Dec 10th, 2004, 01:22 AM
direct entry:

krasnoroutskaya (is she playing?)
rodionova (whats the cut-off?)
bratchikova (ditto)

how will they do individually? and how will russia do as a whole?

Dec 10th, 2004, 03:23 AM
I think they do very well.
The top 4 there we may well see in the QF's though Lena D doesnt have a great record at the AO.
I hope Maria K in her 1st AO and Vera D make an impact. :)

Best of luck to Maria S, Lena D, Maria K and Vera D :hatoff: :clap2:

Dec 10th, 2004, 07:45 AM
I think ELena D , Nastya, Sveta and Maria will reach so far in the second week

Hope Vera D has a good performance :bounce:

Dec 10th, 2004, 03:20 PM
Elena is due a good AO, so I hope she does. And by good, I hope she wins it :D

I would love for her to begin the season with a Slam.

Dec 10th, 2004, 05:30 PM
Lina will be playing ;) :yeah:
unless something else goes wrong :bigcry:

Nina B and Rodionova should be in qualies (on previous cut offs)

Lena D should do pretty good, as its fairly slow, Lena just needs to get going ;) one win does her wonders ;) :D

minimum requirement
4-5 Q-Finalists, then we'll see...... (another slam title isnt asking too much is it ;) ?)

Dec 10th, 2004, 05:35 PM
i think nastya, masha and maybe bepa zvonereva will reach QFs. possibly kuznetsova too.
i am realli hoping lena d gets a good start to the season and of course i want her to win the aussie open :bounce: but a QF spot at least would make her happy i think.
udachi lena :bounce: :yeah:

Dec 10th, 2004, 07:01 PM
I want Lenda D. to win so she can be the first Russian to win the AO.

Dec 12th, 2004, 09:37 AM
Nastya or Lena D will win the title
Sveta or Vera or Nadia will take double title
The other russian girls will have good performances

Dec 12th, 2004, 10:26 AM

Dec 12th, 2004, 10:35 AM
i just hope lenaD WILL NOT EXIT in 1R again:bowdown:

in the last 2 years, LenaD lost in the first round in both appearance :armed: :help:

So plzzzz LenaD perform better here

Dec 12th, 2004, 10:37 AM
I want Lenda D. to win so she can be the first Russian to win the AO.

ya we have
the first Russian to win a GS
the first Russian to win RG
the first Russian to win Wimbledon
the first Russian to win USO
the first Russian to win YEC

which left "the first Russian to win AO" only for nobody
LenaD plz take sth :p

Lena D. never did well in the winter. no sure why, so not waiting anything special this season as well.

it's summer in Australia in January ;)

Dec 12th, 2004, 02:37 PM
i agree with Phong and say that either Elena Dementieva or Anastasia Myskina will win the title. Although u all know i am cheering for Elena. And i would give her the edge to win the title, espescially if her serve is different, even if she just doesn't double fault anymore, she will win. Maria will do well. But she will not win. Sveta will lose in the middle of the tourny and vera might survive one round further. Nadia could fall anywhere from 2nd round to semi. Lena B could go as far as semi, but not past.
I think this will be the most Russian dominated slam ever!
I can't wait!

Dec 12th, 2004, 03:08 PM
it's summer in Australia in January ;)Tell that her... maybe she'll do better :p

In general, it's waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to early to make any kind of legitimate predictions. There were no tournaments played yet, so we don't what form they are in, we don't know the schedule... The only one thing you can base your preictions on is the past and that's not a very good basis. But if you do: Nastya will do the best, followed by Maria S., Svetlana.

And no, none of them will win it.:tape:

Dec 12th, 2004, 04:33 PM
And no, none of them will win it.:tape:If a Russian wins it, then Russians hold all 4 majors.
No one thought a Russian would win the U.S. Open. And it was an all Russian final.

it just seems that tennis world had it with Russian domination...

But I promise: if a Russian girls wins it, I will never post on this board again....

Dec 12th, 2004, 05:33 PM
Would you really be shocked if Nastya, Maria, or another Russian girl, got on fire and made the final?
I almost expect something crazy to happen.
Last year's final was not a high level match.
And Serena never plays her best in Melbourne.

Dec 12th, 2004, 05:39 PM
Amelie should do really well IMO. Probably win it.

Linds should do well as well.

One of them will win it.

Dec 12th, 2004, 05:41 PM
i dont think u should be so against a russian winning the AO tenn_ace. we know they are more than capable.
i also think momo, linds, venus, serena,HH can win it.
i would not be surprised at an all russian final. just as i would not be surprised if there were not 1 russian in the SF's.
this year's slams are the most open in years.

