Lena starts her year at Gold Coast. She should be the #3 seed.
Good luck and stay healthy in 2005!:bounce: :D

I discuss Lena, and the issues of the day.
If Leena wants to join in, she has to keep up to date.

And I might do poetry:D  :hearts: :bounce:

Lena will be the #3 seed at Gold Coast. The field is very winnable if she shows up.

goldenlox
Dec 3rd, 2004, 06:03 PM
Yes, it's very winnable. And if Lena gets a good draw in Melbourne, I think she can go far.
And get closer to the top 10.

Andrew.
Dec 3rd, 2004, 06:22 PM
I can realisticly see Lena talking out six of the top eight seeds if she's playing her best in Australia. This could be Lena's breakthrough slam. If Suarez Jr. can get to the semis, so can she.

goldenlox
Dec 3rd, 2004, 06:24 PM
The AO depends on the draw. 2005 is Lena's first full year with Sanchez-Casal.

goldenlox
Dec 8th, 2004, 05:16 PM
Lena won at least one match at every event she played in 2004.

goldenlox
Dec 9th, 2004, 04:06 PM
Lena made the Gold Exempt list, in the same group as Vera, Suarez, Sugiyama, and Sprem.
That's some extra money. And it shows that tournament directors are aware of Lena.

Andrew.
Dec 9th, 2004, 08:18 PM
Tournament directors don't care about Lena. :(

goldenlox
Dec 10th, 2004, 04:24 PM
Being on the GE list means direct entry all year.
Lena can play any tournament she wants to enter.
And it's extra money.
Molik is not on the list, so it's a sign of respect to Lena.

goldenlox
Dec 12th, 2004, 05:55 PM

goldenlox
Dec 14th, 2004, 04:27 PM
I think 2005 is Lena's break through year.
She made $500,000 in prizemoney this year, but no clothing deal.
This coming year, Lena becomes a millionaire!:D  :bounce:

Andrew.
Dec 14th, 2004, 04:30 PM
I agree. By the start of the clay season, Lena should be top 10. I think Lena is very capable of making slam QF's this year.

goldenlox
Dec 14th, 2004, 04:56 PM
The way Lena played after Wimbledon, the top 10 just means staying healthy.
She's had bad luck with her health ever since her big US Open.
It's time for Lena to get paid. She's the next RR millionaire.

Andrew.
Dec 14th, 2004, 05:11 PM
If she makes the QF in Miami, I'll be seeing her there. :D

goldenlox
Dec 14th, 2004, 05:12 PM

I just want to see her in person again. I saw all of her matches in New Haven. :)

Let's have constructive chats here.

Realisticly, what do you expect of Lena in Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne?

goldenlox
Dec 19th, 2004, 06:39 PM
I need to see the draws. But at Gold Coast, she's capable of winning.
I want her to have a good draw in Melbourne. No top 12 opponent until the quarters.

Andrew.

Just avoid, Lindsay, and that level in the third and fourth rounds.
Unlike Wimbledon and the US Open, where she had Maria, then Lindsay, in third rounds.

Andrew.
Dec 20th, 2004, 08:36 PM
Lena could beat Maria. She should be beating Dementieva regularly, but doesn't.

Dec 20th, 2004, 08:38 PM

GL, a little reminder here:

Washington upsets Sharapova at Pilot Pen
Aug. 24, 2004
SportsLine.com wire reports

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova was upset in three sets by wild card Mashona Washington on Tuesday in the Pilot Pen tennis tournament.

Sharapova, ranked seventh in the world had 11 double-faults in the match. Three of them occurred in the two games that Washington broke the fourth-seeded Russian in the deciding set of her 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win.

"I can't be perfect all the time," Sharapova said of her serve. "I still have so many matches ahead of me where I want to improve. It's all about learning, and at 17 (years old), I have a lot to learn."

It was the biggest victory of the 28-year-old Washington's career. Ranked No. 81, the sister of former tennis player MaliVai Washington beat Meghann Shaughnessy on Monday and now advances to the quarterfinals.

"I think every player has that one big win or two big wins (in them), and I was due for mine," she said.

She said her ability to stay relaxed and an improving serve were the two biggest factors in the win.

