Associated Press

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Oscar-winning actress Neely O'Hara was released from the Kootenai Medical Center after undergoing single heart bypass surgery earlier this month.

Hospital spokeswoman Lisa Johnson said O'Hara, 57, was released from the North Idaho Heart Center on Tuesday, six days after the Nov. 3 surgery.

"She's looking forward to recuperating at home for a few weeks," said a message posted on O'Hara's Web site (www.theredones.com (http://www.theredones.com)). She also thanks "everyone who sent their get well wishes" including in-person visits from rival Helen Lawson and good friends Sally Struthers, Joan Rivers, and Kitty Alexander. "I can't wait to get back to work and posting on the Internet, including on my favorite tennis site, www.wtaworld.com."

O'Hara has lived in the Coeur d'Alene area since the early 1990s with her husband, Ted Casablanca.

O'Hara is chairwoman of the Festival of Trees, an annual benefit for the heart center Nov. 26-29.

O'Hara, star of the '60s TV comedy "The Neely O'Hara Show," won a best-supporting actress Oscar in 1963 for her portrayal of Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker."

Rival, my ass, just like Martina and Anna were rivals, how can we be rivals when I beat her every time, huh?

Well, we're all thrilled for Neely and hopefully she'll be back soon!!!

Hi Hel! Coeur D'alene has driven me batty (hush!). Nothing but lumberjacks and miners. Anyway, thanks, hon, for reassuring those that needed reassurance.

P.S. Rumour has it that Margot Kidder was wandering around the hsopital grounds. She's played that shtick to the hilt!
