I wanted to start a thread that lists the somewhat decent players who have either been double bageled or beaten someone else 6-0 6-0. So i thought it would be cool if people were to list the ones that they could think of. I know one good one: Amelie Mauresmo def. Elena Dementieva 6-0 6-0 at the Paris Indoor tournament in 2003. ;)

Serena defeated Schett really bad @ Roland Garros, either in 2002 or '03. I'm pretty sure that was a double bagel, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

And I think Venus beat Lucic 6/0 6/0 in the 1st round of a recent USO.

Steffi Graf double-bageled TWENTY opponents during her career.
Among them Zvereva (FO 88 final), Bassett-Seguso, Kohde-Kilsch and Tracy Austin .....

Chris Evert d. Martina Navratilova 6-0 6-0 at Amelia Islands in 1981:worship:

This was AFTER Martina had reached #1 folks.

Oh-and I ALMOST ;) forgot.

Chrissie crushed Tracy Austin 6-0 6-0 in 1982 at the Toyoya Championships. She only dropped 14 points. This was after Tracy had been #1.

Has anyone else ever double bageled TWO former #1's?

Ahh...the double-bagling of Austin was pure genius! Evert was always on (okay, except in 1989..when she bagled Seles in one of 2 sets, 6-0, 6-2)...truly the greatest of all time in my opinion!

And we can't forget Steffi's double bagle of poor Zvereva at the 1988 French Open Final....

Hingis' double bagle over Seles, while on the books, was a fluke because Monica was hurt. :( But she played anyway.... :(

Conchita has double-bagelled Maleeva TWICE (once in Sidney this year).

Obviously she NEVER faced many formidable and worthy opponents. During the early stages of her career she was competeting against an aging (past 30's) Navratilova and Evert.
And when she finally faced a worthy opponent in young legendary phenom Monica Seles in the middle of her career, she moved down to number two. But then the stabbing happened, enter the weak opponents again in the Steffi and the Dwarfs period.

Late in her career, with the arrival of the Williams sisters, resurging Davenport, Henin, Clijsters.......she quickly retired.

During the Seles, Graf domination period.......there was just so much lack of depth in women's tennis compared to now. If Serena or Maria Sharapova will be transported back to late 80's or mid 90's... they will surely dominate easily and will most probably rack up 30 Grand Slams each at the end of their career

Aside from having some foot injury, Monica Seles clearly was not even half the player she once after the violent stabbing in 1993 by a DERANGED Graf fan. People including Martina Hingis already knew that when she came back in 1995 she was never the same YET the tennis world still had the highest RESPECT AND ADMIRATION for her. Her greatness has never diminish.

Martina Hingis...as cocky and outspoken as she is NEVER disrespected Monica. Not even once. In fact, she revered Monica more than any other player out there.

Maleeva had two 0-6 0-6 losses and both were to Conchi.
She has many 6-0 6-1 wins, but not so many 6-0 6-0 wins.

i remeber one time (i think this is correct)....Chanda Rubin was playing Mary Pierce, and she did the ULTIMATE comeback.

She was 6-0, 5-0, 40-0 down, and came back to win the match. Just thought id let everyone know.

Really, I know she did the 5-0 40-0 down against Novotna 3rd set French Open, I never knew she did that against Pierce though. If she did then :worship: , that's truly impressive!

Never happened.

Yes it was against Novtona and just Novotna, I think Chanda had come back from 5-0 down vs. Hy-Boulais in Wimbledon (longest womens match ever) however I don't think she faced any match points.

No, this didn't happen. Chanda's only beaten Mary once in tournament play, and that was a three-setter at the Australian last year, when Chanda won 0-6 6-4 6-2. This thread's about double bagels.

I don't know about tennis, but the year I won my Oscar, Floyd knew some guys at PriceWaterhouse, so I called and they gave me the vote tally after I won. I got like 85% of the vote, which in Oscar terms, is like I double-bageled the competition, INCLUDING LIZ! I guess that roof wasn't so hot after all.......