Maria is already better than Lindsay. At 17.
Lena can use a draw without either.

Lena can use a draw without either. At 17, everyone was better than Lindsay.

If you're saying she's better than Lindsay now:

1. Davenport....
4. Sharapova.

But this isn't a forum for Maria Mania discussions.

Lena trains at the Casal-Sanchez Academy in Barcelona.
Maria is better right now, than Lindsay. What makes you say that?

Lindsay is number one, Maria isn't.
Lindsay hits harder and with more accuracy than Maria.
Lindsay's volley is more solid, as is her second serve.

All Maria has on Lindsay is first serve, footwork and the mental strength.

Lindsay is ranked ahead of Maria because Maria was 16 just a few months ago.
Maria has much better court coverage, and a much better return of serve.

Lena has a top 10 game. To win a major, she has to improve her court coverage, or improve the placement of her groundstrokes.

Lena has a top 10 game. To win a major, she has to improve her court coverage, or improve the placement of her groundstrokes. Davenport's return of serve is arguably the best in the game. Saying Maria's is better is stupid. And stop whining that she's only 16. She played more tournaments than Lindsay this year and is still lower.

Maria's last 3 sets at Wimbledon - 7 breaks in 12 games, against Lindsay and Serena.
She must have won 15 points against Lindsay with her service return, in one set.
She ended every match at Wimbledon with at least 2 straight breaks. All 7 matches.
She won the YEC with 3 straight breaks.

Lindsay killed Serena's serve in LA.

Serena was obviously injured. I don't like Serena, and it was blatantly obvious.

Maria is not nearly an elite returner. One tournament doesn't do that.

I can't even remember back to when Davenport won a major.
I think her biggest check was $500,000. Now everyone gets a million $.

Maria has a great return of serve. It's why she won Wimbledon.

Why don't you discuss these things in Lindsay's thread? Bye-bye!

Dec 23rd, 2004, 05:36 PM
Back on topic: Lena's 2005 Australian Season.

I've said all along Gold Coast is her tournament. Show up, play decent tennis, and win.

I think a Sydney QF is possible if she draws the right seeds. Henin pulled out, so top seeds are Davenport, Myskina, Dementieva and Capriati. She has a very good chance against the 5-8 seeds, and the top four seeds are all beatable if Lena is playing well.

Melbourne QF would be so nice. But if not, round of 16 is very reachable.

I'm extremely excited about the start to this 2005 season.

Andrew.

Doubles at the majors could mean big bucks. And Lena has a title to defend in Melbourne.

Andrew.
Dec 29th, 2004, 07:51 PM
Nothing lost if she doesn't defend that.

Doubles at slams and big tier I's - that's fine. It's when you start playing it week after week when it becomes a problem, especially for Lena.

2005 should be Lena's breakout year. With health and consistency, she will be welcomed into the top 10.

The key was the second serve. Elena had like 15% of points won on second serve, that helped on the 7 times my Goddess broke her.

This was just a bump against a routined player (Maria had played 6 games before this on IW this year, and it was Elena's first). Elena will do top 10 :) She's good enough.

Blah, blah...You're not even a Bovina fan. You're just a friend of that psycho in the men's forum.
Go play with her there.

Lenas lost to Bartoli and ALG. This was Lena's worst tournament since before Wimbledon.

I'm a Bovina fan, a huge one. And I have been a fan of Lena for years. Why don't you go attack the people who come in here just to get off on Lena's legs. One of the reasons Lina and I get along is because we are both fans of Lena, it is not why I like Lena. I've liked Lena long before I ever knew Lina.

Go back to your dead Kournikova forum and stop continuing to pretend you actually give a fuck about anything that goes on here chica.

No sweetie. You can just continue to post your useless remarks and completely random phrases which no one cares about. You don't know who the fuck I am or who I like. All you are is a dumbass troll who has come into every damn forum in R.R. and caused fights and made enemies. I'm so glad that you've lower us to the level of insults here.

And what exactly would you call a 3-6 1-6 loss to a player ranked dozens of spots below us? Oh, I think I'd call it fucking up. Which is exactly what I did, and exactly what it is. And I think you'd have a hard time finding anyone to dispute that.

Now, continue to blurt random bullshit.
