3-2 Mirza in the second!

This girl has A LOT of talent! That forehand is very very good... world class shot!

Both girls are playing excellent tennis. Serena was smothering in the first set, but Sania is playing great in the second. She's got a fantastic forehand -- just that shot alone and her attitude on court should take her into the top 50. And she's only 18, so she can improve some of her weaknesses.

Mirza has a beautiful forehand and is lethal when she sets up.

4-3 Serena. Rena is definitely being tested a lot more in this round than she has in the past two. But she's been serving HOT!!!

Serena's serving has been the difference in the match. If she would have served like her previous match, Sania would've won the second set.

Tells you how she is playing!

This second set, Sania is pretty awesome. I love her game and what she showed.

I like her forehand. :)

She really needs to work on her serve though. It's not bad, but not good enough. The top players will be all over her serve.

High quality match. Sania fought off two match points with big shots.

Serena had nearly twice as many winners as errors in the second set!

I'm sure we'll hear from Sania again. she's only 18. She's got to improve her serve and her movement but she has a great attitude and fearlessness out there.

I don't know. Why?
Or actually, don't bother. It won't actually make a difference to Sania's blossoming tennis career.

Hopefully she'll be in Pattaya after Oz, and she'll surely have a WC in Hyderbad, perhaps she'll do some damage!

Brad Gilbert said after the match that he thought she could reach the Top 50 in the next 12 months.

That's what I thought he said, but I didn't hear too clearly and thought he may have even said Top 15!

Let's see, their is alot of young talent today. I just feel that everytime someone with a bit of potential plays people think they will become the next Justine or something.

With that said she did play well, but I guess we will all have to wait and see if she lives up to it all. :D

just cos you not heard of her before doesnt mean no one else has
she's been touted as a highly thought of prospect for some time now.

She's improved about 200% when i last saw her nearly 2 yrs ago.

She's got great family backing, she wont lose her head.

good job sania! obviously she couldnt settle her nerves in the first set and she couldn't read serena's serve at all. she needs to learn how to go for the shots at the right time and capitalize on those break points.

serena's serving out wide was just

but sania, terrific job, i hope you back it up throught out the year and hopefully you hit the top 30.

Just a thought but when Serena's serve is on, it's pretty hard to capitilize on the break points. Serena's survival instinct is lethal. After she settled down, Sania played very well. Her movement improved in the second set. I'm pretty sure we haven't seen the last of this one.

Sania can really hit those forehands deep. Too bad she never played Serena before, because she attempted some net activity and was punked. Even though Venus and Serena are mostly baseline players, they're both brilliant and sometimes dangerous at the net with those long arms and sprint ability.
