THE 2002 FWTT SURVIVOR EXHIBITION

http://www.jessicaalba.net/pics/alba984.jpg

Welcome to the first ever 2002 Survivor Exhibition!

We begin our journey to find who among our 16 players would be the first ever FWTT Survivor Champion.

Every week, two players would be voted from each tribe to partipate in the Survivor Challenge. The person who loses in that match would be out of the tournament. The winner, gets to stay for another week.

REMINDER AND CAUTIONS:

Remember, the point of the game is to be the lone player standing in the end.

I would think twice before telling somebody your points sent. How would you know that the person you just told your points would not be the player you would be up against in the end. plus, there would be a chance for some members to be swapped to the other tribe. think about.

So, get to know your tribe members. Have conversations in this thread. If you want then make your own TRIBE thread. This might be crucial in the IMMUNITY CHALLENGES later in the game.

Form alliances if you want. But be wary of how that alliance would last in the long run.

the search for the Survivor Champion begins!

Jane Wong was seen practising in the tennis court, and she is interviewed by the reporters about her appearance in survivor

Q: Now all tribes are set, how you like about your team?
A: Oh it is great, us girls got together last night and had a lot of fun partying and really get along well.

Q: Is there any strategy going into this game.
A: This is only a game and really I like to enjoy it, of course I will do all I can to be the last one standing.

Q: Who are you befriend with at the moment in your tribe?
A: It is hard to say but of course I know Hong really well coz she is asian and we talked about Fed cup all the time

Q: How you like the organisation of this charity game?
A: Oh this is fantastic, Lindsay did a fantastic job and I am sure when the game got going, this is gonna be a very hyped game show in teh WTA board ;)

Jane Wong wants to get her tribe member better so she want to ask her tribe member TUBIG the following questions (pls. answer q, according to your player personality)

1: In the FWTT, who do you dislike (cannot say no one;) )/like most and why?
2: If you can use three words to describe yourself what will that be?
3: why do you start playing tennis professionally?

That's it for now, feel free to ask questions directly to me, or the whole tribe

To be fair I will answer teh above questions as well

1: like: Ruflina: she is my best friend and she has been so supportive of me, when I am upset, she is always the first one to ask for me
, dislike: Ferrer, she never say anything, not even a hi, I mean yeah she is the best in the world, but it does not hurt to just say a hello in the lockerroom, also she benfit so much from teh tour but she never try to promote the tour, never gives interview etc. It hurt the tour a lot that the best player in the world never say anything

2 quiet, tough, happy

3 Because I like travelling and I am gifted with such talent that I can do so

"I am really excited about this whole concept. I think it will be a lot of fun. I don't know many of the girls on my tribe, so it will be great to get to know them." -Tiffani Eggert

In response to Jane's question:

1. Like: Tami Sugarn was my best friend on tour. But now she's retired. I like a lot of the girls, but maybe my doubles partner Bryanne I am closest to now.
Dislike: Jahfson. This new player has a lot of problems. She has some acting the way she does and hurting our tours image.

2. To describe myself: competitive, strong willed, and compassionate.

3. I fell in love with the game at age 8. With my competitive personality, it was the perfect fit for me to play professionally.

Sandy Vicario is seen practicing on the courts with Jane Wong

Later Sandy responded to Jane's questions: "1. I dislike probably Madonika the most. She is mentally ill, and I have seen her making fun of players. I like probably Candela Sanchez Lorenzo the most, but i like all the other players on the tour too.

2. hard-working, gracious, and bashful

3. i first picked up at racket at age 5. I joined the junior tour 2 weeks before my 13th birthday, and have loved tennis ever since. I joined the pro tour last year, after recovering from injuries I had sustained a few years before.

Daniela 'Dani' Turundzhov says a big 'hello'! to all her tribe teammates.

Here is her comment on the event

'I'm really excited to be here, it's a way for me to get to know the Pro Players. They're all really nice and I think we'll have fun'

Here is her answers to Jane's Questions:

1) I think that Madonika is a really good player but she has to learn to speak with diplomacy. She just hasn't found her comfort zone yet and I think that she will soon, but she's the player that I would probably be least likely to speak to. As for who I like the most, obviously my sister Jelena but she's retired so in terms of active players, Marteena Huubere and Selima Valentine. I've known Marteena since I was very young so there's a bond there. I played Selima last year at the French and we practised together, she's good friends with Jelena.

