It's amazing that she's still top 10 with only 9 events. :hearts:

I was looking at the exact same thing. And she missed 3 GS too. Its a tribute to her consistency and impressive results (apart from the GS) last season.

I don't really care where she is ranked. As long as she is back fit and healthy and playing good tennis i don't care about ranking.

yeah..but its like already 3 years she is in the top 10
il be really sad if she drop out
actually she can hang on to it
might just be in the top 10 at 10th place
hopefully yes
but i am soo terrified to hear that she is losing 750 points from YEC
just that ..
hope she will win hasselt and moscow
and then a filderstat win
and zurich
its possible
but if all semifinalist also its s slim chance

Not to mention venus and vera are also very few points away from the top ten. Anyone in the 7-12 range can be in any of those positions.

I don't want her to finish the year in the Top-10 because it means she'll have to play so many matchs before the end of the season!! I'd prefer her to be 100% in 2005 than having another injury at the end of this season!

Kim is in the same position Venus and especially Serena was in last year into this year. She has held out in the top ten for a good while after not playing for so long. The only problem now that she is back is if she doesnt do well straight off the bat she will most certainly be falling. As can be seen it is very hard to get back in position after that fall. I wish her all the best because she has a lot of points to defend from now until about April next year and it will only be even harder if she doesnt make the YEC.

I agree with the person who noted that its admirable that she is in such a good position after just 9 tourneys. In fact if one were to look at all the players it would show up just who are the better ones. Just look at the number of tourneys some have to play just to have a very slender lead on others. The Russians have certainly mastered the art of playing a lot to end up with better ranks. My hope for Kim is that she will not put so much pressure on herself by playing week in week out next season. She should know by now that she is one of the better players and that if she wishes to leave a better legacy she needs to aim more at the important Slams. Leave the week in week out play to the Russians who are all fighting to be the first amongst themselves to be number one in the world. You have been there done that, focus now. And learn to say no to some of these love/exhibition/feel good matches. Select carefully.

Seems like she is playing well at the moment. I read in a Belgian newspaper this morning she trained with K-Lina yesterday and K-Lina didn't have an answer to Kim's play.

Go Kim :D

Well, if she falls out of the top 10, it's not the end of the world. If she stays healthy next year, she'll have good results and jump back in the top 10 soon.
Kim's health is what matters most to me right now.

Well from May 05 - September 05 (including Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open and their tune-ups) she will pick up points easily and move back into the Top3 if she showed the form she had in early 2004.

Don't worry about Kim's ranking. If she is alright it will come back next year.

You ought to be prepared for it to go down though. She has to defend her points from last year which will be difficult coming back. Then she loses a heap of points if she doesn't defend the YEC and at present she may not get into the last eight and get there. Then she has to defend the AO final points. Kim might even be out of the top 20 by next February but should come back as she plays the tournaments she missed this year.
