Lena hit ONE ACE in the match
and it came at 30-15 serving for match at 6-5
and it was a 2nd serve as well :rolls: :D

then to finish it off, she hit another blockbuster serve. Ai was too shocked at previous serve i guess and couldnt handle this one too

Lena :D :) well done ;) :D

Her serve really seems to be improving, no?

I only saw the end of the match and then she hit that ace on second serve:)

Again another tourney where elena D goes far....i still think she is overwhelminly the favorite for player of the year....the only person that can touch her would be davenport. Amalie maybe. Dementieva has gotten to soooooo many finals and semis....she just loses one match early. Think if she could have won half of the finals she was in she could be top 2...i know this is if....but overall she has had a stellar year. How many top 10 players has she beeten this year???Does n e one know??

Yes! Elena!! was expecting a easier scoreline though! nevertheless Congrats!

I saw it and whilst it was a battle, Elena should have wrapped this up quickly. Ai was pretty dejeacted going into the second, but Elena lost focus and started making UEs. This led to Ai raising her level of play, Elena responded but played a poor game down 6-5.

Third set was titanic, more to do with determination and nerve. The last game was awesome from Elena, in fact the whole set. With fatigue and UEs, Elena still made the big shots when they counted. Huge credit to Ai for pushing her all the way.

Now rest up Elena. Maria next, a big challenge and one I hope you are ready to take on.

Go Elena!! :D

Congrats Lena :woohoo:, i feared that you would lose today (especially in the 2nd set) but you didn't and showed some great tennis at times...... :D

Oh talk about choking from Ai, fight that hard and let it slip. This was Ai's match to win or lose and she decided to lose it. This would have been a HUGE boost. Uggghhh....

A good match for both girls. Elena fought hard and really deserved to come out of this match as the winner. Ai didn't lost badly and shouldn't feel too let down, since she did have chances to win, compared to none at all in her previous matches. But this could be worrying since it's been a long while since Ai's beaten a top-10 player. Her points at Linz could do her ranking a lot of damage if she doesn't quickly find some way to do it.

I hope this didn't sap too much of Elena's energy. She needs bring a lot more when facing Maria in the semis.

Keep It Up, Lena!!

Good luck with your SF match today!!