2) How would I describe myself in 3 words? determined, hard-working and compassionate. Yeah, that's it. I'd like to think so anyway (laughs).

3) I started playing when I was around 10-11, so that's only 3-4 years now. The game just drew me in, it's so beautiful. The game is like a love affair for me, I can't get enough of it. I guess I just started because it was my destiny and I'm loving it very much!

SURVIVOR UPDATES:

Alliances Abound?

At this stage of the FWTT Survivor Exhibition, One could speculate the alliances being formed between tribe members.

Would race and an apparent identitical appearance bind Jane and Hong and bring them to the latter rounds of the tournament?

http://www.geocities.com/neo_nike/01usopen07.jpg
is dani disadvantaged?

We get a glimpse of a certain 'talk' between Sandy and Jane. Is that just question and answer thing or are they scheming to get to the end?

Tiff, being the oldest of the survivors, could make a move anytime soon. Is she going to think together with the older tribe members?

would Dani, the youngest, find trouble relating withe older members of her tribe?

the Cold tribe?

the Tubig tribe seems to be the only one we have heard a lot from. despite having such meaning behind their name, Apoy chooses to be quiet.

Is this strategy or are they not interested with each other?

http://cbs.sportsline.com/u/tennis/wta/players/photos/201740.jpg is Ruffy getting ready for a charge?

Would Ruffy and Bryanne, the more experienced players and tribe members join forces to at least get to the merge? or would the younger members start to pick them off?

Marteena is extremely excited to be part of the survivor challenge.

Here are her answers to Jane's questions!!!

1: In the FWTT, who do you dislike (cannot say no one )/like most and why?
Well, even though i don't know her that well, I would have to say that Madonika is my least favourite member of the fwtt tour. I believe that she is detrimental to the tour and that her comments are uncalled for and can drive fans from this tour. I have many favourite players on this tour, and cannot name just one i like. There's Larisa, Selima, Sabine, Ruflina, Jelena, Bryanne, Regla, Tiffani, Jane, Eva and Anjelica. But some of my closest would have to be Larisa, Selima, Eva, Anjelica and Jelena.

2: If you can use three words to describe yourself what will that be?
Patient, Loyal and Honest

3: why do you start playing tennis professionally?
It began when i saw my first tennis match on the television. I was watching an extremely young martina hingis and she was so brilliant to watch, that i began to hit a ball against the side of our house, until i convinced my family to hire a court once a week so we could have a hit, and then it all started from there. It's the only sport i can play well, and i love it soooooo much, it is really fulfilling! :)

Katerina wants to apologize for her lateness in answering the questions, she was out late last night ;)

1: In the FWTT, who do you dislike (cannot say no one )/like most and why? i don't know any of the players very well so i can't really comment on that, but from what i've seen, i like Madonika. she maybe controversial, but she's a good player and a barrel of laughs.
2: If you can use three words to describe yourself what will that be? fun-loving, spontaneous and honest
3: why do you start playing tennis professionally? it's challenging and i love the game. when i was younger, i saw steffi graf playing against martina navratilova and i fell in love with steffi's game. besides, playing tennis allows me to travel and see the world. last year, i wasn't very dedicated to the game and didn't focus on tennis, rather i spent my time partying and having fun with Elise. but this year, i've decided to settle down and work harder on the court. i want to break into the top 20 and i have steadily work my way up the ranking. i'm very pleased with my results this year.

Thanks Sandy for asking me some questions.

Here are my answers to your questions.

1. In FWTT, who do you like and dislike?

Well generally, i like everyone on tour. It takes gutts out there to compete in and out of every week. So, i have a lot of respect for people. Dislike? Well, probably Madonika. But Dislike wouldnt be the word I use. She just gets on my nerves sometimes.

2. Describe yourself in three words. I would say Tough, Friendly and Careful.

3. Why did I turn professional? Basically, I turned pro because of financial reasons. My parents were having a hard time supporting my tennis and I thought, it's now or never. Thank goodness I have found some success within the tour.

