In the course of his broadcasting career, Rick Majerus has generally managed to inform and entertain basketball fans with his wisdom and sense of humor.

On occasion though, he has managed to stick his foot in his mouth, saying something that was neither wise nor funny. At times, he has lurched into the inappropriate.

One of moments occurred last week when he was calling Kentucky's college basketball game at Tennessee.

That contest was one of the early games on ESPN, preceding the marquee game of the night, Illinois at Wisconsin.

On air, Majerus said he wanted to see actress Ashley Judd, an ardent Wildcats fan, so he wouldn't "have to watch adult videos back at the hotel."

Turnover, Majerus.

"We recognize it was inappropriate, as does Rick, and we apologize," said Mike Soltys, a spokesman for ESPN.

This isn't the first time Majerus' employer has had to force an apology out of him for comments deemed inappropriate. During his first season as coach at the University of Utah, Majerus was reprimanded and forced to apologize after telling Milwaukee radio listeners in October 1989 that there was "a great deal of irregular sexual behavior" in women's collegiate athletics.
