Who are your 5 darkhorse picks for the Australian Open (players outside of the top 10 seeds (Lindsay, Amelie, Nastya, Maria, Sveta, Elena, Serena, Venus, Vera and Alicia) that you think have a legit shot of making the quarterfinals / semis) ???

Mine:

Patty Schnyder - last year's semifinalist is in great form picking up a title at Gold Coast

Tatiana Golovin - Will be looking to improve on last year's fourth round performance

Dinara Safina - seems to have refound her game with a whipping of Sugiyama last week

Na Li - with a good draw (not the #1 seed for the third consecutive tournament !!!)

Nicole Vadisova - if she has recovered from her illness, should get to at least the round of 16

Petrova, Bovina and Sesil Karatantcheva.

I know it's a tall order, but I hope Sania Mirza makes a good run... 3rd/R16 even?

sprem on her day is a pretty good player so i'd put her up there. players like golovin, vaidisova, safina if they can be consistent they could cause a few problems in the draw and also petrova and bovina, stosur.

I'd say Hantuchova would be a dark horse. Otherwise, I don't see how any of the top players won't win it