Mazzie finally arrives to join her tribe in celebration, she is sorry she has not contributed much as yet but she has had a high fever and has been suffering!! (See latest IW result where she lost first round qualies)

But she is here now and as PINK said it it tim

TO GET THE PARTY STARTED

So she has managed to get some of the finest Bulgarian red wine for us all to enjoy!

Now for Janes Questions

Who do I dislike on the tour/ now for me it would have to be Valentine manly due to the fact I can never beat her hehe but that is on the tennis side on the personality side then Madonika, she just has a serious attitude problem.

Three words to descibe myself, quiet determined but above all else fun!

Why did I turn professional, well it has been a family tradition really that we have become pro's, my mother was before me, and my sister Mauela is in the Bulgarian team on the MTT with our other sister katerina as coach over there/ plus she helps me out when she has time. Basically everyone thought I had one it takes to make it so here I am.

Marteena is curious to learn more about the other players of the Tubig tribe, and also Lindsay Anne! She was wondering if each player could write their best results on tour and their most memorable moments:

For Marteena:

SINGLES: 2 titles
Winner = Doha 2001, Gold Coast 2002
Other memorable moments: Semi's at 2001 us open and 2002 indian wells (beating ferrer for the first time in 7 matches)

DOUBLES: 14 titles
Winner = 2001: Auckland, Doha, Key Biscayne, Hamburg, Italian Open, 's-hertogenbosch, casablanca, tokyo toyota, zurich, pattaya. 2002: tokyo pan pacific, doha, bogota, acapulco

Memorable moments = voted top doubles team with Nicole Arenot for 2001.

MIXED: 1 title
Winner at 2001 US Open...marteena's first grand slam title and one of best moments on tour. won with good friend jonas bjorkman.

I'm extremely curious to find what everyone believes are their most memorable moments on tour, and their best results! :) :)

Lindsay Anne Sarile's Memorable moments

SURVIVOR UPDATE:

FIRST PAIR TO GO TO THE SURVIVE CHALLENGE ANNOUNCED

http://www-scf.usc.edu/~szakalsk/nicole2.jpghttp://www.wtastarz.com/profiles/pix/maleeva.jpg

In maybe not so shocking announcement, Mazzie from the Tubig tribe and Aiko from Apoy has been voted to face each other for the first survivor challenge round.

According to the other members of Tubig, Mazzie has not participated much in the game and they want a closer bound between them. Four members from Tubig voted for her. Mazzie has been sick in the earlier of the game and claims though she is not surprised of the vote, she will prevail in the end.

"I just hope that everyone remembers in the tribe that in the end I wil survive", said Mazzie.

Aiko has been quiet for most part of the game. the 19 year old from Japan had 7 votes against her. She was aware that she was going to be one of the first. However, she seemed annoyed that one member of her tribe voted for her because that person thought that she didnt speak english.

I hadn't talked much in the begining (had other things on my mind), and I want to state that I can speak ENGLISH. If I make it back, I will try to contribute more.", said Aiko.

Katerina Shawfink says, "I'm really embarassed to name my best results because mine aren't as great as the rest of my tribe members. But this is my best year so far because I have some good results, reaching a few semifinals and quarterfinals of some challengers. I haven't had the impressive results as some of the higher ranked players in my tribe because last year, I was out with tendinitus in my wrists for six months and my ranking plummeted to No. 66. I'm just really happy to be injury free and playing tennis again and get my ranking up because I'm tired of playing in the challengers."

she also wants to get to know her tribe members better so she asks:

1. why did you decide to participate in this survivor challenge?
2. how much have you interacted with everyone in the tribe?
3. what do you plan on doing after you're finished with your tennis career?

here are her answers:
1. the reason why i'm here is because i always wanted to get to know the rest of the fwtt players better. on the tour, you don't get many chances to know other players because you're either practicing or too busy to talk to one another and here, it's like an intimate atmosphere, not so chaotic and hectic. i'm just honored to be here amongst some great players. i also think this experience will help my tennis because i can pick up some tips on how to play better.
2. well, i haven't had many chances to get to know my tribe members but if they have any questions or whatever, i'd be happy to answer them.
3. after i'm done with tennis, i plan on going to college and get my teacher's certificate. i always wanted to be an elementary teacher because i just love working with kids.

