View Full Version : Who will be the "Golovin" in 2005

Dec 7th, 2004, 01:12 AM
Golovin rose from #345 at the start of 2004 to #27 by year-end.

Which of the above young players (currently outside the top 100) has the best chance to finish 2005 within the top 30 or better?

Dec 7th, 2004, 01:14 AM
Eden Marama of New Zealand-I wish!

Dec 7th, 2004, 02:59 AM
Karatantcheva might be the biggest jumper, but I'm hoping big big things for Mirza.

Dec 7th, 2004, 03:01 AM
Makiri maybe..Sesil hasnt done much on the tour but good on ITF circut..Shahar wont do it because she will soon be in the army..unless she wins AO theres isnt gonna be a great jump

Dec 7th, 2004, 03:01 AM
Why isn't Eden Marama on that list? hehe

Dec 7th, 2004, 03:07 AM
Sesil will rock! :rocker2:

Dec 7th, 2004, 03:17 AM
Misa! Without a doubt.. :bounce:

Dec 7th, 2004, 03:46 AM
Probably Kirilenko

Dec 7th, 2004, 03:53 AM
Im hoping Kirilenko

Dec 7th, 2004, 04:08 AM
Krajicek will make the biggest jump but Ivanovic will end the year higher, probably in the top 30.

Other than these, I hope Dubois(#224 - 18 yrs) will be the Golovin.

Dec 7th, 2004, 05:07 AM
we can't know her yet

Dec 7th, 2004, 05:26 AM
Sania MirZa :hearts:

Dec 7th, 2004, 07:46 AM
Sesil will still be hindered by age restriction laws so I think the best bet could be Ana Ivanovic who will get to play more tournaments in 2005 than Sesil will.

But I am really hoping to see Jessica Kirkland possibly steal the show next year. She is one of the few young Americans who seems to have some sort of future potential.

Dec 7th, 2004, 07:50 AM
Maria K is virtually already in there so I think she'll come back well next year :D
..I think a big mover next year will be Michaellla Krajicek

Dec 7th, 2004, 08:48 AM
Katerina Bondarenko :)

Dec 7th, 2004, 09:12 AM
Misa is gonna make a great jump in 2005!!
BTW, Flipkens age is not 17 but 18!! ;)

Dec 7th, 2004, 10:43 AM
Ana for sure...

Dec 7th, 2004, 12:29 PM

Dec 7th, 2004, 12:31 PM
I think in the "Golovin" sense, the big jumper will be Krajicek, but for who will end the year highest, probably... Ivanovic

Dec 7th, 2004, 12:38 PM
i hope Maria will going to get a great 2005!! :yeah:

Dec 7th, 2004, 04:10 PM

Dec 7th, 2004, 05:10 PM
I think that Michaella Krajicek will make the biggest jump.. I think she will be in the top 50 next year. I hope in the top 30! :D.. Ana and Sesil also have a big chance! :D

Dec 7th, 2004, 05:19 PM
I watched the zurich match of ivanovic against tati and she has an impressive tennis with great shots. Her match against venus proves that she isn't far from the best.
She can improve and why not jump to the top 30?

Dec 7th, 2004, 06:13 PM
I think 2005 may well be the year of Flipper :)

Dec 7th, 2004, 07:05 PM

Dec 7th, 2004, 07:06 PM
I'm hoping that Maria Kirilenko can shake off her arm injury and show us what she's really capable of!!! :D

Dec 7th, 2004, 09:28 PM
I can't wait for the new season to begin

All the exciting new youngsters coming up!! :D

Alot of fun to watch! :)

Dec 7th, 2004, 10:56 PM
Makiri maybe..Sesil hasnt done much on the tour but good on ITF circut..Shahar wont do it because she will soon be in the army..unless she wins AO theres isnt gonna be a great jump

She shouldn’t go to the army :( :(

Dec 7th, 2004, 11:06 PM
Little Masha :D  :D

Dec 7th, 2004, 11:21 PM
Expect greatness from THE SESILATOR. ;)

Dec 7th, 2004, 11:43 PM
Between Sesil and Ana....But i hope Stéphanie Dubois also!

