View Full Version : Lindsay might not be back as late as the Us Open!!

Mar 13th, 2002, 03:24 PM
CNNSI.com: Lindsay Davenport has been out of action since November with a knee injury. Will we see her back in the tennis midst soon?

Wertheim: There was actually a Davenport sighting at Indian Wells; she drove over from Orange County where she lives for a player tournament council meeting. Unfortunately, she was walking around on crutches, having had surgery in January to correct a cartilage problem in her knee. I'm told the recovery is going slowly. It could be a long time before we see her back on tour, perhaps as late as the U.S. Open.

It's not the same without her, come back Lindsay.

Mar 13th, 2002, 03:29 PM
Oh no

Come on Linds, tennis is as boring as ever without you

Mar 13th, 2002, 03:35 PM
Oh for God sake I have been lucky enough to get my first opportunity to go to Wimbledon and Lindsay may not be playing someone pass me a vodka straight on the rocks NOW!!!!!:fiery: :fiery:

Mar 13th, 2002, 03:36 PM
I was just thinking the other day about how costly that overule was in Munich. :(

It's so depressing.

Mar 13th, 2002, 03:56 PM
Which overrule thefreedesigner.
I think u are probably talking about Lindsay vs. Kim semis.
Maybe the tiebreak?

Not sure, but I think it would have happened anyways, her getting hurt like this, maybe in the finals against Serena.
It was a reaccuring injure that started at Ericsson last year.
It's not like she fell or anything, she was only moving forward, so it would've happened sooner or later.

Mar 13th, 2002, 03:58 PM
She seems to have been gone forever....

I would really like her to get back in the mix...In my mind she is still in the top three.

Mar 13th, 2002, 03:59 PM
That's the one Inifiniti.

I know it's an irrational feeling, but you could extend the theory that had there not been an overrule, there would have been no tiebreak (where Lindsay picked up the injury).

But yeah, it's irrational I know.

Mar 13th, 2002, 04:02 PM
Hard to tell when she's likely to be back

but seeing her on crutches isn't all that bad,
When you've had a knee Op its expected that you're on crutches for around 2-3 months, but good sign is that she is walking around with aid it has to be said.

Wertheim has probably drawn his own conclusion like he does for everything.
Only a specialist will know how far she is away and i doubt it she's gonna tell someone like him.

The most important thing is that Lindsay returns healthy enough to play. I have seen too many players try and return early only to reinjure themselves again. As for Weitherm, he is making a conjecture there and unless he has spoken to Lindsay and her doctor, he has no right to say anything.

Here's to hoping that Lindsay will return for the grass court season.

Mar 13th, 2002, 04:22 PM
First of all folks get one thing straight: Lindsay's injury was not sustained at Munich but jut reaggravated.

It was an injury that was never properly healed when she first suffered it months earlier and had to skip the 2001 clay-court season.

I do miss her, but what is more important to me is she comes back healthy and strong. If it means she will be out a little longer, so be it.

Mar 13th, 2002, 05:36 PM
No Lindsay!!!

Mar 13th, 2002, 05:41 PM
Poor Lindsay - but I agree with TBE.

Mar 13th, 2002, 05:56 PM

Mar 13th, 2002, 06:34 PM

This sucks! Do u really think she'd come back in August/ September when the season will nearly be over?

Lindsay, We miss you

Mar 13th, 2002, 06:41 PM
Bad for Lindsay. Hope she will get well soon ...

Mar 13th, 2002, 06:49 PM
freedesigner, right after it happened, I was thinking the same thing. I'd forgotten about it till you mentioned it again. That's a VERY costly overrule.

I think I may need a Vodka also...

please send one over....I may need a Xanex, also...

Mar 14th, 2002, 02:51 AM
Well, if that is Wertheim's expert opinion you can likely expect her to be back on court at 100% by Charleston.

http://www.smilies.nl/bawling.gif Oh gees no, that wertheim guy should be shot, coming up with such crappy conclusions. I am just gonna have to hit him.
Give me tylenol,
pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, mixed with vodka=(dont piss me off and buy me a dictionary) hallucinations.
He he he
This could be fun.
Anyway I too was planning to go to eastbourne and wimbledon and having no money, this would very much hack me off if she were not to play.
She could play on crutches, she'd win.. I know she would.

I am off to get some home brand down me:

Mar 14th, 2002, 12:37 PM
errrrr damn

Mar 14th, 2002, 12:57 PM
This season has definitely not been the same without Lindsay. I really hope that she back much sooner than the US Open.

Mar 14th, 2002, 06:06 PM
poor Lindsay....:(... I was looking forward to watching her play this season some time...:( BUT on the brighter side....maybe, if she's not playing, she's speding more time with her bf...and MAYBE they'll get ENGAGED!....that'd be fun and exciting!...of course Linds playing would be better, but hey, sometimes you gotta take what you can get!

That's my theory...:) call me an optimist..:)

Mar 14th, 2002, 06:42 PM

From tennisreporter
It said the following about Lindsay..

"Lindsay Davenport showed up in Indian Wells on crutches last week. Don't expect her back until late July"

Mar 16th, 2002, 12:27 PM
What a bad news!!!
And I hoped her to come back by the end of March...

Mar 16th, 2002, 05:56 PM
I have to say, IMO, Lindsey's game is so BORING. Can she keep the ball in play? NO. Can she rally? Almost no. She just stand there and T-off it--results in dull match esp. Lindsey-Vee matchup at Wim. Moreover, she made Wim lost it style. Wimbledon Champion MUST be a good volleyer, not that just-use-grass-as-an-area-to-shot-for-winners style she used. Even Vee , she's superbe at the net when she's on grass. OK, I know she was GS double champion but I have to say: thanx Jana for that.

So, for me, It's OK not to have Lindsey on tour so I have an opportunities to watch SF and Final [ my local TV coverage is start at SF every events except GS ] matchups of the other players I like more.

Mar 16th, 2002, 09:29 PM
Hey Junior!!!!!! Who is Lindsey?????

Mar 16th, 2002, 11:23 PM
*stares at screen speechless*

Alcohol isn't gonna do it this time.

*takes out a syringe and injects morphine into arm*
