Did anyone see it? I heard that T/M had a hand down on the SBS 2axel and one other small mistake and I/Z were flawless, yet T/M won in a 5/4 split with the 5 European judges to the 4 other (USA, Canada, Japan, and China, I believe).

Go I/Z in the freeskate!!!!!!

1. Shen/Zhao

T-Triple Loop , SBS Toes (clean), SBS Spins UNISON! (He traveled on change of position), Split Delay Double Twist a beauty as always, Pairs Spin (could be smoother)

2. Totmianama/Marinin

T-Triple Loop (stuttered on landing), Cleans SBS Toes, Pretty mcuh clean... Lacking speed and power that Chinese have.

3. Ina/Zimmerman

SBS Toes he might have two footed it, but maybe not. He landed forward. He traveled a little on the spin, nice in unison though. Forwad on the Throw Triple Loop.

4. Petrova/Tikhonov

SBS Spins, unison is off.. She travels a long way (almost thought she would run into him) / Throw Salchow had a shaky landing. She looks uncomfy.

5. Pang/Tong

Clean. He was a little shaky going into the SBS spin, but got it back in the end.

6. Zagorska/Siudek

Fall on the SBS Toes. Unison off in SBS spin. Her sit position isn't the best. Throw Sal, she had major lean over. Surprised she stayed on her feet

It looks like Pang and Tong had a case to be put over Maria and Alexei...I like Pang and Tong's speed and choreography, but Petrova/Tikhonov have a more balletic style that appeals to these judges..

I wonder what will happen with Shen/Xhao and the Quad loop or sal? I forget. If they fall attempting it openings the door for who I think is the real challenger Ina/Zimmerman because they have then one less throw jump.
Ina/Zimmerman have a spectacular Long program and I don't know how the judges will see it any less. Poor drawing and new program could have hurt them in the Olympics long program but they are Last to skate! They should receive much higher marks than they did if they skate like in the Olympics.
It should be a battle between Chinese and American for Gold and 2 Russians for Bronze unless both faulter somehow.

So, who won? Or is this just the short program?

It's funny coz this is Pang/Tong's THIRD different short program this season ...... they started off with Seven Years In Tibet at Skate Canada ..... then at the Olympics they sakted to The Godftaher theme and now they're skating to Illumination by Secret Garden at Worlds. Pretty amazing to train three different programs this is by far the best one and very very graceful.

Poor freeskate for everyone... esp surprised at Kyoko- she is normally rock solid. I/Z could have performed better but they did well enough to earn their first World medal!

M. Petrova / A. Tikhonov (RUS), 4th place

they had one synchronization problem in the beginning; they did not have so called 'highlights' in their presentation, but it was a clean one.
marks for the technical merit between 5.3 and 5.6
marks for predentation between 5.3 and 5.7

K.Ina / J. Zimmerman (USA), bronze medal

J. did a mistake at the beginning (the T3 jump was not clean); K.Ina fell at the end of the presentation. they had many elements which they did not skate clean
marks for the technical merit: between 5.4 and 5.5
marks for presentation between 5.6 and 5.8
it has been a 5 to 4 judging decision

T.Totmianina / M. Marinin (RUS), silver medal

Maxim fell (T3, which is one of the easiest jumps for him), then happened that unlucky thing with Maxim's costume...what a pitty!
they had the best free prog., but the Chinese put more feelings in their presentation.
their music: taken from 'the westside story'
marks for the TM: between 5.5 and 5.7
marks for P: between 5.6 and 5.8

X.Shen / H. Zhao (CHN), world champions

these have been their 7th world championships. and the best ones for the chinese, of course. they have been the best pair here in nagano (from the technical point of view). but they also had mistakes in the today's free prog. she fell (T3), he had problems with the double Axel.
marks for the TM: between 5.6 and 5.8
marks for P: between 5.7 and 5.8

I just saw the programs tonight and here's how I judged them

1. Shen/Zhao 5.7/5.9=11.6 Had a few mistakes, but their explosive height and power makes up for it. A lot of speed throughout.

2. Totmianinma/Marinin 5.7/5.7=11.4 They had a mistake on the Toes, and that mishap with the costumes. It took away from the program. I didn't see much West Side Story in it, it lacked the spark that they would have needed to overtake the Chinese.

3. Ina/Zimmerman 5.5/5.8=11.3 Unfortunate mishaps on the jumps. This program had a lot of potential. It just didn't come together tonight.

4. Petrova/Tikhonov 5.5/5.5=11.0 They lacked speed. It improved a bit from SLC, but it was just very slow. They never took off. They don't have the explosiveness that I/Z had. They might have been cleaner, but the lack of speed took a toll. They wern't skating as a couple as much as they could have.

I didn't get to see Pang and Tong nor Zigorska and Siudek. I read that Pang and Tong had a good state though.