Putting Gloria in there was a bit unrealistic i think..give the girl some time lol

Dec 8th, 2004, 01:12 AM
sesil, ivanovic, kirilenko, krajicek, kleybanova or douchevina even i would be happy with. at this point it looks like sesil has the better chance than the others but the others have talent so they could do it if they can find some wins.

Dec 8th, 2004, 01:21 AM
Dubois! :)

ex hopman
Dec 8th, 2004, 04:42 AM
Ayumi Morita of Japan!!

Dec 8th, 2004, 05:53 AM
Stéphanie Dubois!!

Dec 8th, 2004, 06:09 AM
Maria 2 ^^
She will be Top 50 in 2005.

Dec 8th, 2004, 06:31 AM
Kirilenko :hearts:

Dec 8th, 2004, 10:12 AM
i used to think Maria K will make 100 by this year but it turned out she can't (actually she was top 100 by 3-4 weeks).

she was ranked around 100 since last january and you guys look where she is right now. almost the same ranking :o so i don't think she will be top 30 by 2005.

i think Ana has a great chance to make it. she is ranked highest, and according to her results so far, she also has potential to be there.

btw i still expect to know a lot of newbies next year. it always exciting to see some girls doing great in their very first pro-match;)

Dec 8th, 2004, 10:45 AM
I hope Kirsten, But I would be already happy if she would get into the top 100,
My guess is Maria Kirilenko, very talented, so why not? :)

Dec 8th, 2004, 10:48 AM
kirsten flipkens is not 17.. she'll turn 19 in one month (10th january).. i wish she at least enters top 100 in 2005 :(

Dec 8th, 2004, 11:19 AM
I think if her back isn't bothering her anymore, Kirsten will absolutely make the top 100 and even higher. She has the potential. I'm hoping she will make it in 2005.

Dec 8th, 2004, 11:21 AM
Makiri hasn't done much AT ALL this year. Everyone thinks that just because she almost beat Serena, she will be the next big thing. I doubt she will do much on tour.

Dec 8th, 2004, 11:51 AM
Ivanovic or Karatancheva
both will be Top 30 next year

Dec 8th, 2004, 12:35 PM
Ivanovic or Karatancheva
both will be Top 30 next year

I doubt Sesil will do it, she has very few tournaments left to play and her game is not very power-based, so she will need more time to get used to the schedule. You know that when a player doesn't play during months it's hard to "come back" and be at 100%. If she enters the top 100 (for more than a couple of weeks) until she turnes 16, it will be doog enough. After August, she'll be able to play more and then she will eventually improve her rankings a lot.

But well, tennis is a game noone knows what will happen, she may surprise me :) . Anyways, I am one of her most fervent supporters and I wish her all the best during the next season.

Dec 8th, 2004, 01:05 PM
I think it's is pretty obvious if we look at the jump that Golovin made, Krajicek will be the next Golovin in that sense. As in, who till end the year in the top30...

Ivanovic and Vaidisova will probably both be top30/top20 at the end of next year!

Dec 8th, 2004, 04:03 PM
I'm also anxious to see how Ryoko Fuda's year goes. She showed some promise in 2004, against her older country women. Emma Laine will have a good 2005 I'm sure.

Dec 9th, 2004, 04:26 AM

Just call her THE SESILATOR. That is easier. ;)

Dec 10th, 2004, 04:44 AM
I also think Stephanie Dubois will have a good year in 2005, if she keeps up her ever improving results.

But who says these threads can predict the future...It's funny that Viktoriya Kutuzova and all her "fans" haven't mentioned her, and she isn't on this list....:tape:

Dec 10th, 2004, 04:51 AM
let it be maria k.!

Dec 10th, 2004, 10:12 AM
Katerina Bondarenko :)
:bounce: :bounce: :D :D i hope she'll rise soon!!!!

but from the list, i am sure it will be ivanovic and sesil!!!! : :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :worship: :) the others can get into the top 100 but not into the top 30.it's too early

Dec 10th, 2004, 10:27 AM
I think most of them will make their real break-through in 2006 (some will never make it :o)

as of now I think Sesil has the biggest chances :D I think she can do well in all Grand Slam tournaments :)
Ivanovic leads so far but somehow I'm not very sure in her

Nov 2nd, 2005, 11:19 PM
B.U.M.P hehe.

Nov 3rd, 2005, 12:23 AM
Haha that's very interesting to see. :)
