Let's face it- kids like Sesil, Nicole etc.. are big baseline
serving machines and someone as talented as Patty can exploit
all the weak spots w/out much fuss.

No... Power hitters, big servers, baseliners, knock Patty out all the time... She has finess and makes a good living playing deep into a lot of tounaments, but hardly ever wins one... THE SESILATOR, well, she is still human... 5 straight matches played including a very long one yesterday in the blistering heat, drained... Patty will be SESILATED with little difficulty on another day... ;)

Sesil's service is not that good, it's one of her weeknesses and she needs to work on it (apparantelly she worked more the slices than the services during the last months).

Anyways, well done Patty- a very good tournament!

Oh- sorry. I'm thinking of Michaela rather than Sesil, that
kid's got a "Richard" serve.

Never saw her play but people say it's an impressive service. It's so exciting to see how the game of all those youngsters will evolve :bounce: .

Sorry Patty fans, we are off-topic

Watched her this week on the HOPMAN CUP. She's got
the same service motion as Richard. One big swooping motion

It's that time of year again when Patty taunts and teases with
her hopes of winning BIG!. There's a nice article in today's
SYDNEY MORNING HERALD where Patty says she wants to go
a step further than last year's SF in Melbourne.

Can she do it? Will she do it? And the bigger question..
will we all get suckered into it too? :tape:

The answers? Yes, maybe depending on the side of bed she
wakes on that particular round, and yes. :p

 well done Patty! Quite in impressive score, given the fact that Sesil has defeated some talented players. Hopefully Patty can go all the way this tournament and she is definitely capable of winning this tournament, especially if she wins her match against Tati. But with Patty you never know, I just checked what her last tournament victory was (Zurich) and it dates back from 2002 :o. True, there are even top20 players with no tournament victory yet, but for Patty, not winning a tournament in 2 years... well, hopefully 2005 will bring a new tournament victory (and why not in 2 weeks, like Greenout stated in the previous post, but that'll be very unlikely)

Patty (and Hofmann) have been bullshitting and sweet-talking the press for two full years about her incredibly high level of confidence and play. But the fact is, Patty had essentially mediocre years in both '03 and '04, (even though she finished at #14 last year, her overall results were not that impressive considering her AO dream draw). The WTA is rather weak now and Patty, who IMO has as much natural talent as Henin, could reach the Top 5 if she plays to her potential. The question is, are Patty and Hofmann ever going to deliver on their incessant boasting and do something big? Maybe this will finally be the year, as she has opened by ruthlessly beating up three reasonably qualified opponents.