Tiffani Eggert responds to Katerina's questions

1. why did you decide to participate in this survivor challenge?
I decided to play Survivor exhibition because I love competition. I am very competitive and this is a different aspect than the usual game of tennis. It's is more mental and less physical. A new challenge.

2. how much have you interacted with everyone in the tribe?
I can't say that I have had much contact. I know some of the older players from the beginning days of the tour. I have spoken to some of them. That is about it.

3. what do you plan on doing after you're finished with your tennis career?
After tennis, I would like to have a family. And maybe work in television or as a tennis commentator in Belgium.

2. I have been talking to a few girls after this game and I hope that kat can also make some contact as well, it will be welcome

3. After my tennis, I would love to have my own business, maybe a small restaurant in some rural area, have kids etc. Of course I want to be in tennis one way or another, maybe I can be a coach of a junior program or something

Marteena's answers to Kat's questions....

1. why did you decide to participate in this survivor challenge?
Because i liked the idea of this format as it combines a lot of elements of life and tennis together.....you have to interact with others and get to know people and then there's also the tennis matches that must be played...and the fact it was new and challenging and i wanted to support lindsay anne in this venture! :)

2. how much have you interacted with everyone in the tribe?
To be honest, not as much as i have liked...besides my messages and interaction on this board, i have spoken to tiffani a little bit, but that's about it....i would really love to get to know some other members of this game, so please go ahead and approach me! :)

3. what do you plan on doing after you're finished with your tennis career
I would like to go back and study....finish high school and go on to university. I really liked school and learning, but because of my tennis, i never got to opportunity to challenge myself and see how well i could do. I really do feel that something is missing, despite how well i do on the tennis court, and i think that's a proper education, so that's my dream once i finish with tennis (which probably won't be for a while! ;) )...to get a degree of some sort! :)

But marteena doesn't need to be honoured anymore! ;) once is enough! ;) ;) :) LOL! :)

Mazzie responds to Kats questions

1! I decided to join the survivor challege as it is a very good event and worthwhile afterall it is for charity.

2! I hardly know the rest of the girls at all, not really had any interaction here or on the tour, it is very hard coming from a close family group where u r established to break out and get to know the other girls. I am hoping to change this in the furutre though.

3!When I have finished my tennis career I am hoping to go nto coaching and bringing on the next lot of Bulgarian players, who will just happen to be my neices :)

SURVIVOR UPDATES:

TUBIG strategizing? MAzzie is Back, Aiko Out

http://www-scf.usc.edu/~szakalsk/nicole2.jpg
Aiko is the first to go

In the first round of the Survivor Challenger, Mazzie survived and Aiko left with digress. Mazzie won 0-6 7-6(4) 6-0 in an up and down battle that a single badcall could've changed.

Aiko expressed her difficulties that she faced in communicating with her tribe, with the alliances and everything in her final words. This is a consequence she would just have to face, she said.

With the Immunity Challenges next week, the TUBIG tribe might have some controversies abounding as MAzzie returns to the tribe that voted her out.

2) I've started talking to a few girls like Jane and so on. I think it's a great experience because I feel I am allowing myself to grow as a tennis player.

3) I would love to do some TV Work. I'm already completing my schooling and then I'd like to do some commentating, maybe even coach!

Mazzie Returns!!!!

Mazzie is really happy to be back with the Tubig tribe after her performance in the challenge.

We got these quotes on her return!

It was a tough match esp the second set which could have gone either way but I managed to pull though in the end.

I hope I am not voted to face the challenge again next week, you know the Tubig tribe cannot really rely on a single person to face these challenges,, then again if they do not want me here I suppose I will have to face the challenge again and with this win I have shown I am a threat to people here in this tribe and the other.

I am hopeing to settle back into the group and maybe have a bit more interaction with my tribe mates I am very open and approachable .

