Arantxa

But some consolation for Venus (thankfully she is not injured after all the talk about her leg).

Get ready for the AO Venus! :)

They played really well. It's a pity they dont play doubles more often; they would have won at least two slams a year for the last few years.

They didn't play at all last year due to various injuries, but if injuries aren't an issue this year, we might see them playing more. However, I doubt they will play doubles at the AO, ladies or mixed.

Very impressive win in doubles for the sisters against a very good doubles team.
Correction: Very impressive win in doubles for the sisters against two very good doubles players.

But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong since I don't know ASV and Kutzy to have played as a team previously.

I could of sworn Kuznetsova played exclusively with Navratilova in 2003.

I lied! In 2002, Kuznetsova paired with Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario until Navratilova apprenticed her.

Sveta and ASV made the final in Bali, a Tier III, in 2004.
But I wouldn't call them a great team.

They were 24-3 in their six tour events together, winning the first three in consecutive events (with wins over Navratilova/S Williams and Black/Likhovtseva) and losing the finals of the other three. I'd say its better than average.

Arantxa/Sveta are a very good doubles TEAM. They've played with each other enough, and even if they haven't played competitive tennis a lot together, they certainly know eachother very well considering they've trained and practiced together for a couple of years.
Congrats Venus/Serena :)

Better luck next time Arantxa/Sveta ;)