Dec 12th, 2004, 05:43 PM
Lindsay has a chance. Amelie has a chance. But there are several Russians who can beat them.
Justine and Serena should be tough.
I think all of the top Russians improved in 2004, maybe Nadia stayed even.
I expect some of them to keep improving.

Dec 12th, 2004, 05:44 PM

I'm not. I just don't think they will. :wavey:

Dec 12th, 2004, 05:48 PM
I wasn't confident at all about the US Open.
Lindsay and Amelie had great summers.
Justine won the Olympics. Serena knew the US Open was her last chance for a threepeat.
I'm much more confident about the AO. Nobody stands out.

Dec 12th, 2004, 05:55 PM
The great thing about this years AO is that there isnt a clear favourite. nastya, masha, sveta have proved they can win a slam. lena d is almost there. vera, nadia, lena b will be challanging.
venus/serena/capriati/lindsay/momo/ all want it but havnt been playing that great.
the defending champion HH has been on a tennis death-bed for months.
anyone could win it.
in the other slams, one or two mite stick out, but still no definate favourites.
this is going to be the most interesting and exciting season yet.

Dec 12th, 2004, 05:58 PM
It won't be more exciting than 2004. This was the first time.
Now we're looking for a continuation of 2004.
But I'll still get excited.

Dec 12th, 2004, 06:02 PM
there was less anticpation about 2004. noone expected the russian invasion.
so when it came it was a surprise and was then exciting.
at this point, 2005 is the exciting season, because anyone of about 15 girls could win the slams. noone would have thought that last year.
i think momo will win one,and she deserves it.
i hope lena d will..........:yeah:

Dec 12th, 2004, 06:06 PM
Amelie will never have a better chance than she had this year.
Especially in NYC.
I wouldn't be surprised to see some new faces in the slam finals.
I'm thinking Bovina, Petrova, Zvonareva. Maybe someone unexpected like Safina.

Dec 12th, 2004, 06:09 PM
she did have a great chance...but my girl stuffed it in her face :)
she is still no 2. she has more chances in her.
i think nadia, bovina, zvonareva willl make an impact. but im sceptical about them reaching GS finals.
and if safina made a GS final i would be in shock for a week.

Dec 13th, 2004, 03:35 AM
everyone wil be in shock, but the Russian girls are a major foce in womens tennis now and should be consider contenders for every GS title.

Dec 14th, 2004, 08:35 AM
I want to see either Safina or Jidkova make a breakthrough considering they finished the year off well - especially Alina.

Dec 14th, 2004, 09:02 AM
I think Amelie is going to be the girl to watch. She pulled out of Fed Cup and is reportedly taking care of her body and working on her mental game even more. Jennifer and Amelie play the best out of all the top players on these courts (barring Kim and Hingis).

The bounce, speed and heat seem to be in their control. Realistically, out of the Russinas GAMEwise, this suits Elena. She is speedy, strong and has the powerful groundies and compact strokes to do damage.

However Elena's game and temperament/mentality need to be in sync.

I do think Nastya will perform well here. I'm not holding out for Maria or Sveta. The heat is intense, Maria puts so much into every match that the heat will be another factor that will drain energy from her. If she can overcome expending so much energy, then she has a great chance too.

My picks

1) Amelie
2) Nastya/Lindsay
3) Serena/Justine
4) Maria/ElenaD/Jen
5) Venus/Sveta

Dec 14th, 2004, 01:43 PM
Vera will win it without dropping a set

(I wish)

Dec 15th, 2004, 06:42 AM
Dee, how come if it suits Elena;s gaem she lost in the 1r this year?

Dec 15th, 2004, 08:20 AM
Elena said she lost due to a lack of practice and the fact she spent Russian Xmas in Moscow. It was was very bad scheduling on her part. But more importantly, I think the heat bugs Elena. The court she can handle, she's reached the 4th round before.

If Elena can master the heat and win a 1st round match, then she'll be fine. If she wins her first match, I'll definitely see her a potential champion. Just one match.

Elena plays so open stance, that having a a nice bounce and nice speed on the court will help her game. Her groundies looked so destructive at RG and especially the USO.

Dec 15th, 2004, 11:32 PM
yeah i agree, elena d if she wins a match she is in the tournament.

Dec 16th, 2004, 08:12 AM
All of them must do well, The AO is the ony GS they had poor results in 2004 .

Dec 16th, 2004, 05:01 PM
I think the 2005 AO will show how far so many of our RR women have improved.
Alina, Sveta, Maria, Anastasia - they all moved forward this year.
Elena D., B., L., and Nadia - they all have very little to defend.

I expect very big results in Melbourne.:lick:

Dec 17th, 2004, 08:28 AM
Phew, Masha K JUST inside the 108 :D

CMON the Marias, and Lena D!
