Well the 3 winners this week were arguably favorites to win the title from the start. Elena was top seed and Kim was coming back from injury. Na Li may not have been favorite but we knew she was better than her ranking and a class above the field. Masha won a tourney playing nobody ranked higher than #80 :tape:

Which titlist impressed you the most??? I would say Na Li - coming in from Qualies and not letting the competition of being China's first titlist get to her :p

Na Li, it might have been Dementieva if she'd beaten Clijster's to get the title.

Na Li was more impressive, as she came from qualifying, beat players much higher ranked and became the first woman from her country to win a title.
Dementieva struggled more and was expected to beat all those players anyway, as she was much higher ranked.

The only good win in all those matches is

F - # 17 (3) Elena Bovina - 0-6, 6-0, 6-4

So I go for Elena. All credit to Na Li, though. If she keeps up like this, she has a bright future in front of her!

GO Na Li, omg winning 3 rounds of qualifying and 5 matches in the main draw. She is on a 8 match winning streak. CONGRADTS! Also congradts to Elena Dementieva for winning her first title. I ws surprised that this was her first title. She is soooo good. And Maria Sharapova, this win should get her some confidence, letting her assess how good her game is. So Congradts to her too.

Easily Na Li, as we'd expect someone with Dementieva's calibre to win those type of matches it's really not THAT big but for someone like Na Li who was not even ranked at the beginning of the year it's an amazing achievement.

How often does it occur?

1) Li Na, cos she won impressively as well as being a qualifier!
2) Sharapova, poor opposition but only dropped an average of 3 games per match!
3) Dementieva, poor opposition until the final, but came back well in the final although not to impressive against the unknowns early on!

But what can I say? That Maria played great this summer? The fair criticism is correct, but I like to keep having positive thoughts. :p

Na Li for MULTIPLE reasons, with her title, she had to play 8 matches, that's like a grand slam +1 (given the quality of the tournament was nowhere NEAR a grand slam) but still 8 matches against many players ranked higher than you. Coming from the qualies to win was an incredible achievement. She even beat someone ranked in the top 50 (something Sharapova didn't have to do to win her title dropping 15 games in the whole tourney). Dementieva is the next choice (coming from 0-6 down in the first!)

Sharapova....really come on how easy was this for you?!

GREAT JOB NA LI!

And another thing, Na Li BAGELED a player in the top 50! Sharapova couldn't even bagel a player in the top 100!
