I'm sorry to tell you that youlia is not playing the A0. Only one girl, Virginie Pichet was playing the Qualies (already out in the 1rst round), and she won't have a wild card, the aussies give one to Capucine Rousseau ranked around 130.

If you like up coming french rookies, you should follow Aravane Rezai who started to have good results on challenger tournements at the end of last year , Virginie Ayassimy (both are 17 i think) , Marina Cossou (16) and I hope that Irena Pavlovic :) :) will be one of the best up coming rookies (she's been winning a big junior national tournement this year and i like the way sh's playing (double handed both sides shot and great fan of Monica Seles :hearts: :hearts: :worship: :worship: )

I'm surprise not to see Youlia Fedossova in any challengers tournements since the beginning of the year.

She started last year in Tokyo with really impressive victories over top players; then she playes in Tasckent with no sucess....and since then no news.....does anyone know what she's doing...training somewhere or being injured...thank you for response

There are many HQ pix of Youlia on pages 1 and 2 of the following album:
http://sports.webshots.com/album/553500645xvapPV

Here is a sample of what she looked like that day:
http://img140.imagevenue.com/loc551/th_22501_IMG_2645_Youlia_Fedossova_122_551lo.JPG (http://img140.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=22501_IMG_2645_Youlia_Fedossova_122_ 551lo.JPG)

You have to open the thumbnail and then look for the 'full size' word on the right side of the page if you want to download the HQ picture.

There are several other albums of other WTA ladies that played on opening day, and they are located on the lower right side.

The third round will be hard to reach. Youlia has been given a very tough draw.

Dinara Safina RUS (9) vs. Ekaterina Bychkova RUS
Youlia Fedossova FRA (WC) vs. Catalina Castano COL
QUALIFIER vs. Lourdes Dominguez Lino ESP
Elena Bovina RUS vs. Na Li CHN (19)

Castano seems to be in a great form, but she is obviously not unbeatable. Bardina managed to defeat her, so why not Youlia ? I hope she will.
A match against Safina would be great and very interesting. It may even be shown on TV, I would love seeing her playing !

Go Youlia and make a great use of this WC !

Youlia lost today against Safina 63 62. I thought she would do better than that, but Safina was too consistent for her.
She made 27 unforced errors for 19 winners.
O break points.

I don't know what will be her next tournament. For the moment, she is not on the ITF lists. She could have a new WC in Paris, let's hope so !

Some words of Youlia after her loss against Safina :

"Players of Dinara's level don't belong to the same category ! Obviously, there is a gap between facing a top 50 player and a top player. They are not that superior in terms of tennis but they handle better the key points. It doesn't mean that I could have won, but actually, it was tougher than the scoreline indicates, many times we are at deuce. I even made more winners than her and although I lost, I know that this kind of match will help me for the rest of the year.":yeah:

Youlia lost 4-6 3-6   She led 4-2

Iceland
Feb 3rd, 2007, 05:48 PM
Yes it's very frustrating to see that she lost. I went there to support her, so I can tell you what happened.

First, I was really impressed with the way Bychkova played, very smartly. She let Youlia dictate the points and she capitalised on her numerous mistakes or tactical errors. Youlia looked a little bit lost on the court, she didn't know what to do to finish the point as Bychkova was very consistent.
Youlia fought against herself and saved many break points to lead 4-2. She served and managed to save 3 new break points in a row but hit two bad errors after that.

She had her chance in that set with could have been for her. She went to the net few times and dropshotted as well.
But everything went wrong in the second set, she didn't manage to use the right weapon ay the right moment. She didn't know when to take the ball, she should get much more closer to the baseline. Nevertheless, she hit amazing winners with her forehand.
Her first serve is as good as her second serve is bad.

Overall, Youlia played extremely well when she had break points to save but failed to convert her occasions. For example, she saved three match points in a row but hit stupid errors after that. :( She has a good potential, but she needs to work on the tactical side and also to be more consistent.

I enjoyed her game, I'm not disappointed as she has the weapons to do better than that. She is so lost when she has to finish the points, she should go more to the net, all the more so as she is not bad at all (smash above all).

I hope she will be in Antwerp ! :bounce:

This was a match that she couldn't lose.
She will be playing at Orange next week (25 000$) and then Miami. I don't expect a good tourney as she cannot get easy wins over weak opponents.

A very strong first set, dominating on her serve with 5 aces.
Horrible second set, many DF and no serve games won.
Correct third set with an early break from Lepchenko. Youlia served well but couldn't get a BP. She choked on the last game on her serve, broken at love.

As I can't stand people who are cheering for Iveta, I will support her from her own thread.

Youlia lost the first 4-6, having led 3-2* and secured a BP that could have given her *5-4. She was at 40-15 at 4-5 but gave her serve thanks to a DF.

First set stats :
Aces : 4
DF : 4
1st serve points won : 58%
2nd serve points won : 33%

She should have won this set, now I don't see her winning especially because she is not mentally tough at all.

Ok Youlia played the most pathetic match as a top 150 player. She lost 62 62 to a poor girl that Gracia destroyed last year 60 61.

I don't even imagine how Youlia feels now. She shoud take a very long break and put herself into question. She needs a game plan and a coach, her father puts too much pressure on her.

She is now in a big slump with 0 confidence. Fortunately, she won a match in doubles with Alizé in Cagnes otherwise, it's terrible. I don't understand what happened, she played well in the AO and then nothing.

