Surprised not to see a thread :D Saw her at Surbiton, last year... Seemed to be an impressive player with a big serve and groundies. Caught my eye on [and off] court!

her brother, Dmitri, could be moving to Crystal Palace from Dynamo Moscow
seen her about twice i think, she does crack that FH but she needs to be in better shape to go higher.
She does like to play in UK. i guess if Dmitri lives in London, then she can have a free house to stay in when she does play near London :)
She played well, and as I said earlier I was impressed. Unfortunately, the outside courts at Surbiton are predominantly surrounded by netting, so I struggled to take great photos. Additionally, this was the first outing for my new camera, I enjoyed using it though, a lot.

I am surprised that she has not risen higher. I recall Sania Mirza playing her in the finals of a small tournament 1-2 years ago and I thought Sania had a real tough time winning. However, I notice that Irina is still in the 300s while Sania has zoomed to the top....

No results from her since last year
Has she decided to finish her career?

I am curious as to where Irina has been lately, she has been very quiet on the tennis scene! It appears she has played two events this year, both in Israel.
I am going to try and get more photos on here too, I found some from a previous grasscourt season + some from Sunderland w/Ipek Senoglu (not sure which year).

In February, she played in Ramat Hasharon, and her results are as follows:
R32 vs (Q) KHATSKO, Irina UKR 6-0 6-3
R16 vs (W) ASTRUGO, Chen ISR 6-4 5-7 4-6
Then the following week, she played in Raanana (also in Israel), and lost in the first round to the #5 seeds, Veronika Raimrova of the Czech Republic, 3-6, 1-6.
Admittedly, not great results--but I am pleased to at least see Irina is playing, and not injured or finished with tennis altogether.

A little background info on Irina: born on May 20, 1984 she has a career-high singles ranking of 226 which she achieved on March 1, 2004; and a career-high doubles ranking of 272, on April 14, 2003.
Sunderland doubles with Ipek Senoglu of Turkey, as promised:
These three are courtesy of Ipek's website, which is currently under construction.

What I am now seriously considering is perhaps setting up and running a website for Irina, assuming she intends to continue playing. It would be great if either I, or someone who may see her at a tournament could let her know, give her the address etc. and take things from there. I can hopefully get to work with it this weekend. I will keep you posted.

I won't post any more for now, although I have some great pics from JB again... And Advantage-tennis. I think I will save the rest for the site (for the time being).
The address is www.irinabulykina.cjb.net (http://www.irinabulykina.cjb.net/) - hopefully it will get to Irina soon!

I have contacted Ipek Senoglue (the Turkish player in the photos), to pass on the website address to Irina, hopefully will all work well! I have done some more to the site, please do check it out!
 I will try and reduce the size when I have some time.. But in this instance, z00m is not always such a bad thing ;)

John (blue pastures) has sent me various photos which look good, I will add them soon! Thanks J-Legend :D

Having difficulty finding time to complete and update the website at the moment. Hopefully Irina will start playing more soon, especially as tennis is now coming to UK. If I can get to see her play this year, I'll be very happy and get many photos.

Two photos from Universiade games, courtesy of tobi:
Lyubtscova is tight player, so loss to her is not a tragedy :D

I hope she plays surbiton again this year and makes it to the second round :D I cant make it the qualies, or monday/tuesday  Very unlikely though.

Well I think it is pretty clear that Irina is not coming to England this summer. I should be able to start doing a lot more work on the website soon, because I will get a big break after my exams. Also, I am pretty much done with the final touches to my other websites (although one of them is a week short of two years old :tape: )
May 27th, 2006, 07:33 AM
The current cut-off for Surbiton qualifying is 665, while Irina's ranking would have been around the 740 mark at time of entry, so I don't think there is too much chance of her getting in now  I would really love to know what her plans are, will continue to try and find out.
Finished all the work on my other site, so this week should be able to do plenty for Irina's.

Ok, the photos above have been resized for your pleasure :) If anyone would like the high res versions, just let me know and I'll send them on. I am guessing Irina has not seen the website , and she definitely is not competing...

Irina's retired! I was speaking to her former manager (who also managed Egorova & Syssoeva) at Wimbledon on Wednesday and he told me she's quit tennis, when I asked why she's not appeared in any tournaments recently. Unable to keep up the required fitness levels, apparently.
He's now working with a Russian junior caled Margarita Edinarova who lost in Roehampton ITF junior qualifying.
