What happens to Petrova and Dementieva's ranking after having defeated the number 1 and 2 seeds, respetively. And if Lindsay doesn't win the Open, who is number 1?

I know how the rankings theoretically works, but they are kinda freaky...interesting to see Nastya staying number three though losing in the second round thanks to Justine´s loss in the 4th round. How hard it must be to fall from the top to place 4!!!

No. As of right now, updated through today's QF match the rankings are as follows:

1. Mauresmo
2. Myskina
3. Henin-Hardenne
4. Davenport
5. Dementieva
6. Clijsters
7. Sharapova
8. S. Williams

Should Lindsay win her QF match, she will pass Justine for #3. Should Lindsay make the final, she will be #2. Should Lindsay win, she will be #1.

Dementieva is the highest she can reach, #5.

Nadia is up to 13 after her win over Justine. Kuznetsova is still stalled at 9.
