bakma incitir beni
Sözlerin kursun sanki
susma, anlat her seyi
benim sevdiğim gibi
o seni sever miydi
cekip gitsen bekler miydi

yok yok olmaz baskasi olmaz
gecse de yüz yil bu ask gitmez
dur gitme böyle olma
olur bur kez gel utanma,
gel utanma ....

This is one of Sertab Erener's songs, just one of about 30 songs i would like to translate ;)

ZOR KADIN

Acı bitti aşk bu defa
Yanıyor içim ha valla
Yüreğimde can buluyor
Her vuruşunda

Bana sorma hiç o günü
Eriyor tenim bedenim
Gecelerce iz sürerek
Aşk bulunmayacak

Sorma sus sorma
Aşkım yıllarca
Hoş bir kör tuzak
Heyhat

Yapma çok yıkıldım zor avundum
Affet zor kadındım gel unuttum gel
Yapma çok yıkıldım zor avundum
Affet zor kadındım gel unuttum gel

Hayato

GULE GULE SEKERIM

-"Alo, Merhaba ben Sertab"
(-Hello, this is Sertab)

Hiç sarki bilmez söyleyemezsin
(you have no song nor you sing)
Ask nedir diye bir sorsam
(if ı ask you what love is)
Sadece üç harftir dersin
('made of three letters' you'll say)
Ilk degilsin son degilsin
(you're not the first, or the last)
Sen zaten ona hiç yetmezsin
(besides you're no good for him)
Benden birazcik uzunsun
(you're a bit taller than me)
Bir o kadar da huysuzsun
(and also grumpy)
Anlamadim ne diyorsun?
(Excuse me, what you say?)

CHORUS:
Çok hos kadinsin ama yetmez
(you're such a pretty woman but not enough)
Ben karar verdim
(I made up my mind)
Ömür boyu o benim
(for a life time, he's mine)
Güle güle sekerim
(Bye bye sweety)

Ben zor bir kadin degilim
(I'm not a hard woman)
Sarkiyi sevdim diye söyledim
(ı sing it because ı liked it)
Kadinligin yedi kuralini bilirim
(know the seven rules of femaleness)
Canimdan çok onu severim
(love him more than my life)

Gülümseyisime bayilir
(He loves the way ı smile)
Bir de sarki söylersem
(If ı sing on top of it)
Benimle kim yarisir
(who can survive infront of me)
Kaybettin bosver
(You've loost, let it go)
Yüregin buna da alisir
(Your heart will get used it too)

CHORUS

Sen atesle oynuyorsun
(You're playing with fire)
Yanacaksin bilmiyorsun
(You'll burn, yet don't know)
Vazgeç artik bu sevdadan
(Give up now)
Sarki bitti gidiyorsun
(The song is over, you're leaving now)

-"Alo, aah kapatti"
(-Hello? Aaah she hung up..)

;) ;) ;)

The Belgian group you are referring to is 'Voice Male', an a capella Belgian group! Was indeed a nice song and a hit in Belgium too :)

Evren, can you please translate:

Hani Kimi Zaman?

IF I AM NOT WRONGY TRANSLATING, IT IS " IN FACT, SOME OF TIME"

geewhiz
Nov 19th, 2004, 04:12 PM
I think the nearest English phrase to 'hani kimi zaman?' is 'since when?' That is the one that is most often used in English translations of the song. I would say the direct translation is something along the lines of 'what is the identity of the time?', but I suspect Evren speaks better Turkish than me.

"since When" Is Not Completely True , Geewhiz

Hayato

I think "Since When" would be more of a song title than "In fact, some of time" no?

My fav. Sertab song is ''İncelikler Yüzünden''

geewhiz
Nov 20th, 2004, 04:16 AM
Evren, 'since when' is not a correct translation of 'hani kimi zaman', but it's what the song is called in English translations because the direct translation of the words is not very meaningful in English. 'Since when' conveys the general meaning in a phrase that is more commonly used by English speakers.

Yeah. "Like Sometimes" doesn't really make sense for a song title in English.
