Wonder where Christina Wheeler, Casey Dellacqua, Bryanne Stewart & Nicole Sewell are? Must have decided to try and stay in asia and get into qualifying and doubles at the WTA events! Hope it pays off for them. Might come back for QLD events in a few weeks time.

Wonder why Tiffany Welford, Julia Dzeidzic haven't entered this event, hope they enter the queensland challengers.

Amanda Grahame where are you? you enter Bali but not your home event in Canberra WTF is that? maybe she knows she getting a WC already?

Has Canberra put a ban on the west aussies? LOL No Dellacqua, Sewell, Dzeidzic, Bojana Bobusic, Lia Tapper, Jessica Moore they had better play QLD/SA or im going to be majorly pissed off!

Olivia Lukaszewicz the latest to withdraw - no medical recieved so maybe she just doesn't want to play on the red shit dirt.
Wildcards will be announced on Wednesday Tennis Australia will let me know Wed arvo or Thurs Morn who got them, you can be 99% certain that Nat Tanevska has been give a main draw wc along with Daniella Dominikovic. Casey Dellacqua's mum told me that Tennis Australia has offered her one but she told them that she didn't want to play on the crap and was pissed that they put this event in and took out Dalby, the place she won singles and doubles last year. She has been allowed up to wednesday morning to make her final choice, i expect she will be staying in perth resting and training with nicole sewell for the hardcourt events.

I wouldn't under esitmate Szili on Clay!! She won the SA State title last week! (Wouldn't be surprised if she casuses some upsets, I like Watson but I don't think she'll be able to win this one and I really think its an open tournament )

Wonder Why Oliva Withdrew
Pitty about the Dalby tournament (I wouldn't be happy if I was Casey, it's a bit silly having a clay tournament at the end of the year)

If she keep sthat kind of attitude she can expect to languish in the lower reaches of the top 300 for the rest of her career. I think this a great opportunity to get some cheap easy points on her least preferred surface. The more experience on the stuff, the better.

As this is a clay event, I think Evie would definitely be the clear favourite.

ozfan44
Sep 23rd, 2004, 03:02 AM
Main Draw Wildcards

Adriana Szili :D
Amanda Grahame
Lara Picome :D

One more still to be named  , which i presume is because they still want Casey to play!

NO Qualifying Wildcards as the draw is not full.

Matei and Tezuka withdrew from Main Draw:banana: so at this stage Cheung and Szili are next in so Adriana might not need her WC after all, have to wait and see!

ozfan44
Sep 24th, 2004, 02:58 AM
final wildcard has been given to Natasha Kersten, hopefully when she comes back from japan in next few days she remembers where she left her tennis game, casey decided that she would stay in perth and do some fitness and on-court training before the hardcourt events in queensland and south australia later in the year.

Where is Amanda Dundas and Marinela Antonic???

They would have gained points like Laura Harkness and Amanda Grahame and finally gotten a ranking if they had come here.

Great result for Holly Cao! Daniela is in very good form at the moment, I dont think Bree Calderwood is gonna get many games

ozfan44
Sep 27th, 2004, 01:45 PM
Can you plz post full qualifying draw thanx

Holly Cao beat Michaela Johansson Very Impressive!

I think tennis australia must have like banned all west aussies from playing here coz casey, nicole, marinela, bojana, lia and jessica all didnt enter and only casey and nic have entered mackay - pathetic!

Can't wait for the main draw, hopefully most of the in-form aussies can steer clear of each other in the early rounds!

Hewitt's performance even made an article in the Age Sport today, good on her!

Hope she can push Evie!

Im sure if her name was Jaslyn Smith she wouldn't. But it's understandable as I guess some people would be curious to see how Hewitt junior is faring.

There has been some extra coverage of Jaslyn lately, mainly due to her getting some camera time watching her boyf play. We saw her watching both at Wimbledon and the US Open.

Add this extra media coverage to her improving results, and I can see TA giving her a WC into the Aus Open maindraw next year.

Well she certainly has been outperforming a lot of the other top 500 players such Adamczak, Breadmore, Kriz, Dittmann, Stewart, Welford and Cupac the last few months with her S/F and Final in UK and now final here.

There aren't exactly a lot of players ahead of her that are more worthy other than Dellacqua, Evie, Watson, Wheeler, Musgrave, Ferguson and the last three are iffy at that. Just as long as Olivia doesnt get one I'll be happy!

OMG they just showed bits of the final on the ABC news!!!

Jaslyn Hewitt def Evie Dominikovic 1-6 6-3 7-5!

Apparently the first set went very quickly but then Jaslyn found her rhythm and took the second set comfortably. The third set was a battle and Evie had her chances but Jaslyn proved to be too solid and took it!

Im so happy for Jaslyn all these years of injuries since she was 17 and she's persevered and now she finally has a $25K title to her name! A big congrats!!!

And a nice ranking rise to come in 8 days as well!!!

in typical evie fashion she destroys jaslyn in the first set then fades away :(..

Thats a bit harsh and a bit inaccurate!! When was the last time Evie destroyed someone in the 1st set and lost???

Lately its been the other way round, she lost the 1st set to Watson and came back strong, likewise against Musgrave at Aust Open.

I think you meant to say that she choked when it got tight in the final set!! Thats more an Evie thing to do!!!

Hmm, I really want to see her match on clay and see what the difference from what I saw her matches at Adidas International. Maybe she played crap in past then but well done for won her first title!

Yay! Go Jas. Poor grl has copped a heap of critisism over the yrs, and all the injuries. It must be hard being compared to Lleyton, and there's always more expectation and media coverage being a 'Hewitt.' (although it often works to her favour too.) I'll NEVER forget AO 2001 (think) she lost 1st round n our stupid paper put her on the back page and made bout a million comparisions between her n Lleyton, saying stuff like 'she has a much bigger build, not as athletic as her bro' etc etc.

I think her bf probably hits with her a fair bit, gives her some tips, thats gotta help!

Neway go grl! N congrats to Evie. (hope to c many more good performances this Aussie summer)

yeah i was referring to the choking ausboy...

after winning the first set so easily and then losing, when i said 'evie fashion' i was implying that when she gets in a winning position she has a tendency to choke..

AUSBOY

Evie was up 4-2 in the 3rd set, Jaslyn broke back in a game that last over 15 minutes. The report said Jaslyn deserved her win, at 3-4 Jaslyn really starter going for winners where as Evie went back into her shell and played a purely defensive moonballing game!
