It used to always be Na Li, but lately certain people have been writing it backwards. Just in the interest of clarity, which is correct?
is it Li Na, or Na Li? Can we get some consistency?vogus Jan 21st, 2005, 11:24 PM It used to always be Na Li, but lately certain people have been writing it backwards. Just in the interest of clarity, which is correct? New Jan 21st, 2005, 11:29 PM It used to always be Na Li, but lately certain people have been writing it backwards. Just in the interest of clarity, which is correct? Well I think it has been said a million times... Li is her Family (surname) name. In the Chinese way of calling name, they do it with the surname first, so it's Li Na. However, since in most countries, people put the surname behind, (eg Maria Sharapova), so I guess, those who don't know the chinese rule would refer to her as Na Li and those who do know her, will prefer to call her in the Chinese way. The same case for Zheng Jie/Jie Zheng. :) Maybe she should just get an English name like Lina, so we can call her Lina Li to avoid confusion. :p ;) PointBlank Jan 21st, 2005, 11:30 PM Li Na,Zheng Jie,Peng Shaui .. Last names first .. vogus Jan 21st, 2005, 11:32 PM Thanx, in that case i will stay with Na Li, Jie Zheng, etc since it is correct from a non-Chinese point of view. Hachiko Jan 21st, 2005, 11:32 PM If people call her Li Na, they might as well call her Lina. firefly_ac Jan 21st, 2005, 11:58 PM If people call her Li Na, they might as well call her Lina. Imagine Lina Li Na fammmmedspin Jan 22nd, 2005, 12:09 AM If people call her Li Na, they might as well call her Lina.:worship:  Which indeed they will........ | |