She was so close to the top 100, too bad. Poor Youlia, I hope that she will change something or get some lessons from the FFT.

Youlia is playing Roma (100,000$). She faces Serra Zanetti for her first match. I hope this won't be her last here. Get a win please :fiery:

OMG she won :woohoo:
62 62 !!! :D I am so happy for her, that's what she needed. Hopefully, we can keep this form during the whole tournament. The top 100 is still possible, go Youlia

Next : Abramovic or Lyubtsova(Q).

Very beatable plea Youlia keep it up once :D

Youlia won 16 76(4) 63 against Lyubtsova(Q). She still doesn't have her last year's form but at least, she managed to control herself and get the win. She faces Marrero now. Allez !

Ballbasher

Marrero is so dangerous for Youlia right now :scared:

Iceland
May 11th, 2007, 02:40 PM
Youlia fought well to break Marrero at 3-3 saving many GPs and she finally won the 2nd set 6-3 on her first set point.
Win the third !

Iceland
May 11th, 2007, 03:26 PM
I was so optimistic ... but she lost again 62 36 63.

She was led 2-0 in the third. She came back and had 3 balls of 3-2. But she hit 5 DFs in that game. She probably felt angry and gave her the match after that.

She had really problems with her serve. She should do something and fix her second ball.

She is supposed to play Fes now (MD).

Iceland

Youlia has been given a correct draw in Fès.
(1) Sania Mirza (IND) - Qualifier
Youlia Fedossova (FRA) - Jarmila Gajdosova (SVK)
Sandra Kloesel (GER) - (WC) Nadia Lalami (MAR)
(WC) Fatima El Allami Zhara (MAR) - (8) Anne Kremer (LUX)

She can theoretically reach the QF, still I don't think she will :tape: I don't know which Youlia will show up there. Hopefully, she can have a lot of support by the French team ; that could help her at controling her nerves.
Concerning her loss against Marrero, it was not that bad as she is in final now. At least, she took her a set.

Good luck Youlia, win some matches (and the title) !

Fedossova d. Jidkova(LL) 6-3 5-7 6-3 :D:D Now she'll most likely play top seed Sania Mirza I expect a different match here because Youlia plays like most players her best tennis against higher ranked players :D

Ballbasher

Just ead that she'll play Qualifier Maria Emilia Salerni who beat Mirza easily much tougher for Youlia I think

Well done Youlia :hearts: and good luck

Iceland
May 15th, 2007, 08:50 PM
Bravo Youlia :yeah: Jidkova defeated her in Memphis, nice way to take your revenge.
Salerni will be very hard to beat as she is a clay court specialist. But nothing is impossible, Youlia can make it. These matches won will give her some confidence.
ALLEZ :bounce:

She will play her 2nd match Thursday.
BTW, Youlia will have to play the qualies in Wimby as she is the 9th ALT. In RG, she can make it without WC if 4 more players withdraw. There are many injuries at the moment, so this couldn't be impossible. At least, one French player would be happy to receive Youlia's WC ^^

Youlia is back to ITF 25.000 $ tournaments. She is still not in a great form but at least, she is winning.
She defeated Paola Cigui (unranked) 62 64 :o . She faces Stefania Chieppa now.
Good luck Youlia and please win the title !

Iceland
Jun 7th, 2007, 07:35 PM
She won 63 36 63 against Chieppa. She is still winning, so I hope it will make the transition to her best level. She is improving I think. She faces Ozga now. Should be ok, but with Youlia we never know .

Ozga will be tough judging by Youlia's results I hope she gets through again

Iceland

64 63 for Youlia against Ozga :yeah:.
Still not impressive but she is clearly on the right way. Her scorelines are improving :). She is against Roesch now.
She is the best player remaining in the draw, I hope she can get her first title. It would be a boost for her confidence and ranks.
Allez Youlia !

Youlia plays the qualies at Eastbourne. At least, she prepares her Wimbledon, I hope she won't go far because otherwise she would miss the Grand Slam. It would be quite embarrassing ...
She is against Naomi Cavaday who will have the crowd with her. I expect a loss.
Good luck still !

awful draw for Marion! Quality WC and then Likhotseva in the second round :( maybe she will find the form and mental toughness to win against these players.

Well two good matches from Youlia ! I didn't expect a win over Cadavay, I am quite impressed ! Elena is too strong for her on grass, but Youlia showed some improvement.
Good luck for Wimbledon and try to qualify. I think she can do it !

Iceland
Jun 18th, 2007, 07:02 PM
(10)Youlia Anne Fedossova (FRA) vs Iroda Tulyagonova (UZB)
Hana Sromova (CZE) vs Kelly Liggan (IRL)
Alina Jidkova (RUS) vs Bettina Jozami (ARG)
(19)Laura Pous-Tio (ESP) vs Monique Adamczak (AUS)

Youlia got a clement draw in Wimbledon, she can win some matches there. She is not in a total loss of confidence and grass suits her game especially with her big serve, so this is the ideal moment to take a new momentum after this pretty dull season.
Allez :) .

I think that Youlia will be out of top 200 after Us Open !

Probably  whereas when she feels confidence, she deserves to be in the top 50. That's why it is so heartbreaking. It's a real shame and I have no explanations to her mental fall down. She was in a similar position last year, so she doesn't have much points to defend during the summer.
She has to react.
