hey guys :wavey:

I know it's sunday and all, and you'd prolly rather not think too much, but I've this question for you :p

I had to read this book for Religion, from Eric-Emmanual Schmitt (http://www.eric-emmanuel-schmitt.com/eng/en_sommaire.html), and we have to write our own kind of philosophy of life about some quotes we found in there...

I chose to write on "Fear of the Unknown", following these quotes:
"We seem to forget that life is unsure, vulnerable and transient. We all act as if we are immortal."
"See, she died anyway... But the thought of dying ruined her life."

Now (finally :p) the questions:

How do you look upon life, and death following inevitably?
How does it affect your everyday life?
Or maybe it doesn't affect you at all, and you just take it one day at a time?
What helps you coping with the fact that we all have to die one day?
etc.

Thanks in advance :) :wavey:

I don't really think about death that often. I only talk about it when I'm drunk having them stupid deep conversations with friends (who would also be drunk)

Jack from titanic talks about life to the snobby people in first class  Something like:

"I love waking up in the morning not knowing whats gonna happen or who im gonna meet, you never know what hand your gonna get delt next. Last night I was sleeping under a bridge, and here I am on the grandest ship in the world having champagne with you fine people. Life is a gift" bla bla bla bla.

Life is a gift though IMO ;)

How does it affect your everyday life?

It doesn't really.s

Or maybe it doesn't affect you at all, and you just take it one day at a time?

I plan for the future, like where I'm going and the goals I want to reach, but generally take each day as it comes.

What helps you coping with the fact that we all have to die one day?

The fact I'm only young and have many things to do/achieve before that day comes. And that everyone will have to die eventually.

I also believe in some kind of life after death. That helps.

my answers: I am looking forward to death in a way, I've lost a lot of very important people in the lst 6 years (grandfather, grandmother, little sister, best friend) and I'm wondering if I will ever see them again. I dream a lot about them, but I'm curious about life after death (if there is any)
It doesn't really affect my everyday life, I don't think about it 24/7, but maybe I'm a little to risky in life, exaple, sometimes I cross the road to riskfull, but don't really care,
I also have the feeling that I'm gonna die at a younger age, I'm taking everything life gives me now and feel that I'm not gonna be like 70 or 80.
but again, I don't really worry about that.
Hope it helps, more questions about my lifestyle, just ask

I think of life as perhaps a series of lessons, where you make mistakes and learn from them through trial and error. (I believe in reincarnation btw) So in every incarnation, your aim is to rid yourself of some innate flaws and go gain some virtuous quality or other. And the process repeats until all of us become "perfect" inside. :D

Yes, I take life one day at a time. I have vague goals in my life, and I believe that they will become clearer as I grow older. Not worrying too much now :)

Coping with death... I think I just try to leave life with no regrets so I'll go in peace. Like I said, I believe in reincarnation also, and that the soul doesn't disintegrate after death, even though the body does, so I don't feel that I actually die :yeah:

Well, that wasn't very eloquent. I really struggled to find words to explain, but hopefully it is comprehensible.

there is a song that explains how I feel about life and death, it's sung by ellen ten damme and is called rain roses: here are the lyrics

Don't ask me why
No matter how hard I try
There is no reason
One day I'll die

Yes I am a sinner
But I can say at least I've been there
There is no reason
To have the right to live

So many people have said they loved me
Them lovely people will they be
There
For me

Yeah!
It will rain roses

On my grave, on my grave

I cannot see
No matter how many books I read
God gives you reasons
But I don't believe

I'm not a fan
Of Buddha's yin or yang
Can't find a reason
To do it all again

So many lovers said they love me, yeah!
Them lovely people will they be
There
For me

Yeah!
It will rain roses

On my grave, on my grave

Hope I'll be the first
'Cause if I'll be the last then, no
Not for me

Yeah!
It will rain roses

Will it rain roses
On my grave, on my grave
