LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Star Trek: Enterprise," the latest incarnation of one of the most storied franchises in televised science-fiction history, will end its four-season run in May, broadcaster UPN said on Wednesday.

UPN said the last episode would air on Friday, May 13. The series generated 98 episodes over its run, although it struggled in the ratings.

The original "Star Trek" gave rise to generations of fans who eagerly took in movies, books, and follow-on television shows like "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and "Star Trek: Voyager."

"Star Trek: Enterprise" was positioned as a prequel to the original "Star Trek." It starred Scott Bakula (news (http://us.rd.yahoo.com/DailyNews/celeb/nm/tv_nm/media_startrek_dc/14178147/*http://news.search.yahoo.com/search/news?fr=news-storylinks&p=%22Scott%20Bakula%22&c=&n=20&yn=c&c=news&cs=nw)) and premiered in September 2001.

UPN is a unit of Viacom Inc.

I've never watched it but I had planned to one day....:(

Doesn't a show need 5 years to be able to run in syndication? You would think they would go that extra year just for that.

Thank god.

Yay! I thought TNG was okay and DS9 was not bad, but I absolutely LOVED Voyager. Then Enterprise totally ruined it for me. Horrible.

Enterprise isn't really "Star Trek."

It's like a wannabe hip "cool" Star Trek. They tried to make it for everyone, and failed. In the process they managed to turn off the hard core Trek fans, too. They should wipe this series out of the "Star Trek" history.

DS9 was the bomb :worship: It comes on daily :D

UPN actually said at the end of last season that Enterprise might not be back this season, but they gave it one last shot. But, this season seems even worse than the previous ones.

There's no need for a show to be on for five seasons to make it to syndication. "Gilligan's Island" only aired three seasons and was in syndication forever. The original Star Trek also only aired for three seasons.

Of course, there's rather less syndication of non-first-run shows now that we're in the 500-channel universe: a lot of shows end up on sister cable channels of the networks, while the same few shows end up in non-first-run syndication (Seinfeld, The Simpsons, Everybody Loves Raymond, and a few others) in every market. Some of the first-run syndication crap like Bitch Judy and the rest of the courtroom shows, or the glut of makeover shows, probably don't cost any more for stations than the non-first-run syndies like Seinfeld....

I only saw the odd episode and I never really developed a taste for it...it felt a bit too macho, and somehow not Star Trek...

i love enterprise :D t'pol is hot  and that should be enough of a reason for everyone to watch it! (i love the humor in it too but that's a detail compared to t'pol :hearts: )

I'm no Trekkie but here's my order:

TNG>Voyager>DS9>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Enterprise  (only watched it three times or so)

I'm glad that it's gone.

I don't like Enterprise, the development is simply totally strange and not very logical compared to the other series. It is a lot more fight than soŽlving out problems which has been the biggest plus of TNG (which also differed Star trek from Star Wars...). It is good it found an end. I am just worried if they will do something else in the near future.
I liked TNG the best, then Voyager, then DS9, then Enterprise (I mnever watched the Original series too much).

I am huge star trek fan, have seen every episode of TNG, DS9 and voyager-hated the original and didnt like Enterprise that much either. They made a big mistake when they went back in time to do the series, star trek is all about new technologies and new races, not goin back to when they didnt even use transporters and have shields. The ships were crap aswell. They need to make a new series set after voyager. The problem would be coming up with original storey lines that havernt been done, but they are very intelligent writers that work on star trek i am sure they could come up with something

Order of faves: TNG, voyager, DS9 (although the last few series of DS9 were right up there with TNG and Voyager ) :) Enterprise>>>>>>>>>>>>Original (i really cant stand this one :tape: )

My main problem is that "Enterprise" is so much more advanced than TOS.

If they put them on one of those old clunky looking things it would have been better.

I hated DS9, i can't believe you guys liked that. TNG was the best of them all. Voyager completed sucked until they brought 7 on, then it became one of the better series. Enterprise wasn't bad. But the idea of showing us how it all began was supid in my opinion. I don't wanna see them developing warp speed and what not, i wanna see them blowing eachother up in space, and its much more exciting when they have the tecnology to do it :p

Voyager completed sucked until they brought 7 on, then it became one of the better series.

Completely agree the first couple of series of voyager completely sucked. The Borg and 7 changed that completely then, it became the BEST star trek ever. The last episode was amazing. Loved TNG, it was brilliant. Loved Patrick Stuart and his sheer baldness. Also thought that Deep Space was occasionally top notch and at other times dull.

But anyways. Enterprise does not deserve the name Star Trek. The cast were apalling. As a straight female the lure of T'pul is lost on me, and the shots of Scot in his underwear/ tight trousers didn't make it up. It should have never been made.

Favourites; Voyager, TNG, DEEP..............

Enterprise and the original not on the list. Although William Shatner was a total babe.