Sandy answers Kat's questions

1.I joined the survior competition because I thought it would be fun, and a way to make new friends on the tour. I am all about fun, tennis for me is fun, so thats why I do it. THis sounded fun, and I know Lindsay Anne, and knew she'd do a wonderful job, so I signed up:D

2.I have talked to most of my tribe. Jane is a sweet girl, and she is very friendly. Daniela is a very funny girl, and shes got a good heart. Mazzie and Katerina are both nice, but most of all they can relate to what I'm going through on the tour... So yes, I've had some interaction.

3.After tennis I think I'd be a librarian, or a teacher. I love kids, and I love reading. Maybe a reading instructor? Ha, well anyways I'm not worrying about that until it comes around.

hong da-jung FINALLY makes an appearance! :o

she answers kat's questions...

1. why did you decide to participate in this survivor challenge?

Because its nice to do something different for a change... week in and week out its tennis... tennis...tennis... its hard to make friends on the tour as everyone is always too busy to chat! This is a great way to make new friends, do something interesting. Plus its for a wonderful cause! :)

2. how much have you interacted with everyone in the tribe?

I've interacted a bit with a couple of members! I'm hoping to chat more to them in the near future! I won't bite! ;)

3. what do you plan on doing after you're finished with your tennis career?

Well Asia is very limited in the sense that only a small percentage of kids has access to tennis courts. Tennis is such a middle-class sport and mix that with the fact that rural Asia is not middle-class at all means that not many people have access to tennis courts, not many own their own racquets, own tennis clothes and stuff... This is why Asia lags behind most other continents in the amount of professional tennis players...

So what i am going to do when i retire is open tennis academy's all over asia where kids from poor families who normally would have no chance of holding a racquet can go out there and have a go... Hopefully they may like it and want to take it seriously!

I will be more than happy to fund kids to become future stars of the tennis world!

Hong promises to be more socialable for her remaining time in the exhibition! :bounce:

SURVIVOR UPDATES:

APOY divided, Mazzie goes out in Round 2

http://www.wtastarz.com/profiles/pix/maleeva.jpg
Mazzie didn't survive this time

In week 2, Mazzie was again 'picked on' to be the player to go to the challenge round. From Apoy, a seemingly stronger alliance succeeded in voting on Larissa to go the challenge.

This time, Mazzie does not make it back to her tribe, falling to the Belarussian in straight sets 6-0 7-6 (7-5). In her final words, Mazzie expressed her irritations once again with the tribe for not letting her be part of the team.

However, in Apoy things start to heat up. A stronger alliance just edged out the Ruffy vote as Larissa is sent. Larissa expressed her anger at one comment made a votee who said that she acts like she's the next number 1.

If that tribe members has enough courage to say that when I'm not listening, I'd like them to tell me in my face! I really didn't appreciate that because I've never been overconfident or arrogent to anyone at anytime. I'd really to know who said that! , Larissa said.

Also the immunity challenge is released. which tribe would prove the stronger? Apoy may find it difficult as an a pretty pissed Larissa is going back to her tribe.

TUBIG in turmoil

Following their immunity loss, Tubig fell into pieces, Jane Wong said she is to blame for carelessly look up word in the wrong dictionary  and many people blame dani for not provideing her word. Jane said, 'Our team is so low in morale, we thought we had our immunity wrapped up but then just have it taken away, it is more cruel then if say apoy got all eoight right and we got one left. I am so upset right now, this next challenge gonna be really cruel, I am friend with everyone and to vote off not one but two is gonna be real cruel.'

here was APOY'S answer:

I just want everybody to have peace. This what our nation needs for greater advance. All the problems that happen and in politics is what hinders the society. Enough of being conceited. Enough of untrue basis and non sense talk. We need a change. Not tomorrow, not later, but today!

they got a bit of it correct.

jacs
Apr 4th, 2002, 02:00 PM
here was the paragraph:

ako ay humahangad ng kapayapaan para sa lahat. ito ay ating kailangan para sa ikaaangat ng ating bayan. Ang kaguluhan at pamumulitika na ngayo'y nangyayari ay isang masakit na dagok sa ating talino, sa ating kapabilidad. tama na ang pagyayabang. tama na ang pagsasalita na walang base at walang pararatingan. kailangan natin ang pagbabago ngayon. hindi bukas, hindi mamaya na kundi ngayon.

here is the correct answer:

i desire peace for all. this is what we need for the advancement of our nation. the chaos and politicking that is happening is a big hit to our intelligence, to our capability. enough of being conceited. enough of speaking without basis and without point (or destination). We need change now. not tomorrow, not later but today.

