My vote was biased towards Sharapova as I slightly prefer her over Serena. Either of them can win, I don't even know who is in better form right now, so it's hard to predict.
I think it will be one hell of a match. Not only the Wimbledon final rematch, it's also a battle of my two favorites who were in the tournament (although I kinda wanted Mauresmo to take the title because I think she deserved #1 this year).
Let's see how it works, then. Good luck to both girls! You deserve it!

Wow, what a long way we have come since Wimbledon. There Serena was the #1 seed and Sharapova the #13 seed. Here, Maria is the #6 seed and Serena the #8!

tennis will win. the WTA banked on a Maria-Serena final -- and they got it. the ratings should be marvelous and interest in tennis will get a nice boost as Serena plays her semi-clone.
mashenka best 1

Just hope that Serena can perform better this time around. Maria´s the favourite as she has been having a better season, but just want Serena to fight and at least make it close.

I get the feeling that Serena is going to win because I still believe that she is one of the best on the tour right now.
But if Masha can win it, then I would have to really say: Wow!

Wimbledon was four months ago and there have been changes in the rankings. Maria is the favorite and is expected to win based on her performance at Wimbledon, but to be truthful, she'd be lucky to win tongiht. Her only tournament wins outside of Wimbledon have been at Tier III and Tier IV events. In events higher than Tier III , she has performed subpar and in the only final she was in that was not a Tier III or Tier IV, she lost in three sets to Alicia Molik, who was the hottest player on the tour not to qualify for the YEC. This match is in Serena's hands, who is appearing in her third straight YEC final. If she comes out like she did at Wimbledon, she'll lose in three sets, but if she comes out like she did yesterday determined to win, she will either smoke Maria in straight sets, or struggle to beat in her in three, but I expect Serena to win tonight.

Good luck Serena...you already made me proud. Regardless of the result tonight.

Good Luck Maria!

I am very proud of Serena , who has gotten better with each match. This was the best I've seen her in months. I saw flashes of the 2002 Serena. Why? Serena is one of the few players who freely takes the ball in mid-air with confidence and poise. Seeing her do that was a flashpoint back to the "Black Catsuit" Serena a la 2002 US Open.
