These are some of my favorite songs:

"Don't look back in anger" - Oasis
"Somewhere only we know" - Keane
"The Reason" - Hoobastank
"One Headlight" - Wallflowers
"Don't Panic" - Coldplay

Could you classify it a style of music? It's somewhat melancholy, and certainly the lyrics are, but they're not sad songs. It's kinda like rock/alternative but not really. Ballads?

I would say soft-rock, but that sounds so ... soft :retard:

Don't try to put true music in boxes, it can't be done! :wavey:
Only marketing products fit in those.

Yeah you're right, but I do know the names of two kinds of music I like: classical and electronica (techno etc..) and the third one is THAT. :) So I thought I might be able to put a label on it.

So for now, I'll just say, "songs with words I like". :)

I like three of those songs. I haven't heard the other two but think I might like them.

Yup, I will call it soft rock too.

You can call it "Brit-rock" or "Brit-pop" cos most the bands that write this style of music are Britain or Ireland.

Softrock sounds about right :)

All the songs fit into the "Indie" category, although Hoobastank are usually a rock band and "The Reason" was just their to give them exposure to a wider audience.

I suppose they're Power Ballads! :)

I would say Alternative Pop/Rock cuz none of those bands are really true rock bands. Good choices though. :) I love the Oasis song.

Indie, Dirty Sanchez? :tape: Indie bands are like, Sonic Youth, or The Flaming Lips.
