It seems like an African cardinal is the second favourite in the running.
And considering the expansion of the catholic church in Africa is huge, even the biggest on earth, we might have the first African pope in history, if i'm correct!

Actually, I think that would be perfect.

it would never happen

Depends on which way the smoke wafts.

if memory serves me right (I was very little at the time :p ), I remember watching a report on TV about Nostradamus's prophecies on the papacy... it was said that he predicted that, after John Paul II long term, an African Pope would be elected... problem is that, after a few years, this Pope would have been assassinated and III World War would ensue...

I don't think we will ever see that because John Paul II will outlive us all. :p

In theory, yes. In practice, we will see. I don't see why not, everyone that enters the Conclave (below 80 years) can be elected, and campaigning is not allowed ;). However, in principle most of the Europeans would likely be opposed to electing a pope from America or from Africa, I would think, since that would take power away from their hands. A significant proportion of the College of Cardinals that will take part in the Conclave are Europeans, I think they will probably prefer someone from Europe...

I'm pretty sure it's gonna happen. There are a lot predictions about this and my mum says so so I think that yes.

:haha: your mom says so eh?:p

More of an impossibility than a possibilty, imo.
The power base isn't set up or even prepared for such a situation.
In fact, I'd honestly be surprised if they even considered it.
