View Full Version : Favorite James Bond Theme Songs

Mar 15th, 2002, 10:25 PM
(3/15/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- Madonna wanted to make a cameo in the newest Bond movie, Die Another Day. However, a scheduling conflict with the U.K. play Up For Grabs has kiboshed the star's chances to be a Bond girl, LAUNCH has learned from her camp. Although the "Material Mom" will sing the upcoming Bond flick's opening theme, her commitment to the stage play conflicts with the film's shooting schedule. Die Another Day will blast into theaters November 22.

In singing the opening number of Die Another Day--which in the Bond films traditionally follows a "teaser" action scene--Madonna will join the ranks of esteemed recording artists who have sung Bond themes, such as Sheryl Crow ("Tomorrow Never Dies"), Garbage ("The World Is Not Enough"), Tina Turner ("GoldenEye"), Paul McCartney ("Live And Let Die"), Duran Duran, ("A View To A Kill"), Shirley Bassey, ("Diamonds Are Forever"), Tom Jones ("Thunderball"), and Carly Simon ("Nobody Does It Better" From The Spy Who Loved Me), among others.

Diamonds are Forever!

...I think it's a bad idea for Madonna to sing the Bond theme (as it was for Shirley Manson0, as she doesn't have the vocal range to do it well enough. :o

Sophie Marceau was the best actress to be in a Bond movie in a long, long time (even though "The World is not Enough" was less than satisfying)...Denise Richards on the other hand...

If we're talking about Bond girls, then yes, I agree completly.
BUT Judi Dench is by far the best actress in a Bond movie. Not that she gets much screentime, but still... :)
Can't wait to see how Hale does the part. Well, ok, can't wait to see her, but anyway...
