Dementieva wouldn't unless she sorts out her serve. I go for Myskina ;)

It's interesting that nobody says he/she has voted for Masha, but so far she has got as many votes as Nastya.

I'll say Elena if she can fix her serve up. It's such a glaring weakness, and yet she's still done very well. The optimist in me says that inevitably, the serve will improve. I'll give an honourable mention to Anastasia, and to Maria, if she can add a few more dimensions to her game.

Either Sveta or Maria for me. I think Myskina's very talented too, but I really think she's at her peak now and, after a couple more years in the top 5, she'll start to fade.

I voted for Sharapova. If she for the most of the time stays uninjured, I think she will be the most successful russian.

Potentially I consider her the best of the russians. Or if you donīt count the serve, Elena D is perhaps just as talented. Myskina and Kuznetsova arenīt far behind. But they donīt quite have the weaponry as Masha, they more have to rely on consistency. With Masha you get the feeling she always (or at least for the most of the time) dominates. This IMO is a sign of a great player. Masha will always hit about 30-40 winner in a match and if she can cut down the unforced errors, she almost inevitably will win.

But yes, Mashas game is still far from being great. Her game at the net is quite mediocre, you donīt see her use the slice and she generally makes lots of unforced errors if sheīs not able to "kill" the ball early. But considering her age, huge motivation and fighting spirit, I would be surprised if she will improve in these areas considerably.

At the moment I consider Dementieva, Myskina and Kuznetsova to be slightly more consistent and complete players than Masha, but because of age and/or lack of weapons I donīt think they will improve as much as Masha.

As for Zvonareva, Bovina and Petrova I think they for the most of the time will be ranked in the top 20:s, but iīm not sure they have what it takes to be at the very top. Safina and other young russians I donīt have an opinion on since Iīve yet to see them play.

By the way could some of you posters motivate your opinion instead of just throwing a name. I would make polls and threads generally more interesting to read.

As this is my first post here I will shortly introduce myself. Iīm a 28 year old male from Finland. Iīve followed tennis since the beginning of the -90:ies and played tennis for about 5 years myself. It,s just a hobby, have never competed.

maria's already the best, and she's the youngest of those who will be winning big titles. this translates into big things for her and bigger things than other russian girls will be winning.

We're half way through the decade already!

All the signs seem to indicate Masha is the player with most potential at the moment. She's had the greatest triumphs at the earliest age. And she is the right age to keep on improving.

Probably Sharapova....she isnīt necesarily better than the others, but sheīs age on her side and already has won big.

Of course you didn't take into account any rankings right? It's better to add an IMO to this kind of stuff.

I voted for Masha. Honestly feel like it's between her and Kuznetsova. Myskina is good, but these two will be a level above, I feel. Too many people in the know have tipped Kuznetsova for me to discount her. And Maria's Wimbledon + YEC show that she has what it takes to raise her level in the big matches.

i think its elena dementieva. i mean, they all have weaknesses, but lenaD despite her weird slam results, has made 2 finals on 2 different surfaces.

Anna Sharapova and Dasha Shurapova are Masha's little cousins.
About ten years old for now.

Masha, if she's able to avoid injuries and if she doesn't distract from tennis like AnnaK (but I don't think she will ;) )
She's young, determined, talented, can still improve much of her game, and when she'll do this she will be at N°1 for long...
