Simpsons come out of the closet
By Metro
30 September 2004

If you don't want to know which Simpsons character is set to come out of the closet - stop reading now.

And for those who thought it was Smithers - you're wrong! According to reports in the US, the gay character will be Marge's sister, Patty. A source on the show said: 'Patty confesses to Marge that she is a lesbian and she has decided to marry her lesbian partner.

Her girlfriend is someone Patty has known for a long time but has yet to be introduced to viewers.

'But before the girls can wed, Springfield has to pass an ordinance allowing same-sex marriages. Marge throws herself into the campaign to change the law so her sister can marry - and pulls it off!'

At first, Homer finds it difficult to accept his sister-in-law is gay - but ends up walking her down the aisle.

Patty and Selma - my favourite characters in the series. They should have their own sitcom!

Smithers is still gay.
There's no way he's not, he keeps saying that he's in love with Mr. Burns.

Patty just makes it (at least) 5 gay people, who have been in a few episodes.
Smithers
Patty
The guy who always says "yeeeeeeessssssss....yeeeeeeesssssssss".
The 2 guys with the white tiger.

Homer: Which one's Selma, again?
Marge: She's the one who likes Police Academy movies and Hummel figurines,
and walking through the park on clear autumn days.
Homer: Oh, yeah yeah yeah. But I thought she was the one that didn't like
to be ... you know ... touched.
Marge: It's Patty who chose a life of celibacy. Selma simply had celibacy
thrust upon her.

I guess the Simpsons are evolving into the 21st century. It seems that it is cool to be a lesbian/gay in this day and age. (Yeah, I know in real life, it may not be that easy) but Hollywood seems to have embraced homosexuals.

Lisa, and her feminist ideals would have been a cool lesbian.

Yes, they certainly are. The plug should have been pulled on the Simpsons years ago.

I couldn't disagree more.

The Simpsons was and still is a very accurate social critic which is amazingly well written. There are some quotes and some dialogues that have proven to be, when thoroughly analyzed, some of the most intelligent things that have been written in the history of television.

It definitely used to be but after season 8 it really lost its edge with the pop culture humor and basically became a parody of itself. dont get me wrong, its still a great show, and i watch it most of the time, but its not what it used to be
