OMG, Helen will be outraged! Isn't the Oscar a thing to be treasured, at least according to Ms Helen Lawson!?

JOLIE CONSIDERS SELLING HER OSCAR
ANGELINA JOLIE is considering auctioning off her GIRL, INTERRUPTED OSCAR to raise cash for children's charities.

The actress admits that though she was thrilled when she took the statuette home, it means very little to her now.

She says, "An Oscar is nice, but I never take that seriously and I make a point never to see awards. I give them away immediately, so that they are never in my environment.

"My Oscar is with my mom. It's just that I don't see it. I haven't seen it since day one.

"I was actually going to sell it off once for a charity, but I got talked out of it. I still might do it."

Good for her, she will always be an oscar winner does not need the statue to prove it and if she sells it for a good cause, good on her.

I dunno, I think she could rape and pillage if she came to my house. ;)

It's going to be for a good cause, and if she's selling it just give the money to the UNHCR would be best. I'm just saying board members and previous Oscar winners like Helen might call her insane.

What a bitch! Sorry Bacardi.. I know you want to make her your sex slave and all but I had to get that off my chest! :p

People like me work all their lives to get an Oscar and she just treats hers like trash? She'd get more money pimping herself than from an Oscar auction.

If she'd pimp herself, I honestly would agree to live in poverty for the REST OF MY LIFE. Hell I'd even move to a third world country and help them!

If Helen sees this the fireworks will start.

I can kinda understand Angie's thoughts on this thou, I have sports trophies and even 2 from a beauty contest when I was younger and I have no idea where they are now. If I knew someone would buy them, I'd sell.

She certainly doesn't care what anybody thinks. I heard on the radio (WW) yesterday that she cutoff an interviewer to go over and hit on some chick. Unfortunately, I was on the phone at the same time and didn't hear which event it was.

Angelina Jolie better not sell her Oscar because she will never get another one again.

The academy frowns on anyone who has little respect for the Oscar. As Helen Lawson and she will tell you that anyone can be blacklisted.

Angelina is the best!!! Got very very muchos respect for her...she gives away so much of her money for charity and now she's considering this...If you look at all the horrible things going on in this world especially to children...what does a stupid oscar mean then??????????????????????????????????????????????

Damnit WW had to tell on us, I knew it was a bad idea for me to get so close to Angie. I knew she'd take a liking to me. You should have heard the things she said she was going to do to me wearing her Sky Captain uniform. :hehehe:  :lick:

lol, go ahead and sell it.

you only need one to be billed as, 'academy award winner' for the rest of your life. it's just obnoxious when they mention multiple wins in trailers.

7 Time Academy Award Winner..........

Once is enough, at 7 you start thinking they've done so many artsy fartsy shit films that their career is poo!

Besides most of them end up broke due to their drug habits and sell them off anyway. At least this Oscar won't be laying around on some shelf in an LA pawn shop.

true.

and films aren't like sports...it's not so much of a 'what have you done for me lately?' attitude...you can coast forever on the one oscar win if the movie was any good.

My George'll snap it up. An Oscar would look nice next to all my runners-up trophies on the mantel.

:woohoo: I know what you mean. Back in my swimming days I litterally won hunderds of medals and a couple of trophies. Whenever I won them, I got home, but them in a box. Never looked at them. They are probably gone with the trash by now while my dad cleaned up the attic.

Trophies and stuff are nice while they last. But after a few years, everyone forgets anyway.

My names even somewhere in the "Who's Who Among American High School Students". I never bothered to buy the book, nor have I ever even looked at the write up about me in it. :o

Barcardi, no offense, but winnning an Oscar is not the same as a swimming trophy or some bullshit high school award!

Angelina is full of it, she's just saying this to get attention and publicity. The reason I know this is that it's illegal to sell any Oscar won after like 1949 or so, sometime in the late 1940's. When you get back stage, you have to sign a waiver saying that it will never be sold by you or anyone else, except back to the Academy, and it's for like $100. So if Angelina tried to sell it, they'd get an injunction against her. The only Oscars that are sold on the open market legally are those won before the late 1940's. The only good thing is that after I kick the bucket, the twins can't auction my Oscar off, as I won it in 1959 and signed the waiver. No waiver, no Oscar!

Plus, Sally is right, she's get more from a porno or a nude lay-out. Let's see, one of Crawford's twins auctioned her Oscar about 5 years ago or so, I think it brought like $250K, no more. Bette Davis' son sold both of hers over a 5-year period to raise money for an acting scholarship at a university, they brought a few hundred thousand a piece. Clark Gable's Oscar was auctioned and got I think almost $500K, Steven Speilberg bought it and gave it back to the Academy. Harold Russell sold both his Oscars because his wife needed surgery. I don't think he got that much. Angelina is certainly a bigger star than Harold Russell, but she's not Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, or Clark Gable!

I was a little low on the amounts.

I've heard that sometimes Oscars turn up at auctions. Do you know what the average selling price is?
Well, the two that have been up for auction in recent memory are Bette Davis's Oscar for Jezebel which Steven Spielberg bought for $578,000 and Clark Gable's Oscar for It Happened One Night which Spielberg bought for $607,500. So by simple calculation, the average would be $592,750. By the way, Spielberg returned both Oscars to the Academy after purchasing them. For the record, the Academy strictly protects the image of the Academy Award. Every winner has to sign a paper agreeing he or she will not sell his or her Oscar without first offering to sell it back to the Academy for $10.

I just looked it up, Harold Russell got $125K for his supporting actor Oscar, I guess he kept the honorary one. Angelina is somewhere between Miss Davis and Clark Gable, and Harold Russell. I'd peg her Oscar at about $200K or so. That's not a real haul for charity, she could land a million or more for a Playboy spread.

Sally Struthers

I think she could get $10 mil for Playboy if she wanted.