SURVIVOR UPDATE:

APOY wins first Immunity, TUBIG into pieces?

http://www.jelena-dokic.com/photos/jelena016m.jpg
is Dani in trouble?

In an interesting turn of events, APOY made a late charge and won the first Immunity Challenge in the Survivor Exhibition. Led by a very encouraging Bryanne and Nana, the once-dubbed "cold tribe" seems to have gained a new found confidence.

the survivors were tasked to translate filipino words and post them on the board in tribe threads. Tubig took a seeming early lead, getting most of their answers in first. however, Dani had failed to place in her translation. however, Tubig felt they were ahead because they got six of their answers in while Ruffy and Fleur were missing there's from Apoy.

"Ruflina is DAMN LAZY at the moment!", said a quite angry Bryanne.

Though, as it turned out, Jane had the wrong translation for her word 'bukid' (which meant 'farm'), which left the score tied at 5 all. Jane was increasingly disappointed.

Jane felt that she "was to blame for carelessly look up word in the wrong dictionary and many people blame dani for not provideing her word"

Because of the Tie, the Challenge was then led to the tiebreaker. A survivor was randomnly picked and was given a paragraph translate. the team was to help with it. Paula was picked for Apoy and Kat was picked for Tubig.

Tubig was frantic. Some sort of miscommunication seemed to have happened with Kat saying she was having trouble still with the paragraph and the others pleading her to let them help. Paula got their team translation in with time to spare while Tubig had not. Apoy had won the Challenge.

Hong expressed her thoughts on the upcoming vote and challenge round.

"Poor tubig tribe! Voting 2 people off is gonna be hard!"

Jane also expressed her thoughts.

"Our team is so low in morale, we thought we had our immunity wrapped up but then just have it taken away, it is more cruel then if say apoy got all eoight right and we got one left. I am so upset right now, this next challenge gonna be really cruel, I am friend with everyone and to vote off not one but two is gonna be real cruel".

Is Dani done for? Would Jane or Kat survive? Find out soon.

Marteena relishing and enjoying her experience!!!

Australian Marteena Huubere has been quoted as saying she is thouroughly enjoying her FWTT Survivor experience. "This has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as cliche-ish as that may sound. I am relishing the opportunity to work with other talented FWTT members, some of whom i haven't talked to much in the past. I have been talking a fair bit with Tiffani and Jane recently, who i haven't spoken to much in the past, and i hope to get a chance to talk to the rest of our tribe."

"I think the TUBIG tribe can pull it together after the dissapointment of losing the immunity challenge. I think we all need to come to terms with the fact that we WILL be losing one member of our tribe. However, we shouldn't focus on that. Our morale is low enough right now that we should focus on positive things....for example in the last couple of days for one member, we really should work together to get to know each other and have some fun, so atleast we can enjoy our experience."

"I hope i stay around for a little while longer as i am having a blast, however, if my tribe-members decide to vote me off, even this week, i can walk away from this knowing i've given it my best, had a wonderful time - one i'll never forget, and made friendships i hope will last for all the years to come! :) "

However, we will have to wait and see how long Marteena will have to enjoy this experience. It's been shown in the past that some members of the tribe are not her biggest fans with marteena receiving 3 votes over the first two tribal councils, with reasons listed as below:

"she has one of the best win/loss record and i feel she has a very good chance of winning."

"She isn't interacting enough, and well its better her than me..."

"i vote for Marteena because I just don't like her."

As it's seen, it's anyone's guess who'll go this week from the Tubig tribe, but we do know that if it is marteena who will be departing she will have truly enjoyed herself thanks to Lindsay Anne and her wonderful tribe-members.

