Here's the draw for the second round of the Sunderland tournament (with the 1st round still to be played)
Yvonne Doyle (IRE: 394) V T. Lock (2.3)/ L. Smith (2.2)
F. Geldart (2.3) / Arabella Martin (2.1) V Rebecca Fong (1.5)
Megan Emmett (1113) V Mhairi Neish (2.1) / Kirsten Laidler (2.2)
Alice MacKenzie (2.1) / Victoria Jones (2.1) V Rebecca Llewellyn (1122)
Helen Broome (1150) V G. Smith (2.3) / K. Hughes (1.5)
Carina Dalton (2.1) / Lisa Quiller (2.3) V Carly Homewood (1031)
Katy Shaw (1.5) V C. Smith (2.1) / Kirsty McRae (2.2)
J. Lott (3.1) / Lynsey Davison (2.1) V Alice Barnes (785)
A bit of a shock that Yvonne Doyle's in this tournament. I thought she would've gone to the 10k in Amiens.

Good to see Kirsty McRae winning her match, because she lives about 2 streets away from me!! :)

Martin, her junior grand prix results were good enough for her to qualify for the 18 & under junior masters (last weekend), but for some reason didn't take part. I doubt the British tour event last week was the reason, as several players (Neish, Allan, South, Dalton, etc) took part in both.
However today didn't go so well for McRae. Today's results were:
Yvonne Doyle (IRE) BEAT L. Smith 6-0, 6-2
Arabella Martin BEAT Rebecca Fong 6-2, 6-3
Mhairi Neish BEAT Megan Emmett 6-0, 7-5 (VERY good result for Neish)
Rebecca Llewellyn BEAT Alice MacKenzie 6-3, 7-5
Helen Broome BEAT K. Hughes 6-2, 3-6, 6-2
Carina Dalton BEAT Carly Homewood 6-1, 6-7, 6-0
Katy Shaw BEAT Kirsty McRae 6-2, 6-2
Alice Barnes BEAT Lynsey Davison 6-1, 6-1

Today's results were:
Yvonne Doyle BEAT Arabella Martin 6-3, 6-1
Rebecca Llewellyn BEAT Mhairi Neish 6-4, 6-2
Helen Broome BEAT Carina Dalton 6-0, 6-2
Alice Barnes BEAT Katy Shaw 6-0, 6-0
Yvonne Doyle BEAT Rebecca Llewellyn 6-3, 1-6, 6-2
Alice Barnes BEAT Helen Broome 6-3, 6-2
So, little to get excited about there really. Although at least
Llewellyn did give Doyle a tough match (they are over 700 ranking places apart).
Great result for Alice here. Just a shame it wasn't in a tournament that would earn her some world-ranking points.

Thanks for that Bluepastures, I don't know Kirsty that well at all, although I've seen her play a few times. I think with her tennis, it's a case of give it a real go in terms of trying to become a pro this year and if nothing is really happening, then she'll probably give up, well in trying to make it on the tour. Which makes her decision not to play in the Junior Masters this week.
Good win for Alice in the final though, it would be good to see her making it on a higher level.
