Official Team Nominations for Fed Cup Semifinals and FinalThe official team nominations for the 2004 Fed Cup Semifinals and Final, to be played at the Krylatskoe Ice Stadium, Moscow, from 24-28 November, are now in.

This year, defending champion France meets Spain in the first semifinal with Russia facing Austria in the second. Both semifinals are best-of-five rubbers and will be played on 24-25 November.

The semifinal schedule is as follows:

Wednesday 24 November
11:00 (GMT 08:00): France v Spain - 2 singles
n/b 17:00 (GMR 14:00): Russia v Austria - 2 singles

Thursday 25 November
10:00 (GMT 07:00): France v Spain - 2 singles, 1 doubles
n/b 17:00 (GMT 14:00): Russia v Austria - 2 singles, 1 doubles

The winning semifinal nations will meet in the Final to be played on 27-28 November.

Under Fed Cup regulations a nation may change up to two nominations until one hour before the draw, which will be held on Tuesday 23 November. Nations that qualify for the Final must nominate their team on Friday 26 November. The players nominated may be different from those nominated for the semifinal.

they have a stand by player in case but they cant use that player if another gets injured once the match starts.

it wont be Lena D cos he's had some disagreement with her since last yr :fiery:
probably Lena B.

she should have been there instead of Vera.

France and Russia are big faves
I think Dementieva should be in the Russian instead of Zvonareva specially after Vera's performance last year :rolleyes:

« Salut. Avant tout, je voulais vous dire que cette décision a été extrêmement difficile à prendre, notamment au niveau affectif. Voilà, je ne participerai pas à la phase finale de la Fed Cup. Renoncer à une sélection, ce n’est jamais facile mais par rapport à mes objectifs de remporter un tournoi du Grand Chelem, il fallait que je passe par là. Dans cette saison et la précédente j’ai eu beaucoup de charge de travail et si je veux aborder 2005 dans les meilleures conditions, je devais faire cette impasse.

A un moment donné dans une carrière, s’il on veut encore aller plus haut comme l’on fait toutes les plus grandes joueuses, il y a des choix difficiles à prendre. Je crois que pour moi, le moment est venu même si j’ai longtemps réfléchi avant de me décider. Bien sûr Guy Forget et toute l’équipe étaient au courant depuis plusieurs semaines et je lui ai téléphoné après le Masters pour l’informer de ma décision définitive.

Pour moi, cela signifie que je vais couper une quinzaine de jours avant de débuter une préparation hivernale qui durera environ 5 semaines. Je travaillerai beaucoup le physique mais aussi la technique comme le service. Il a évolué c’est sûr mais il reste perfectible dans la constance. Le coup droit aussi doit être amélioré.

Pour revenir aux Masters et ce match contre Serena, c’est évidemment une énorme déception et ça l’est encore aujourd’hui mais je préfère me retourner sur une saison exceptionnelle où j’ai connu la place de numéro un mondiale. Et c’est quelque chose de fantastique. Un de mes objectifs est de la retrouver au plus vite. Je n’oublie pas non plus la médaille d’argent aux Jeux d’Athènes. Je vais donc maintenant récupérer car j’en ai besoin. Sur le plan physique et mental, la saison a été très éprouvante. A bientôt.»

I can't understand France but Mauresmo has withdrawn. (From yahoo!)

Wonder if Bartoli now will be in team.... or Loit more likely.

Russia should win this in a cakewalk, especially if Mauresmo doesn't play. It's easy to see them going through without the loss of a set.

she will play only doubles i think ,they have already Mary and Nathalie.