SURVIVOR UPDATES:

KAT goes out in ROUND 3, TUBIG takes 2nd IMMUNITY

http://www.penelope-cruz.net/024.jpg
Kat goes out with a fight

The third week was a pretty controversial one full of high spirits and tense moments. Tubig lost the first immunity and had to go to tribal council to vote off two of their members.

Dani had an overwhelming vote against her. At the brink, Kat and Sandy were tied. In a tiebreaking decision, Kat was the one chosen to go through with the match.

Kat gave her side to the vote off:

"I'm not surprised I was voted for the challenge. I screwed up in the immunity tie-break and I'm the one to blame, so it didn't came as a shock when I recieved this disheartening news. I only hope win and stay alive in the game."

She didnt. It was an incredible match though, full of drama and grit from both players. Dani just edged out Kat 6-2 3-6 6-4. Kat becomes the third survivor to be booted out and the second from Tubig.

In the second immunity challenge, the teams were sent out on a scavenger hunt. Each team was given the same list of items to find and post. The first tribe to complete the task will win.

In an incredible feat, Jane pulled out all her efforts (which could have been motivated by a vote made against her in the previous tribal council) and completed and found every single one of the items on the list in less than half a day. Tubig won immunity.

by all accounts, some of the APOY members were not please with the decision.

"Well that was fair wasn't it considering the time to get the items isn't closed yet so how can we have lost we can still draw!", said a vehement Monica.

Bryanne had also expressed her disbelief with the decision and was similiarly annoyed. However, host Lindsay Anne Sarile came out with her explanation with the decision.

"im sorry APOY but i have got to stick with my decision. if you had the ability to win last week, you had the ability to do the same this week. as i have said, most of TUBG did not know about this rioght away. they won with the efforts of one member. and the items in my list were not easy to find. they have people who had the same time constraints as you do. and you had some people who were available. plus, the rules were quite clear. whichever team got the answers in first wins immunity. TUBIG clearly did that. If you had done the same then i would have gien immunity to you like last week. with these premises, i believe that decision is fair.", said Lindsay.

A few members from TUBIG, particularly Jane, were irritated with APOY's complaints:

"ignore all the naysayers and all those bitter people in the other tribe about not being fair, we won it fair and square.", said Jane.

Apoy now must vote off two of their members. Who will be the next to go?

SURVIVOR UPDATE:

RUFFY withdraws from Survivor; Tribal Switch Set

http://www.wtastars.com/venuswim/thumbnails/TNgrass13b.jpg
Ruffy expressed her regret

This week was one of many surprises.

Ruflina Taliamanosoko-Kimjumba, the 22 year-old from botswana withdrew from the survivor challenge round against Larissa Liashenko thereby eliminating her from the tournament.

the vote itself was surprise enough. Ruffy was a clear choice by all players but the other survivor drew a tie between Larissa and Monica Gambill. The vote irked Monica and she had some things to say about it.

"I know two of the people that voted for me and i don't care cos they will be out soon! But the third person whoever she is better watch out cos shes going down!", said the Monica.

According to the release, Ruffy was going through a tough patch in her life.

"I apologize to all my tribemates as I have been having family problems and unable to participate in the FWTT Survivor Experience. I realize that I have let my team down and I apologize because of this but my priorities of family are more important than tennis. I will not be available to play the survivor match either as I am in the middle of a hectic tennis schedule as well as my family problems. Thanks for all your support and best wishes to both tribes.", said a distressed Ruffy.

She becomes becomes the fourth person out of the tournament following aiko, mazzie and last week, Kat. This leaves both tribes at a draw, having 6 players left each.

Another surprise this week was the so-called FWTT Survivor Surprise or the Switch as host Lindsay Anne Sarile put it.

Names of the Survivors were placed in a hat and two by two, names were drawn. the first name in the pair is relegated to the new APOY, the second one to the new TUBIG.

Jane, Hong and Dani were switched to Apoy. Bryanne, Fleur and Monica were then got mixed to TUBIG. This drew a lot of gasps from the survivors.

Tiff said, "What a shock!! I can't believe. Welcome to the new Tubig members! We will miss you Jane, Hong and Dani!"

"Oh dear god who the hell is gonna win now.I can't trust Fleur anymore i know shje betrayed me so me and Bryanne will stick together and make friends with the other tribe members", said Monica.

