start all over again. She could have finished points a lot easier by coming in to net after the groundstrokes.

Apr 2nd, 2006, 11:49 PM
Pics of Domi in Miami. :)

Apr 3rd, 2006, 08:40 PM
Domi doesn't come to net a lot. When she does, it is usually isn't pretty. Her net game is terrible. It is definately an area she needs to work on. It would certainly be to her advantage to develop a good short game. Domi isn't the biggest girl and I don't see her growing a ton, so a short game would be a huge asset. She'll need it against the power players. Right now, she can neat most of the juniors and lower ranked pros by staying at the baseline and outlasting her opponents in rallies. But she won't get away with that strategy once she moves up the rankings. She is still young and has plenty of time to improve her game. Hopefully the coaches around her will work on her short game

Fed Cup

Group A: Slovakia def. Finnland 3:0

Magdaléna Rybarikova - Piia Suomalainen 6:0, 6:0
Cibulkova, Rybarikova - Tuohimaa, Suomalainen 6:3, 6:2

On Monday and Tuesday it was Hantuchova who lead Slovakia to victories over Luxembourg and the Netherlands, but on Wednesday it was up to the teenagers, Dominika and Magdalena, to carry Slovakia on. Slovakia finished 3-0 in their group and moves onto the semifinals.

Good job Domi and Magda! :clap2:

FED CUP http://www.fedcup.com/ (http://www.fedcup.com/)
Europe/Africa Zone Group I: Round robin (TC Lokomotiv, Plovdiv, Bulgaria; red clay)

Pool A:
1. Slovak Republic (won 3 ties, lost 0)
2. Netherlands (won 2, lost 1)
3. Luxembourg (won 1, lost 2)
4. Finland (won 0, lost 3)

SLOVAK REPUBLIC d. LUXEMBOURG, 3:0 (Monday 17th April)
+ Magdaléna Rybáriková d. Mandy Minella, 6-3 6-3
+ Daniela Hantuchová d. Anne Kremer, 6-3 6-3
+ Hantuchová/Janette Husárová d. Minella/Claudine Schaul, 6-2 6-4

SLOVAK REPUBLIC d. NETHERLANDS, 2:1 (Tuesday 18th April)
+ Magdaléna Rybáriková d. Elise Tamaela, 6-3 6-2
+ Daniela Hantuchová d. Michaëlla Krajicek, 4-6 7-6 (7/5) 6-2
- Dominika Cibulková/Janette Husárová lt. Marrit Boonstra/Brenda Schultz-McCarthy, 6-1 0-6 4-6

SLOVAK REPUBLIC d. FINLAND, 3:0 (Wednesday 19th April)
+ Dominika Cibulková d. Katarina Tuohimaa, 6-2 6-1
+ Magdaléna Rybáriková d. Piia Suomalainen, 6-0 6-0
+ Cibulková/Rybáriková d. Suomalainen/Tuohimaa, 6-3 6-2

Slovakia had a great team this week, with Queen Daniela and her two lovely handmaidens (the beautiful Domi and the gorgeous Magda), and they won all their singles-rubbers! :hearts:

Daniela (after beating Krajicek): "There were really hard conditions, very slow and slippery clay. I think I had match under control, especially in third set. Why do they change tennis-balls after 9-11 games and not after 7th or 9th game? I feel sometimes that I hit the hard balls like a medicine ball, and I can't hit the ball on the other side of the court after 10th game."

Europe/Africa Zone Group I: Promotion play-off

SLOVAK REPUBLIC d. GREAT BRITAIN, 2:1 (Saturday 22nd April)
+ Magdaléna Rybáriková d. Elena Baltacha, 7-5 6-3
+ Daniela Hantuchová d. Anne Keothavong, 6-2 6-1
- Dominika Cibulková/Janette Husárová lt. Baltacha/Claire Curran, 4-6 3-6

I may be British, but I was delighted to see that Slovakia won this tie, with victories for Dani and Magda! :D

I only wish the BBC had had the decency to televise this mouthwatering tie. They televise every Davis Cup tie involving GB, but they wasted both their Freeview interactive channels on snooker! :fiery:

Slovakia face a play-off in July (draw to be made on 25th April) to go into World Group II for 2007.
GB remain in Europe/Africa Zone Group I.

Domi makes final of 50k :yeah:  :D

a report from spotysboy
Cibulkova d (2)Morigami 6-2,7-6(5)

Dominika rarely missed much through the match. She came out firing (after being a few minutes late to the court) and jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Akiko missed out on two break opportunties in EACH of Domi's first two service games. Serving at 1-4 Akiko got a bad call and she let everyone know, including the lineswoman, who immediately ran over to the ump and tattled on her. Code violation for language by Akiko!!! I never saw that coming! I've never known any of the asian girls to swear but....there ya go. In the second set, Akiko stayed with her toe to toe, picking up the pace on her returns and down the line forehands. She actually broke to lead 3-2 but then when serving for the set at 5-4 she just got tight and lost that game, giving Dominika free reign to take control in the tiebreak. She seemed really happy when she won, it was nice to see! Good luck to her in the final!

May 6th, 2006, 10:25 PM
Well done!

And happy birthday

Dominika's ranking has fallen because she hasn't defend some of her titles and because of that she got the worst draw possible at RG.

(1) Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova RUS vs. Dominika Cibulkova SVK
Wing Yau Venise Chan HKG vs. Victoria Larriere FRA
Lynn Philippe LUX - Adeline Goncalves FRA
Bibiane Schoofs NED vs. (16) Teliana Pereira BRA

Nastya is going to be a very tough match for Domi.