Many of the survivors also expressed their apprehensions and general nervousness with their new members.

hong said that she was "sad but nervous and excited about forming new friendships with paula, anna and former doubles partner larissa!"

Others like Paula were extremely wide-eyed and even cracked jokes.

"Welcome to the new girls, make yoursleves at home!!!!!!! I'm a great cook, by the way :p :D"

Bryanne was visibly sad to leave APOY but merely said bye and joined her new tribe.

Tina's comment was probably the most insightful of the time.

"WOW! This is definitely going to make the game interesting!;);)"

SURVIVOR UPDATE:

DANI bows out; ANGER erupts in 'new' TUBIG

http://jellyworld.freewebspace.com/offcourtgallery/pressconference3.jpg
Dani was dominated by Monica

In an emotionally charged round, Monica Gambill dispatched youngster Daniela Turundzhov 6-3 6-3 to stay in the tournament, a week before the tribes are set to merge. She gave a very upfront farewell:

"I'm going to make it short and sweet. I'd like to thank everyone for allowing me to participate in this wonderful game for a wonderful cause. I'm disappointed that I couldn't pull out the win today, but Monica was too good and I wish her and her tribe all the best. I also wish my tribe and the other competitors continued success. Thank You'"

Monica looked tough and determined during the match. She did not let Dani even a iinch into the door and kept on pummeling each chance she had.

However, even before the match, tensions emerged. the new Apoy tribe clearly voted for Dani. All members of her tribe (and even Dani herself by virtue of not voting) gave her a push towards the door. Some tribal loyalties even emerged with the reasons given out.

"She is from the tubig tribe and they've all got to go!", said one tribesmember.

Others cited Dani's seeming indifference towards the tribe. Her fellow tribesmember even voted for her.

"Even though she and I were from the same tribe. We havent spoken once! I've made numerous attempts to efriend her but she refuses so she gets my vote"

However, the bulk of the controversy came from the new Tubig tribe. Bryanne, Monica and Fleur were switched from Apoy and brought a lot of emotional baggage with them.

The vote went to Monica by a 3-2-1 decision. Some reasons were raised and most of which were not very encouraging for the Monica.

"Monica was too cocky before the switching of tribe members, and it cost her.", said one.

"I do not like her." was said flatly by another.

This caused Monica to let others have it. She even started naming names.

"Looks like this game is full of backstabbers hey Bryanne!"

Larissa, from the new Apoy, reacted strongly about this.

"You talk about backstabber??? That's what happen when you tell something to someone and then you turn your back on them and tell someone else another thing and then you are all mixed up in your alliance thing!!! You accused Fleur first and now you accuse Bryanne!!! Are you a little mixed up! What goes around, comes around!

A mean verbal exchange followed between Larissa and Monica. In stepped Bryanne:

"You're (Monica) pathetic girl ever I met!:fiery: Actually, it was not me! Gosh, why you insulted me for this? You stupid! Yes, obviously... we hope won't see you today after the challenge! I hope Daniela would beat you today! :fiery:"

Dani, Monica's opponent, did not wish to interject on the whole controversy and towards the match.

"As for the controversy, I can't comment, it's not my place to. As for the match, it's going to be very tough. I've played her 2-3 times before and never won so it's a challenge for me to do well tomorrow. I have a few things in mind but we'll see. "

Unfortunate for her, that her planned strategies were not able to work. After the match though, Monica gave an emotional reprieve towards her tribes mates and especially towards Bryanne.

"I have acted like a right bitch yesterday over the vote.I was angry and hurt but now i am back in the tribe and i want to apologise for my behavier. You'll probably all vote for me next week but i hope that you can look through my childish  behavior and forgive me.I most of all want to apologise to Bryanne she has been a friend in this game and i betrayed her by lashing out at her i'm sorry bryanne!"

She quickly burst into tears after saying her piece.

Fleur quickly gave her own sentiments:

"Firstly welcome back to Monica, even though lately she has been acting immature. Second, I've never voted for Monica, and I am NOT a backstabber! :fiery: Third, It wasn't Bryanne that voted for Sandy!"
